The arteries vary in their level of origin and caliber, obliquity and precise relations. Each renal artery is about 6-8mm diameter. There is a varying characteristic of these arteries owing to their different course. The aim of the study was to study the variation in the formation of renal artery with its branching pattern using CT Angiography. Methods: The cross sectional study was conducted in the department of Radiology at Chitwan Medical College. CT Angiogram was studied in 17 individuals who attended radiology department for angiography for different suspected abdominal and renal pathology. Results: Analyzing the result of the angiography, we found the usual branching pattern of renal artery in 70.58% of the individual, with variations in remaining 29.42%. On studying the number of arteries supplying kidney, artery draining directly to hilum i.e. accessory renal artery was 2.95%. We found the average length of right renal artery ranged between 3.5cm to 6.0cm. Conclusions: The variations on this large lateral branch of abdominal aorta are common. Surgeons should exclude the possibility of presence of accessory and aberrant renal arteries obstruction prior to the surgical procedure. The awareness about the presence of such variations is important from the academic, surgical and radiological aspect.

Therefore, it has become extremely important to start a communication-skills course early on in undergraduate medical study, but to date, this has been given relatively little or no emphasis. In the present study, an attempt was made to assess the attitude of undergraduate medical newbies towards learning communication-skills, and the association between attitude and various student characteristics. Patients and methods: A total of 99 recently admitted undergraduate medical students at Chitwan Medical College were included in the study, and their attitude towards communication-skills training was measured using the Communication Skills Attitude Scale (CSAS). Results: A positive learning attitude was found in over 50% of participants. The idea of a requirement of communication-skills curriculum was associated with a positive learning attitude. Gender, age, and past educational institute were not associated with communication skills learning attitude. Conclusion: This study provides perceptions of newly admitted undergraduate medical students towards communication-skills learning. We suggest the integration of communication-skills curriculum into the undergraduate medical syllabus, with an acceptable, focused, and interesting teaching module.

Such capabilities can help to prevent nuclear and/or radiological attacks, but reliable detection in uncontrolled surroundings requires algorithms that account for environmental background radiation. The Berkeley Data Cloud (BDC) facilitates the development of such methods by providing a framework to capture, store, analyze and share data sets. In the era of big data, both the size and variety of data make it difficult to explore and find data sets of interest and manage the data. Thus, in the context of big data, visualization is critical for checking data consistency and validity, identifying gaps in data coverage, searching for data relevant to an analyst's use cases and choosing input parameters for analysis. Downloading the data and exploring it on an analyst's desktop using traditional tools is no longer feasible due to the size of the data. This paper describes the design and implementation of a visualization system that addresses the problems associated with data exploration within the context of the BDC. The visualization system is based on a JavaScript front-end communicating via REST with a back end web server.

The easy accessibility and availability of opioids at most tertiary care centers of Nepal have made possible, the once thought impossible fundamental right of palliative patients. The availability of morphine has not only eased the pain of palliative patients but health care providers equally. The mainstay of pain management has had its success but several subjective complaints of dry mouth, sedation, feeling of incomplete wellbeing and decreased immune function is often heard of. The present study aims at evaluating the effects of morphine on complete blood count profile in palliative care patients. Methods: Complete blood count of 114 palliative patients was estimated using an automatic hematology analyzer after 24-48 hours and 14 days of morphine administration. The data was recorded using a preformed proforma and analyzed using SPSS (20). Results: A statistically significant increase in total white blood cell count, neutrophil and platelet count was observed following morphine administration but there was a decrease in lymphocyte count (p<0.05). Also, neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio, a predictor of inflammation was found to increase (p<0.05). A non-significant increase was seen with the platelet-lymphocyte ratio (p>0.05). Conclusion: Morphine is found to influence the total white blood cells, neutrophils, and lymphocytes and NLR in palliative patients. However, withholding morphine in palliative patients is never an option. Furthermore, larger randomized controlled trials are necessary to analyze the predictive value of NLR and PLR in palliative patients.
