Yet even in its second year, remote teaching and learning still face ongoing challenges, as does the need for teachers’ professional development. This paper describes a study that examined teachers’ perspectives on barriers and needs in professional development. The study involved 174 teachers who were teaching online courses in the National Capital Region. The participants completed a survey detailing their professional development frequency, perspectives, barriers, and needs, while eight teachers agreed to participate in a follow-up interview. Results from hierarchical multiple regression analysis have shown that teachers’ pedagogical and information technology skills requirements are influenced primarily by their prior professional development experiences and their need to apply active learning and innovative teaching ideas. Socioeconomic status and education of an individual are said to be highly-related to future quali... more Socioeconomic status and education of an individual are said to be highly-related to future quality of life. Within the Philippines, the 2018 statistics have reported that the number of families living below the poverty line is around 11.90%. Although this figure is already a large improvement from the 2015 census of 18.40%. However, due to COVID-19, the situation today might be altogether different. A total of 392 volunteer senior citizen participated in the study, wherein demographics such as: age, gender, marital status, average monthly income, educational attainment, and health status are collected. In addition, senior citizens' resilience, coping strategies, and quality of life are also collected. Data analysis involved Chi-square test for independence, correlational analysis, and linear regression. Findings showed that resilience, coping strategies, social participation, and quality of life are not related to gender and marital status, while average monthly income and educational attainment are related to resilience and cognitive coping strategies. Regression results showed that resilience and social participation both successfully predicted the quality of life for the current group of senior citizens.

Drawing on the concept that an individual’s quality of life (QOL) is influenced by their demographics, coping strategies, resilience, and social participation, the current study reports on the findings of these variables among older adults in the Western Philippines. A total of 392 volunteer older adults were surveyed. Aside from the demographics such as age, gender, marital status, average monthly income, educational attainment, and health status, the data collected also included the 30-item coping strategies for the elderly, 14-item resilience scale, 12-item social participation scale, and 35-item older people’s QOL scale. COVID-19 has had a profound impact on society at all levels. A great deal of the impact is felt b... more COVID-19 has had a profound impact on society at all levels. A great deal of the impact is felt by those working in the healthcare sector. The current review reflects on the various issues that affect nurses during COVID-19. Issues such as the different emotions experienced by nurses with COVID-19 during the isolation and treatment process, the roles and responsibilities of nurses during COVID-19 pandemic, the psychological distress among nurses in the care of patients with COVID-19, and the various challenges faced by nurses during COVID-19 pandemic. In essence, nurses play a critical role and responsibilities during an emergency and disaster situations. Nurses serving patients in the frontlines during the COVID-19 pandemic are risking their lives at risk to be able to perform their duties causing tremendous fear of contracting the virus or transmitting it to other people. Therefore, continuous education is needed in other to prepare for the future.

This may be heightened if the patient experiences a lamentable end-of-life experience due to inadequate end-of-life care (EoLC). Anchoring on the theory of bureaucratic caring and the peaceful end-of-life theory, insights can be gained into the motivations and behaviors that support the delivery of palliative care during COVID-19. Thus, the objectives of the study were to identify the common nursing procedures done for children and to measure their level of anxiety. A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted at a district hospital in Philippines. The respondents of the study were 235 children aged 3 - 9 years old admitted in the pediatric ward. The descriptive characteristics of the children were recorded. Venham Picture Test was used to assess the level of anxiety in children. The instrument was validated using the Good and Scates criteria and pre-tested on 30 pediatric respondents. The chi-square test and t-test were used to determine the significance of difference between the scores given by the children across different age groups and the P-value was set at 0.05.
