Having a functional web-based learning environment is a norm for a large number of educational in... more Having a functional web-based learning environment is a norm for a large number of educational institutions today. But publishing plain e-Learning materials in this environment does not contribute significantly to student's learning unless a sound pedagogical framework is adopted behind this process. Substantial researches have been done in the area of Adaptive and Intelligent Tutoring Systems to develop web-based intelligent learning environments (WILE) where the student's current knowledge about the subject matter is stored in a student model database and therefore the materials are presented according to the student's learning need. In most cases, contents are an intrinsic part of these kind of learning environments, and difficult to port to another environment in the case of reuse. This paper introduces a framework to develop dynamic content for a SCORMconformant web-based intelligent learning environment that can be ported to another similar kind of learning environment.

A good pedagogical framework is essential in order to create an effective teaching and learning environment over the Internet where lessons can be delivered according to student’s performance. The Web-based Intelligent Learning Environment (WILE) is such a framework, which has all four essential components of a typical Intelligent Tutoring System, namely, 1)the communication module, 2)the pedagogical module, 3) the student model and 4) an expert module, but deployed over a client-server architecture. Web-based learning or eLearning has generated a great deal of interest among the educators around the world and made teaching and learning possible “anytime”, “anywhere ” as long as an Internet connection is available through a computer. Over the time, eLearning has matured from a place for publishing plain content to an adaptive learning...

Such systems do not contribute significantly to the learning process. A good pedagogical framework is needed to develop effective web-based teaching and learning systems. This paper presents just such an effective system, which is designed for a specific engineering subject, Digital Logic Systems Design. Our system is called Web-based Intelligent Learning Environment for Digital System or WILEDS. WILEDS has been built on a robust framework of intelligent tutoring systems realised on a three-tier Java client-server architecture. It comprises five components: a communications module, a pedagogical module, a student model, an expert model and the domain knowledge. WILEDS incorporates the entire process needed to assess students, starting from automatically generating problems to checking the stud...

Although still in its infancy, mLearning is taking off very fast as it gives both teachers and learners the `true' freedom of space and time. It also provides a new way of interaction for teaching and learning. This paper reviews the state-of-the-art of mLearning technology, underlines the potential of mLearning, and discusses the appropriate use of mLearning. Finally, it introduces a Mobile Intelligent Learning Environment or MILE, a conceptual framework for an authentic mLeanrning situation, explains its system architecture and describes the various pedagogical features implemented in this framework.
