Furthermore its usage in structural components for high performance application, such as aerospace vehicles and racing automobiles, hence this composite requires a good processing method so that the quality of the Al7075/SiC/Graphene composite is not affected. Hence stir casting method of casting is adopted and Al 7075 plate is casted with varying mass of SiC (10% and 15%) and Graphene maintained constant at 1% for both compositions. The distribution of Aluminium composite is examined by microstructure analysis, and the material is tested for its mechanical Properties such as Tensile strength, Hardness, Impact strength along with that the wear behaviour is also analysed using pin-on-disk testing method. Liquid state processing technique - stir casting method is employed in...

Hence the present study was carried out to assess the impact of pharmacist mediated counselling on QOL in asthma patients using WHO-BREF questionnaire. A total of 180 asthma patients were enrolled into the study, out of which 160 have completed the study. Remaining 20 patients did not turn up for the follow up. Out of 160 patients 90 were males and 70 were females. 81 patients were in intervention and 79 in the control group. The intervention group showed improvement in QOL score from the baseline to 1 st and 2 nd follow-ups. No improvement in the total score of the control group was observed. The intervention group showed improvement in pulmonary function on 1 st and 2 nd follow-ups; the control group did not show improvement in PFT value...

We surveyed tsunami impact in 43 islands by measuring island topography and run-up height, interview to local people and mapping of the flooded and destructed areas. The differences in tsunami height and disaster corresponding to the atoll shape and island topography are observed. In the northern atolls, atoll rims consist of many ring-shaped reefs, i.e. miniature atolls called `faro', and interrupted many channels between them. The interrupted atoll rim may play an important role to reducing tsunami run-up height. Severe damage was not observed in the eastern coast of the islands. Beach ridge also contribute to the protection against tsunami. However, in some islands, houses beside the lagoon are damaged by backwashing floodwater from the lagoon. Water marks show the run-up height of -1.8m above MSL. The lagoon water-level seems to set-up by tsunami which permeates into the lagoon through the interrupted atoll rim. The disaster was severe at the southern atolls of Meemu, Thaa and Laamu. The higher run-up heights of up to 3.2m above MSL and enormous building damages were observed at the islands on the eastern atoll rims. The continuous atoll rim of these atolls may reinforce tsunami impact at the eastern islands. In addition, tsunami surge washed the islands totally because of low island topography without beach ridge. Significant floodwater from lagoon was not observed in these atolls. It seems the lagoon water-level was not set-up largely. The continuous atoll rim reduces the tsunami influence to the lagoon and the western side of the atolls. The continuity of atoll rim is probably the major factor to cause the difference in water movement, i.e. tsunami run-up and lagoon set-up, which affects the disaster in the islands. Beach ridge contribute to reduce the tsunami impact to the settlement and agricultural land. Our results may elucidate secure atoll and island type to mitigate the risk of future tsunamis on atoll nations/districts in the Pacific and the Indian Ocean.

The prescription should be clearly written, free from writing errors, and fulfil the legal requirements. The prescription writing errors leads to the medication errors, which in turn leads to failure of therapeutic goals. Objective: A nine month prospective study was carried out to determine the prescription writing errors at a Teaching Hospital. Results: A total of 290 prescriptions were randomly collected from out patients visiting the study site, and analyzed. Among them 635 errors of omission related to prescribers and 184 errors of omission related to the drugs with an average of 2.18 and 0.63 errors per prescription respectively. The errors of omission related to prescribers were due to failure to mention signature of prescriber 27(9.31%) followed by diagnosis 27(9.31%), prescribers name 261(90%), patients weight 290(100%) and 30(10.34%) w...

Research paper thumbnail of An Adaptive Energy Efficient Reliable Routing Protocol for Wireless Sensor Networks

Existing Routing protocols provide reliability at the cost of high energy consumption. In this paper, we propose to develop an Adaptive Energy Efficient Reliable Routing Protocol (AEERRP) with the aim of keeping the energy consumption low while achieving high reliability. In our proposed protocol, the data forwarding probability is adaptively adjusted based on the measured loss conditions at the sink. So only for high loss rates, a node makes use of high transmission power to arrive at the sink. Whenever the loss rate is low, it adaptively lessens the transmission power. Since the source rebroadcasts the data, until the packet loss is minimized, high data reliability is achieved. By simulation results we show that the proposed protocol achieves high reliability while ensuring low energy consumption and overhead.

A piston is to slide about the cylinder and shaft has to rotate about its casing. Both requires the relative motion for least frictional losses to be happened. A flexure bearing is a spring which allows relative motion by bending a load element. Flexure bearings have the advantage over most other bearings that they are simple and thus inexpensive. They are also often compact, lightweight, have very low friction, and are easier to repair without specialized equipment. This paper presents design, analysis and manufacturing of flexure bearing for a linear compressor which increases the efficiency of system by achieving maximum stiffness, less stresses and more fatigue life. For this, modelling is done in NX&CATIA and analysis in ANSYS with physical validation of final results by manufacturing actual prototype.

Cysteine proteases from these plants latex exhibited both thrombin and plasmin like activities. Latex enzyme fraction in a concentration dependent manner induced the formation of clot in citrated blood plasma. Direct incubation of fibrinogen with latex enzyme fraction resulted in the formation of fibrin clot similar to thrombin enzyme. However prolonged incubation resulted in degradation of the formed fibrin clot suggesting plasmin like activity. Latex enzyme fraction preferentially hydrolyzed Aalpha and Bbeta chains of fibrinogen to form fibrin clot. Latex enzyme fraction also hydrolyzed the subunits of fully cross linked fibrin efficiently, the order of hydrolysis was alpha-polymer > alpha-chains > beta-chain and gamma-gamma dimer. Cy...
