This paper explores the concept of common goodness being necessary for the emergence of a civiliz... more This paper explores the concept of common goodness being necessary for the emergence of a civilized relationship between individuals that belong to a social group. It is also a reflection on the dangers of a misguided overemphasis in individualism, hedonism and narcissism, as well as an exploration of different concepts related to tolerance as a mechanism to refrain from individual impulses that would attempt against common goodness, to be able to arrive to a state of harmonious relationship within the social components of a civilized society, a virtuous state according to Aristotle ethical framework. It is also an exploration of the role of mass media as a vehicle to promote ideologies, and manipulation, and a motor that impulses extreme individualism, the poison of civilization.
