This paper is a synthesis of contributions to the project of implantation of Competitive Intellig... more This paper is a synthesis of contributions to the project of implantation of Competitive Intelligence Nuclei in Santa Catarina, Brazil. These Nuclei will be coordinated by UFSC, UDESC and UNISUL universities, as an integrated project linking the academic research to the social-economic reality. The projects of the Nucleus will focuse the Strategic Management of Knowledge area, particularly in the Competitive Intelligence field. The main purpose of this study is to develop an organizational model as a descriptive tool for future diagnosis. The model is an adaptation of a competitive and management research led by the MIT at the end of the eighties. The competitive models and structures are very close to the knowledge management studies, mainly in the strategic dimension. The model has five dimensions: structure, strategy, technology, management process, and individuals and their scripts. The environment was described by means of a socioeconomics and technological approach, which took in consideration the organizational culture. The organization is described in a knowledge-based approach to cope with a knowledge-based environment in the information era.
