Coronavirus comes under the viruses that are capable of causing common cold, raising the temperatures and also can result in severe acute respiratory syndrome. The major threat to public health is caused due to the emerging infections such as SARS. Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 has spread across various countries and been declared as a ‘pandemic’ by the World Health Organization. Basically, coronavirus affects the individuals which have low immunity. However, one can adopt various herbs that can increase the amount of intestinal beneficial bacteria and can make up 85% of the immune system of the body. So, making use of such herbs one can very effectively promote health and boost immunity to fight against the virus attack. Also, the plants based play a major role in boosting the immunity and preventing the individuals from catching COVID-19 infections.

One of the most difficult tasks is efficiency and target-specific drug delivery or the extent of delivery at any given site of interest. Many currently designed drug delivery systems are precisely tailored to maximize the delivery of a particular form of drug by reducing the degradation or loss of the drug. In case of cancer treatment, the targeted drug delivery is of utmost importance as the anticancer agents are not having the ability to differentiate between healthy and tumor cells resulting in adverse effects and/or systemic toxicity. The targeted drug delivery is thus designed to focus on preventing side effects and encouraging the accumulation of the drug at the targeted site; one such promising drug delivery system is magnetosome drug delivery, i.e....

Penetration enhancers are used to facilitate the movement of drugs through the skin barrier. Numerous methods exist for extending partition enhancement. The enhancers' contact with the polar head of the lipid groups is the potential means for increasing the penetration. Penetration enhancers improve the amount of free water molecules between the bilayer, leading to an improvement of the polar drug diffusion cross section. This article focuses on the different compounds assessed for improving penetration activity like sulphoxides, azones, pyrrolidones, alcohols and alkanols, glycols, surfactants and terpenes.

Drug possesses dibenzoxazepine tricyclic 7-membered heterocyclic ring available commercially as oral, intramuscular and inhalation dosage forms. This review comprises the various study designs of loxapine irrespective of its dose formulations. A comprehensive and systematic search was conducted on “Scopus”, “Web of science” and “Pub-med” data base and findings were critically analyzed. The data suggests that there is no significant difference in efficacy between typical and atypical antipsychotics. Till now, oral and intramuscular route is widely in use. Oral dosage forms are available in the market for the treatment of agitation related to schizophrenia but it has limitation of delayed onset of action that results in increased risk. Intramuscular formulations reveal a significant difference compared to placebo with respect to agitation but time range could be in range of 15 ...

Polymer being macromoleculespossesses long chains, a number of functional groups, blend of low molecular and high molecular weight substances and could be customized for various applications depending upon the chemical structure of the monomers. Polymers exhibit unique properties which cannot be attained with any another material till date. Biopolymers such as cellulose, chitosan are used in drug formulations with extended and sustained drug release. The objective of sustained release system is to deliver the drug at a predetermined rate to a specific site, reduction in dosing frequency, minimization of side effects and enhanced patient compliance. In this review, there is major highlight on origin of polymers and various biodegradable polymers used in intradermal drug delivery systems and their major characteristics.

DHA is the major component of the sea food mainly fish. Fish gets DHA directly from the consumption of marine organisms like algae or plankton. Tuna, Salmon, herring are the good sources of omega-3 fatty acids. According to WHO, recommended daily intake of omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (EPA and DHA) is 0.3-0.5g/day. Deficiency of DHA in infants is associated with learning impairment, cardiovascular diseases, depression and cystic fibrosis. Various studies have shown a strong correlation between deficiency of DHA and increase in sudden cardiac death. Many independent studies shows that the children with higher levels of DHA in breastfed have affected better in mental and visual abilities as compared to the children not containing DHA in their diets. This review focuses on the role o...

Pers. and K. crenata (Andrews) Haw. of family Crassulaceae, are popularly used in the treatment of many diseases. [1] Both species are often misidentified as the other, because of their similar popular uses and names, and the similar external morphology of the leaves. [1] They show close proximity in usage, habitat, preparation and identification. The external morphological features of Kalanchoe crenata resemble that of Kalanchoe pinnatum. Ethnobotanically, most often they are prepared and administered the same way.[2] The plant is rich in both macro and micro elements, vitamins, calcium, phosphorus, ascorbic acid, inulin [3] and other compounds like saponin, flavonoids, anthraquinones, xanthones, bryophyllin A and B.[4] Alkaloids and saponins are present in the aqueous and alcoholic extracts of plant parts. [6] The green callus of the plant contains malic acid, quinones and tocopherol. [7] The present research includes phytochemical and physicochemical e...

To overcome this problem, various strategies have been come out into notion such as self emulsifying drug delivery system solid dispersions, use of surface active agents, complex formation. Solid dispersions is found to be promising approach to increase bioavailability by use of various polymers. This review focuses on the mechanism of drug release from solid dispersion with its method of preparation and applications. Key words: dissolution, particle size, solid dispersion

The aim of this study is to develop and evaluate self-nanoemulsifying drug delivery systems (SNEDDS) of DHA for improved palatability, dispersibility and bioavailability. The SNEDDS were prepared and evaluated for miscibility, employing different combinations of olive oil and soyabean oil as oil phase, Span 80, Span 20, soya phosphatidylcholine, Labrafil M 1944 CS as surfactants while Tween 80, PEG 400, Cremophor RH40 and propylene glycol as cosurfactants. Thermodynamically stable SNEDDS were characterized for dispersibility, self-emulsification time, droplet size, zeta potential along with sensory analysis. The optimized formulation was subjected to ex vivo and in vivo evaluation such as intestinal permeability, memory performance test, brain concentration and histopathology studies. The optimized SNEDDS formulation showed emulsification time of 27 ± 4.7 s with droplet size of 17.6 ± 3.5 nm and zeta potential of -37.6 ± 0.5 mV. Intestinal absorption study depicted 18.3%, 21.5%, 41.5%, 98.7% absorption of DHA with SNEDDS-based formulation in comparison to 8.2%, 15.1%, 28.8%, 46.1% absorption of DHA with oil-based marketed formulation after 0.5, 1, 2 and 4 h. DHA concentration in brain homogenate was found to be increased to 2.6-fold in comparison to DHA-marketed formulation. This could be ascribed to enhanced dispersibility and bioavailability of DHA from nanosized formulation. The developed formulation led to enhanced dispersibility and bioavailability of DHA due to the formation of nanodroplets.
