Les structures de type coque sont tres utilisees dans l'industrie, notamment pour les apparei... more Les structures de type coque sont tres utilisees dans l'industrie, notamment pour les appareils a pres-sion, les transports et le bâtiment. Le choix de telles structures minces represente assurement un avan-tage economique mais pose naturellement des problemes de tenue mecanique, vis-a-vis de structures plus massives. Dans les appareils a pression en particulier, les sollicitations sont telles que la tenue au flambement doit etre consideree avec soin, compte tenu des risques materiels et humains associes. Depuis plus d'un siecle, le flambement des coques fait l'objet de nombreuses etudes, aussi bien fonda-mentales qu'appliquees, d'autant plus qu'il est frequemment caracterise par de grandes disparites entre les resultats experimentaux et les predictions theoriques (comme le montrent deja les resultats precur-seurs de Lorenz, Timoshenko et Southwell dans le cas d'un cylindre sous compression axiale). Les écoles des Mines d’Albi, d’Alès et de Douai ont mis en commun une Formation Continue Diplôman... more Les écoles des Mines d’Albi, d’Alès et de Douai ont mis en commun une Formation Continue Diplômante à Distance. Cette formation permet à des techniciens supérieurs, ayant 3 années d’expérience professionnelle d’accéder, par le biais de la formation continue, au diplôme d’ingénieur. La première année est constituée d’un enseignement à distance s’appuyant sur les technologies de l’information et de communication. Dans notre communication on abordera les objectifs pédagogiques, le contenu et le déroulement de la formation. Le retour d’expérience sera fait et illustré par des témoignages d’étudiants. L’enseignement de la résistance des matériaux servira de support à cet exposé.

Purpose – The uncertainty evaluation for coordinate measuring machine metrology is problematic du... more Purpose – The uncertainty evaluation for coordinate measuring machine metrology is problematic due to the diversity of the parameters that can influence the measurement result. From discrete coordinate data taken on curve (or surface) the software of these machines proceeds to an identification of the measured feature, the parameters of the substitute feature serve in the phase of calculation to estimate the form error of form, and the decisions made based on the result measurement may be outliers when the uncertainty associated to the measurement result is not taken into account. The paper aims to discuss these issues. Design/methodology/approach – The authors relied on the orthogonal distance regression (ODR) algorithm to estimate the parameters of the substitute geometrical elements and their uncertainties. The solution of the problem is resolved by an iterative calculation according to the Levenberg Marquard optimization method. Progressive plastic deformation is one of the damage mechanisms which can occur in pressure vesse... more Progressive plastic deformation is one of the damage mechanisms which can occur in pressure vessels subjected to cyclic loading. For design applications, the main rule proposed by codes against this failure mode is the so-called 3f (or 3Sm) criterion. During the last decade, studies have shown that this condition can be unreliable, and its application should be restricted. In parallel, theoretical developments enabled shakedown analyses to be considered in design methodology, and to be incorporated in codes and standards (EN13445, CODAP) from the early 2000s. This paper gives a review of innovative methods based on shakedown theory, which can be used in the determination of elastic shakedown limits, ratchet limits, or cyclic steady state. In the present work we are interested on the analysis of the severity of crack defects created by... more In the present work we are interested on the analysis of the severity of crack defects created by a disc cutter and to study the behavior of a high density polyethylene pipe (HDPE pipe) when subjected to an internal pressure, either in the absence or presence of a pre-crack. In order to do this, experimental tests was performed to measure the toughness and to determine the mechanical behavior of HDPE. These features were used to perform numerical simulations using ABAQUS on pipe solicited by an increase in internal pressure. This allows to compare with burst tests of cracked pipes and to determine the fracture energy that will be compared to the toughness.

ABSTRACT The influence of sandblasting on a surface notched pipeline with API 5L X52 steel is stu... more ABSTRACT The influence of sandblasting on a surface notched pipeline with API 5L X52 steel is studied. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the mechanical characteristics of material in both directions of pipeline (longitudinal (L) and transverse (T)). Specimens were taken from a pipeline and material damage was made by projecting corundum particles (aluminium oxide). It has been shown that the sandblasting has little affect on the yield stress and ultimate strength. Erosion of surface layers, under the sand impacting, improves the material lifetime and elongation at fracture. The fracture toughness of sandblasted material manifests differently in both L and T directions. In order to justify these evolutions, a microstructural study was carried out. The observation of damage mode and distribution of residual stress under the notch tip show that the material hardening, the notch radius and the compressive stress play an important role in stabilizing the mechanical properties of material.
