In this paper, a new approach is proposed for the ranking of generalized trapezoidal fuzzy numbers namely Haar ranking and is based on the approximate coefficients and detailed coefficients using Haar wavelet. The main advantage of the proposed approach is that it provides the correct ordering of generalized and normal trapezoidal fuzzy numbers. The proposed ranking not only gives the crisp value but also to obtain the fuzzy number by de-fuzzification, which is unique in a way that no other ranking gives back the fuzzy number. The contents herein present several comparative examples demonstrating the usage and advantages of the proposed Haar ranking method for fuzzy numbers.
