Patients and methods: Between June 2008 and May 2011, the procedure was performed on 23 patients with mean age 2.3 years (range 1–3). All patients had distal penile hypospadias; 11 sub coronal and 12 coronal. The urethral plate was less than 8 mm in all patients and 3 of them had history of previous hypospadias surgery. All procedures were carried out under general anesthesia using 4× magnifying loupe. After penile degloving and dorsal incision of the urethral plate, the lingual graft was harvested and sutured to the edges of the incised urethral plate from the hypospadias opening to the tip of the penis. The neourethra was closed and an intervening flap was fixed over the neourethra as a barrier against fistula formation. Results: Success rate was 87% as 20/23 patients were cured without any permanent complication throughout the follow up period. None of patients suffered meatal stenosis or required regular urethral dilatation. Three patients developed urethrocutaneous fistula, of which two closed spontaneously and one required surgical repair 6 months later. Two patients had failed procedures and delayed re-intervention was performed due to complete loss of the graft in one of them and repair disruption following infection in the other. Two patients had post-operative pain in the graft harvesting site which disappeared within days. Conclusion: The one-stage lingual augmented urethral plate urethroplasty offers promising outcomes for repair of distal penile hypospadias with narrow urethral plate.

Neoadjuvant hormonal therapy not only provides possible early systemic treatment for a subclinical disease, but may also help in improving local disease control by increasing the number of patients eligible for definitive local therapy (via down staging).

We analyse the relic neutralino density in supersymmetric models with an intermediate unification... more We analyse the relic neutralino density in supersymmetric models with an intermediate unification scale. In particular, we present concrete cosmological scenarios where the reheating temperature is as small as O(1 − 1000 MeV). When this temperature is associated to the decay of moduli fields producing neutralinos, we show that the relic abundance increases considerably with respect to the standard thermal production. Thus the neutralino becomes a good dark matter candidate with 0.

By examining the decay rates as functions of the four-momentum transfer squared q{sup 2}, we measure the ratio [(dB/dq{sup 2})(D{sub s}{sup +}{yields}f{sub 0}(980)e{sup +}{nu})B(f{sub 0}{yields}{pi}{sup +}{pi}{sup -})]/[(dB/dq{sup 2})(D{sub s}{sup +}{yields}{phi}e{sup +}{nu})B({phi}{yields}K{sup +}K{sup -})] at q{sup 2} of zero to be (42{+-}11)%. This ratio has been predicted to equal the rate ratio [B(B{sub s}{yields}J/{psi}f{sub 0})B(f{sub 0}{yields}{pi}{sup +}{pi}{sup -})]/[B(B{sub s}{yields}J/{psi}{phi})B({phi}{yields}K{sup +}K{sup -})], thus indicating that the CP eigenstate J/{psi}f{sub 0} could be useful for measuring CP violation via B{sub s} mixing. We present measurements of decay matrix elements for hadronic transitions of the form Υ(nS) → Υ(m... more We present measurements of decay matrix elements for hadronic transitions of the form Υ(nS) → Υ(mS)ππ, where (n, m) = (3, 1), (2, 1), (3, 2). We reconstruct charged and neutral pion modes with the final state Upsilon decaying to either µ + µ − or e + e − . Dalitz plot distributions for the twelve decay modes are fit individually as well as jointly assuming isospin symmetry, thereby measuring the matrix elements of the decay amplitude. We observe and account for the anomaly previously noted in the di-pion invariant mass distribution for the Υ(3S) → Υ(1S)ππ transition and obtain good descriptions of the dynamics of the decay using the most general decay amplitude allowed by partial conservation of the axial-vector current (PCAC) considerations. The fits further indicate that the Υ(2S) → Υ(1S)ππ and Υ(3S) → Υ(2S)ππ transitions also show the presence of terms in the decay amplitude that were previously ignored, although at a relatively suppressed level.

The transitions χ c1 → γρ 0 and χ c1 → γω are observed with B(χ c1 → γρ 0 ) = (2.43 ± 0.19 ± 0.22) × 10 −4 and B(χ c1 → γω) = (8.3 ± 1.5 ± 1.2) × 10 −5 . In the χ c1 → γρ 0 transition, the final state meson is dominantly longitudinally polarized. Upper limits on the branching fractions of other χ cJ states to light vector mesons are presented.

We present results for η decays to γγ, π + π − π 0 , 3π 0 , π + π − γ, and e + e − γ, accounting for 99.9% of all η decays. The precisions for several of the branching fractions and their ratios are improved. Two channels, π + π − γ and e + e − γ, show results that differ at the level of three standard deviations from those previously determined.

We show that due to the different parity in the final states of these processes, their supersymmetric contributions from the R-sector have an opposite sign, which naturally leads to S φK S = S η ′ K S . We also consider the proposed mechanisms to solve the puzzle of the observed large branching ratio of B → η ′ K and their impact on S η ′ K S .

We critically reappraise the known mechanisms to suppress the EDMs and conclude that only the scenarios with approximate CP-symmetry or flavour-off-diagonal CP violation remain attractive after the addition of the mercury EDM constraint.

I... more Faba bean (Vicia faba L.) is one of the important pulse crops grown in many parts of the world. Its production and productivity are affected by different biotic and abiotic stresses. Broomrape (Orobanche and Phelipanche spp.) causes yield losses of 7-80% in major faba bean growing countries mainly in the Mediterranean Basin and Nile Valley countries. Host plant resistance is found to be the most effective and economic method of broomrape control. Efforts made at the International Center for Agriculture Research in the Dry Areas over many years to develop advanced breeding lines with acceptable resistance and tolerance levels to broomrape have resulted in the identification of several useful breeding lines. These lines were shared with National Agricultural Research Systems (Egypt, Sudan, Tunisia and Portugal) as part of the Faba Bean Orobanche International Nursery, in order to test their stability across three seasons (2005, 2006 and 2007). The results showed that Orobanche plant number, dry weight, Orobanche index, flowering date, maturing date and grain yield were significantly different among lines and locations. AMMI analysis showed that some lines derived from hybrid bulk populations "HBP/DS0/2000" and "HBP/ES0/2000" showed acceptable levels of yield stability in the presence of Orobanche infections across all environments compared with susceptible check. In highly infested soils, the tolerant and resistant lines gave acceptable levels of yield compared with the susceptible check. However, the yield potential of resistant and tolerant lines in non-infested soils was lower than the highly susceptible check.

A clear signal is observed in the diphoton channel at a mass close to 125[Formula: see text] with a local significance of [Formula: see text], where a significance of [Formula: see text] is expected for the standard model Higgs boson. The mass is measured to be [Formula: see text] , and the best-fit signal strength relative to the standard model prediction is [Formula: see text][Formula: see text][Formula: see text]. Additional measurements include the signal strength modifiers associated with different production mechanisms, and hypothesis tests between spin-0 and spin-2 models.
