The body temperature and pulsation was normal without any signs of septicaemia or toxaemia. Per vaginal examination revealed foetal bones in the birth canal but the birth canal was not fully patent. Therapeutic treatment to dilate the birth canal for expulsion of the foetal masses was carried out. After treatment, the foetal masses of three puppies were recovered by applying slight traction with the help of fingers per vaginum. X-ray imaging of pelvic region was done to ensure the complete evacuation of the uterus from foetal bones.

In total, reproductive tracts from 215 buffalo along with intact ovaries were collected randomly from an abattoir. The incidence of cystic conditions found in this study was 3.72% (8/215), involving the right ovary in 62.5% of instances and the left ovary in 37.5% of instances during the non-breeding season. Follicular fluid was aspirated from preovulatory follicles (12–15 mm diameter, oestrogen-active, follicular phase or stage IV corpus luteum on one of the two ovaries, n = 10) and cystic follicles (at least 20 mm diameter, no corpus luteum on any one of the two ovaries, n = 8). The follicular fluid samples were assayed for biochemical components (uric acid, creatinine, blood urea nitrogen, cholesterol, total protein, glucose, ascorbic acid, and alkaline phosphatase), hormones (progesterone,...

Eighteen lactating Sahiwal cows were randomly allocated into three groups (n=6) in a randomized block design. Cows fed on basal diet without chelated mineral mixture supplement was kept as control (MM0), whereas; cows in other groups were supplemented with inorganic mineral mixture-1 (inorganic-MM1) and 2 (Chelated-MM2), respectively, with dose rate of 30 g/cow/day. Basal diet offered as total mixed ration (TMR) to experimental groups contained concentrate mixture, berseem fodder and wheat straw in the proportion of 40:30:30. Body weight (BW) and dry matter intake (DMI) was recorded fortnightly while blood parameters were measured at monthly intervals. Towards the end of the experimental period, a digestion trial of 7 days collection period was conducted. DMI, BW gain and apparent nutrient digestibility were similar among all the groups. Apparrent digestibility of crude protein (CP) was significantly (P<0.05) higher in the cows of both the mineral mixture supplemented groups. There was no effect of treatment on haematological and biochemical attributes. Plasma calcium (Ca) concentration and total antioxidant status (TAS) were significantly higher (P<0.05) while level of plasma phosphorous (P) and total immunoglobulin (TIg) were lower (P<0.05) in both mineral mixture supplemented cows. Treatment did not exert any effect on milk yield and milk composition. Findings of the present study revealed that the dietary supplementation of chelated mineral mixture improves utilization of Ca and protein without any adverse effect on other attributes.

A total of 28 collections from four bulls (seven collections per bull) were utilized for the study. After initial evaluation, each semen sample was diluted in two different extenders viz. Tris egg yolk extender which acted as control and Soya-milk extender as experimental. Various sperm parameters were studied at post dilution, post equilibration and post-thaw stages. There was significant difference found for The progressive motility, live sperm percentage, Host Percenatage. Intact acrosomes was significantly higher for Tris egg yolk extender at post dilution, equilibration and postthaw stages. In conclusion Tris egg yolk extender found to be superior than soyamilk extender.

Clinical examination revealed dystocia due to stenosed vulva. Episiotomy was performed and live male calf was delivered per-vaginally.

Investigation of the birth canal revealed that the cause of dystocia was obstruction, due to large lump at or near the internal os. After relieving the dystocia, it was found that the lump, may be a neoplastic mass, was confirmed as leiomyoma after histopathology.

There was not only multiple craniofacial abnormalities along with deformities in limbs but also visceral organs were abnormal in shape, size and their positions. Such type of monstrosities is rarest of rare and hence recorded.

Partially duplicated, two female fetuses joined at the thoracic region (Thoracopagus) and having well developed eight limbs, i.e. four forelimbs (Tetrabrachius) and four hind limbs (Tetrapus) and both pelvis are separate (Dicaudatus). There was clear four nostrils (Tetrarhino) and the postmortem examination revealed that internal organs were paired.
Dystocia due to breech presentation coupled with fetal ascites in buffalo was presented for treat... more Dystocia due to breech presentation coupled with fetal ascites in buffalo was presented for treatment with history of completed gestation and rupture of water bags normally without any progress. Per-vaginum examination revealed presence of tail in birth canal and bilateral hip flexion (breech presentation) along with distended abdomen of fetus. Per-vaginum, fetal abdominal wall was punctured with stalfer's knife for evacuation of ascitic fluid and breech presentation was corrected by mutational techniques and fetus was delivered by gentle traction.

Based on the history, clinical signs & symptoms, clinical pathology and ultrasonography reports the condition was diagnosed as open cervix pyometra and the pyometra was successfully managed by Ovario-hysterectomy.

This communication reports a case of congenital abnormality of vertebral column (scoliosis) in a fetus along with improper disposition causing the difficult parturition in an ewe. Fetus was with laterally curved vertebral column which was supposed to be cause of dystocia along with faulty fetal disposition. Dystocia was relieved with successful per-vaginal delivery using obstetrical manipulation.

Therefore, it is obvious need to produce the animals of desired sex which can be achieved by predetermining the sex of conceptus at the time of conception i.e. pre determination of sex may be of great economic importance. Control of the sex ratio by sex prediction of the of pre implanted embryo would be beneficial not only in relation to the aspect of management, production and breeding programmes of livestock but also in diagnosing the genetic disorders at prenatal stage. Pre-implantation sexing of embryos not only improves efficiency of embryo transfer but also facilitate the transfer of embryos of desired sex. Sex-sorted sperm is a one of the technique fulfilling the requirement but it is well expensive and less efficient. Another concept of getting genetically improved animals of desired sex is embryo se...

The collected ejaculates were divided into five groups in the tris-based extender (control without curcumin-I, 10 µM-II, 25 µM-III, 50 µM-IV and 75µM-V) and were cryopreserved. Groups II and III containing 10 and 25 µM curcumin substantially (p < .05) improved the post-thaw sperm parameters like viability, motility, and velocity parameters; intact acrosome and membrane; lowered protein carbonyl content; DNA fragmentation and cryocapacitation-associated changes in comparison to control. It was interesting to note that early apoptotic-like changes in sperm cells were significantly (p < .05) decreased in Group II along with an increase in a higher population of sperm cells having high mitochondrial transmembrane potential. Higher progesterone-receptor binding, Vanguard distance and in vitro capacitation response were observed only in Group II (10µM) compared to other groups. In conclusion, curcumin in a semen extender manifests cryoprotective effects and may be incorporated at 10 µM concentration in a Hariana bull semen extender for better post-thaw sperm quality.
