The present study aims to extract the bioactive components from turmeric rhizomes to appraise its ability as a therapeutic agent. Methodology: Ethanolic extract and its doses were prepared for antioxidant and cytotoxicity assay. In-vivo study of wound healing activity of turmeric extract in the form of an ointment was evaluated upon its topical application in incision and excision wound models. The excised tissue samples were subjected to hematoxylin and eosin staining and content estimation of collagen biomarkers namely hydroxyproline, hexosamine and hexuronic acid. Results: DPPH assay showed the significant antioxidant activity of the extract with an IC 50 value of 37.09 ± 2.17μg/ml while MTT assay revealed an IC 50 value of 96.2± 2.48 μg/ml against human breast cancer cell line MCF-7. In the incision and excision models, % breaking strength of the wound and wound contraction rate in turmeric ointment treated mice w.r.t standard drug-treated mice are 109.28 % and 80.5 % while untreated mice exhibited a value of 77.75% and 52.74% respectively. Qualitative evaluation of the wound healing progression is depicted by the histopathological study of tissues. Indirect assessment of collagen content in tissues by quantitative estimation of collagen biomarkers aids to predict the progress of wound healing as their occurrence in increased amount confirmed the wound healing potential of turmeric and the prepared ointment base.

It is reported that in between 1981 and 2006, 47.1% of the 155 clinically approved anti-cancer drugs, were unmodified natural products or their semi-synthetic derivatives or even synthesized molecules based on natural models [4]. Aloe vera is one of the oldest known medicinal plants. Studies show that the Aloe vera leaf extract is effective on various cancers like colon cancer, neuroectodermal cancer [1,2] but there is very less sufficient data on breast cancer. Therefore, we evaluate the effect of Aloe leaf extract on breast cancer cell. Phytochemical test of the extract confirms presence of Alkaloids, Phenolic compounds. The antioxidant activity of such phytochemicals are very useful to inhibit cancer [3,4,19]. MTT Assay was performed on PBMC and MCF-7 cell line with aloe vera extract. Experimental data suggest that Aloe vera whole leaf extract significantly increases the cytotoxic effect on human breast cancer cell compare to normal cell (PBMC). Our study evaluated specific cytotoxic effect of Aloe vera extract on human breast cancer cell and further study is required to develop Aloe vera extract base drug for the treatment of breast cancer.

Estrogen metabolite generates free radical that causes DNA damage leading to cancer cell formation. Moringa oleifera leaf extract contain rich amount of Polyphenolic and Flavonoids compound which trap the free radical and thereby prevent cancer cell progression. Moreover anti-gonadotrophic hormonal activity of the leaf extract slows down the proliferation rate of T47D cell line. Hence our aim of study mainly focused to develop an anticancer drug delivery system using M. oleifera leaf extract. Silver nanoparticle (AgNp) is formed by green synthesis method using M. oleifera leaf extract. Reducing sugar, Flavonoids, Polyphenolic compound, and NADPH dependent dehydrogenase present in M. oleifera leaf extract are responsible for reduction of the silver ion (Ag ?) followed by formation of metallic silver (Ag 0). The formation of spherical and rectangular shaped AgNp with average size of 50 nm is reflected with sharp SPR band near 420 nm and from SEM, TEM analysis. The nanoparticle mediated polyvinyl alcohol composite film (nano-rod) is prepared for delivery of the purified anti-neoplastic phyto-compound from leaf extract. The large surface area of AgNp permits its coordination with purified compound molecule by metal ligand bonding. Therefore it provide duel effect, it acts as carrier molecule for phytocompound and also creates cytotoxicity effect on cancer cells. Single dose treatment on HeLa cell indicates that the composite film is more effective in killing the cancer cell than the purified anti-neoplastic phyto-compound. In our folk medicine, it is used for the treatment of Canker (cancer). The Moringa oleifera leaf extract contains many phyto-compounds, with some being anti-neoplastic in nature. Objective: Our preliminary study showed that the leaf extract significantly kills cancer cells compared to normal cells. On searching for the new phyto-compound, Bis-isothiocyanatomethyl) benzene was purified and isolated. Methods: The sequential process of fractional distillation, column chromatography, followed by TLC and HPLC is performed for purification. Every fraction from each step was tested on HeLa cell line for evaluating the presence of the phyto-compound. Results and Conclusion: FTIR peak analysis of a single phyto-compound shows the presence of thiocyanate group, aromatic carbon group. 1H & 13C NMR peak analysis along with High-resolution mass spectroscopy (HRMS) calculation confirm the chemical str...

Materials and Methods: A total of 500 consecutively selected ALL patients were diagnosed and treated according to National Cancer Institute protocol (MCP 841) for a period of 24-88 months during this hospital-based study. Results: Of the total, 50.4% had a higher incidence of T-ALL and 47.6% had pro-B, B-cell precursor ALL. Disease free survival and event free survival were remarkably higher in B-ALL adolescent patients as compared to T-ALL, who had significantly lower overall survival ratio. Prevalence of T-ALL was also observed in relapse cases ...
