The popularity of Hollywood movies has been thought as the result of professionally managed entertainment industry, backed up by the use of latest technology and massive advertisement. In fact, those factors play only on “the surface”; there is something more instrumental embedded in the psyche of both film makers and viewers that lead to the world-wide acceptance of Hollywood movies. Psychologist Carl Jung calls this element archetype. It resides in the unconscious layer of human psyche, regardless their cultural and geographical background. Archetypes are ever-present, mainly through any mode of narratives, though variation and modification occur from time to time. However, the essence of the archetypes are mostly invariable. The structure and magnetization dynamics are investigated in a vortex spin-transfer nanooscillato... more The structure and magnetization dynamics are investigated in a vortex spin-transfer nanooscillator, which is a three-layer spin-valve magnetic nanocolumn with a large diameter of 400 nm, under flowing spin-polarized current through it. The dynamic variation in the structure of vortices and their trajectory of motion are studied, using micromagnetic modeling, as a function of the value of the spin-polarized current. It is demonstrated that different modes of motion of vortices may exist: decaying oscillations of vortices, stationary oscillations of vortices, and the mode of switching polarity of one of vortices. The time for which different dynamic modes are settled is determined. The dependence of the oscillation frequency on the value of spin-polarized current is determined for the case of stationary dynamics of coupled vortices. It is shown that, at large values of current, switching of vortex polarity is only possible in a thick layer with the dynamic switching mechanism accompanied by generation of a vortex–antivortex pair. The software package for micromagnetic simulation, SpinPM, is used for numerical calculations of the dynamics of magnetic vortices.

At the core of our method is microwave registrationbased on spin diodes, to identify obstacles to the movement for the car's autonomous driving system. The resolution of the holographic system grows with wavelength decrease. However, the recording capacity at a given level of irradiating signal and diode noise decreases. We give an algorithm for the numerical reconstruction and visualization of obstacles. Estimates for the resolution and the reliability of object identification, depending on the distance to the obstacle, obtained by numerical modeling. We show that there is an optimal wavelength to reach the maximum distance of microwave recording, taking into account the system resolution and the acceptable signal level. Highly sensitive spin diodes, feasible for the 2-30 cm wavelength range, nearly approach the optimum range, which is ~ 0.5-1 cm for Schottky diodes, in their holographic visualization ability. Based on the Kotelnikov theorem for the sampling frequency of a harmonic signal, and on numerical experiments, the requirements for the placement density of the receiving elements of the recorder antenna array were determined depending on the distance to the object, the number of sensors and the recording window size. We show that a microwave-recording device based on spin diodes can be promising for an autonomous driving system in conditions of constrained movement with poor visibility and high noise.

Whitman is a (political) thinker as much as a poet, and most notably, a democratic prophet. Through his abundant essays and poems, he preaches what he refers as aesthetic democracy. Employing descriptive-qualitative method, this paper aims at investigating the application of this concept in Whitman's most famous poem "Song of Myself". The result of the analysis shows that Whitman presents the concept of democracy of aesthetic in the both form and the content of the poem. The form of the poem signifies Whitman's rejection to the old poetic conventions and his aspiration of a more democratic poetic. The content of the poem shows a democratic tendency by involving various themes, subjects and personae with no privilege and subordination towards particular themes, subject or personae.

Here, we report a large induced spin-orbit splitting (~70-100 meV) of graphene pi-states with formation of non-degenerated Dirac-cone spin states at the K-point of the BZ crossed with spin-polarized Pt 5d-states at Fermi level that opens up a possibility for creation of new spintronics devices. We propose to use this spin structure for formation of spin current with spin locked perpendicular to the momentum for induced remagnetization of the (Ni-Fe)-nanodots arranged atop the interface. Theoretical estimations of the spin current created at the Graphene/Pt interface and the induced intrinsic effective magnetic field leading to the in-plane remagnetization of the NiFe-nanodots due to spin-orbit torque effect are presented. By micromagnetic modeling based on experimentally observed spin-orbit splitting we demonstarte that the induced intrinsic magnetic field might be e...

The assumption that America is an Anglo-Saxon Protestant nation is not entirely wrong, to certain extent, it is even indubitable. Anglo-Saxon Protestant culture and ethics have shaped America the nation it is today. This cannot be separated from the fact that the first settlers were people with Anglo-Protestant background. Through more than two hundred years of immigrations, however, when people from other parts of the globe with different cultural background and religious beliefs flooded America in huge number, this core culture did not vanish. It survived and was embraced by the majority of Americans. This paper tries to scrutinize the way the WASP identity became American identity. To do this, there are three basic ideas related to the WASP that need to be explored; the Anglo-Saxon ethnicity, Protestantism, and Anglo-conformity. In the first part it will try to investigat...

A particular example of such material is BeFeO3 in which the spin cycloid can be suppressed by application of external magnetic field, doping or by epitaxial strain. Understanding the effect of the external electric field on the spin-wave spectrum of these systems is required for devices based on spin wave interference and other innovative advances of magnonics and spintronics. Thus, we propose a model for BiFeO3 in which the thermodynamic potential is expressed in terms of polarization \boldsymbol{P}, antiferrodistortion \boldsymbol{\Omega}, antiferromagnetic moment \boldsymbol{L} and magnetization \boldsymbol{M}. Based on this model, we derive the corresponding equations of motion and demonstrate the existence of electromagnons, that is, magnons that can be excited by electric fields. These excitations are cl...

In the present work we propose a model of a graphene recording device for the SOT-MRAM unit cell consisting of a quasi-freestanding graphene intercalated with Au and an ultra-thin Pt layer sandwiched between graphene and a magnetic tunnel junction. As a result of using the claimed graphene recording memory element a faster operation and lower energy consumption will be achieved under the recording information by reducing the electric current required for record. The efficiency of the graphene recording element was confirmed by the experimental results and the theoretical estimations.

Resonant magnetization dynamics leads to generation of spin current, which flows into the topological insulator, where spin to charge conversion occurs. Using micromagnetic simulations for magnetization dynamics we estimate the dc voltage, which is created due to this process in topological insulator. Contribution from different modes, which are characteristic for nanodisks, to the voltage was calculated.

HoFexAl12-x (x = 5,6) compounds, which have compensation temperatures Tcomp > 0 for x = 5 and Tcomp ≈ 0 K for x = 6, are used as examples. Magnetic phase diagrams for these substances in a two-sublattice (f-d) ferrimagnet with a compensation point are constructed and analyzed with exchange interactions and anisotropy taken into account. Special attention is devoted to the influence of the rare-earth anisotropy on the form and properties of the phase diagram.

Thermally assisted magnetic random access memory (TAS-MRAM) nanodevices are promising candidates ... more Thermally assisted magnetic random access memory (TAS-MRAM) nanodevices are promising candidates for future memory applications, because they provide non-volatile data storage at fast operation and low energy consumption. In this work, we analyze operating regimes of these devices using macrospin and micromagnetic modeling. It is shown that, for the successful performance of write and read operations in a TAS-MRAM device, the intrinsic magnetic anisotropy of ferromagnetic layers must not exceed some critical value. The relationship between the device parameters and the value of critical magnetic anisotropy is explained using analytical model and proved by the results of numerical simulation. This analysis is important for the future downscaling of TAS-MRAM nanodevices.
