This method proposes analysis of stator winding currents for both normal and fault conditions. High frequency universal model of three phase induction motor used for MATLAB simulation. By using the wavelet MRA technique, the approximate and detailed coefficients of the faulty voltage and current waveforms of the machine are generated under different fault conditions. From the approximate coefficients the type of the fault has been identified. Depending on the energies of the signal the fault diagnosis can be done. The proposed protection scheme is reliable and fast for various fault inception angles.

Hence, this paper presents a novel technology which is capable of providing the same or more number of levels as that of the fundamental with reduced number of active switches. The proposed topology utilizes a DC link which is the combination of number of DC cells. The DC interface provides a variable DC connection voltage along with the regulated path through floating capacitors and provides the required degree of control for all inverter phases. The numbers of levels of the converter are increased by connecting the DC cells in a multi-cell structure. The five-level reduced multi-level converter (RMC) is compared with various other topologies such as single-phase five-level and seven-level cascaded H-bridge inverter in terms of number of active switches, and the results are validated through the percentage total harmonic distortions.

Electrical equipment like compressors and pumps take heavy inrush of current during starting, causing voltage sag/swell. On the other hand, usage of Electric Drives and Switch Mode Power Supplies generate harmonics in the supply system. In this paper, Synchronous Reference Frame control applied to Unified Power Quality Conditioner is presented to regulate the load voltage and supply currents against supply voltage distortion, voltage sag/swell under non-linear and unbalanced loads. Using Matlab/Simulink, a three-phase four wire system under distorted voltage supply, voltage sag/swell and unbalanced non-linear load was developed. Active and reactive power flow analysis is also investigated in this study. Capacitor voltage balancing is maintained using PI controller. Simulation results prove that under unbalanced and nonlinear load conditions, UPQC effectively eliminates harmonics, compensates voltage problems like voltage sag/swel...

Recently a nine-switch UPQC (NS-UPQC) is proposed, but suffers with certain limitations like limited reference amplitude and phase shift, twice the rated dc-link voltage and increased stress on the semiconductor devices. To overcome these issues, in this paper nine-switch UPQC (NS-UPQC) is investigated using Synchronous Reference Frame (SRF) and Real Power Theory (P-Theory) with harmonic extraction based control schemes. The nine-switch UPQC (NS-UPQC) model with the proposed control schemes are developed in Matlab/Simulink software and its performance is examined under various conditions like load voltage and supply current harmonics, supply unbalanced currents, voltage sag/swell. %THDs of voltage and current are also analyzed in this work.

Distribution static compensator (DSTATCOM) is voltage source inverter (VSI)-based shunt compensating custom power devices (CPD) used for current harmonic mitigation and also for reactive power compensation. The features of traditional multilevel inverters at high levels motivated the researchers to implement reduced switch topologies (RST) as they aim for reduction in cost, volume and to improve reliability of the system. This paper proposes a five-level RST-based DSTATCOM, which reduces the switch count to 33% compared to conventional multilevel converters. %THDs of five-level diode-clamped converter (DCC) and the proposed RST-based DSTATCOMs under same loading conditions are compared to show the potency of the converter. All the simulations will be carried out in MATLAB/Simulink software.
