It is a qualitative research and its overall goal is to understand the relationship between ICT a... more It is a qualitative research and its overall goal is to understand the relationship between ICT and the acquisition of literacy skills in first grade students of elementary school. For this, we designed and implemented a learning experience based on technological elements with 22 children in the first grade from a school in the town of Cúcuta (Colombia). To monitor progress, a diagnosis was made among school participant, teacher interviews and focus groups with some children who gave guidelines for the design of the learning experience. Faced with the overall objective of the research, ICT correspond to teaching aids that can be used for teaching and learning of literacy. The relationship between these two areas is in the field of communication and mediation exerted by teachers, and can become an instrument of great potential in schools. In this vein, teachers must be trained in the educational use of technology to discover and evidencing their potential in the classroom, that is, how they can be useful to strengthen the virtuality, interactivity, collective learning, learning based on socio-cultural elements, building concepts and complex learning. The results showed, first, difficulties teachers in terms of understanding and interpretation of the reading-writing initial process, which could hinder the teaching and learning of reading and writing in school; and secondly, applied learning experience shows that the use of technological elements impact on the care of children, creates a better environment for the educational action area, and thus generates a more meaningful learning. The learning experience lasted two months, and therefore only some progress was presented in the school group as improving skills in reading and writing.
