One can use it for beneficial purposes, such as restoring vintage content in old movies, or for nefarious purposes, such as creating fake footage to manipulate the public and distribute non-consensual pornography. A lot of work has been done to combat its improper use by detecting fake footage with good performance thanks to the availability of numerous public datasets and unimodal deep learning-based models. However, these methods are insufficient to detect multimodal manipulations, such as both visual and acoustic. This work proposes a novel lipreading based multimodal Deepfake detection method called "Lip Sync Matters." It targets high-level semantic features to exploit the mismatch between the lip sequence extracted from the video and the synthetic lip sequence generated from the audio by the Wav2lip model to detect forged videos. Experimental results show that the proposed method outperforms several existing unimodal, ensemble, and multimodal methods on the publicly available multimodal FakeAVCeleb dataset.

arXiv (Cornell University), Jun 30, 2019

The classification of amino acids and their sequence analysis plays a vital role in life sciences... more The classification of amino acids and their sequence analysis plays a vital role in life sciences and is a challenging task. Deep learning models have well-established frameworks for solving a broad spectrum of complex learning problems compared to traditional machine learning techniques. This article uses and compares state-of-the-art deep learning models like convolution neural networks (CNN), long short-term memory (LSTM), and gated recurrent units (GRU) to solve macromolecule classification problems using amino acids. We use word embedding to represent the amino acid sequences as vectors. The CNN extracts features from amino acid sequences, which are treated as vectors, then fed to the models mentioned above to train robust classifiers. Our results show that word2vec as embedding combined with VGG-16 performs better than LSTM and GRU. The proposed approach gets an error rate of 1.5%.

Diabetic retinopathy is the major cause of blindness. Severity of diabetic retinopathy is recognized by some features, such as blood vessel area, exudates, haemorrhages and micro aneurysms. To grade the disease the screening system must efficiently detect these features. In this paper we are proposing a simple and fast method for detection of diabetic retinopathy. We do pre-processing of grey-scale image and find all labelled connected components (blobs) in an image regardless of whether it is haemorrhages, exudates, vessels, optic disc or anything else. Then we apply some constraints such as compactness, area of blob, intensity and contrast for screening of candidate connected component responsible for diabetic retinopathy. We obtain our final results by doing some post processing. The results are compared with ground truths. Performance is measured by finding the recall (sensitivity). We took 10 images of dimension 500 * 752. The mean recall is 90.03%.

Detection and recognition of traffic panels text is still a challenge in computer vision due to its different types and hug asymmetric information. This paper proposed a method to detect roadside traffic panels and extract the information on them. In the first stage, blue, white and green color segmentation and structure classification is done for the purpose of detecting traffic panels. Detected region is then extracted from source image. Based on traffic panels background color mask is used to remove non text candidates. Maximally stable extremal regions (MSER) identify the stable characters regions. Finally, MSERs from every level are combined to form the ultimate segmentation. The proposed method is evaluated on Thai traffic panels and experiments show that it performs well for both English and Thai character.

It usually goes unnoticed because it is often asymptomatic but complications like diverticulitis, perforation, bleeding or intestinal obstruction can occur in 10-30% of the cases. Mechanical obstruction, if it occurs, can be caused by adhesions or stenosis due to diverticulitis, intussusception at the site of the diverticulum and volvulus of the segment containing the diverticula. Acute volvulus of the small bowel is a serious abdominal emergency that poses a difficulty in diagnosis and delayed operative intervention can lead to dire consequences. We herein report the case of a 42-yearold man presented at the emergency department with acute abdominal pain, absolute constipation and vomiting. Preoperative investigations followed by laparotomy revealed small gut volvulus and multiple giant jejunal and ileal diverticula.

From the remaining live, half of the parasitized birds i.e., 56 migratory sparrows, a treatment trial was conducted and an efficacy rate of 95% was observed 7 days post-medication.

Qualitative analysis is very essential for identifying the various classes of compounds present in the medicinal plants. Solanum nigrum (L) is an important herbaceous medicinal plant belongs to Solanacae family. Phytochemical screening of the crude extracts revealed the presence of secondary compounds such as alkaloids, flavonoids, steroids and tainns. Also the concentration of seven heavy metals Zinc (Zn), Cobalt (Co), Lead (Pb), Nickle (Ni), Cadmium (Cd), Iron (Fe) and Copper (Cu) were determined. On comparison the concentration of all metals were high in Solanum nigram. The iron was in high amount 46.46 mg/L, while cobalt was in less amount 0.082 mg/L in Solanum nigram. The fruit extract show a good antioxidant activity at low concentration at 20 and 40 ppm.

The intramuscular ED50 values of loxoprofen sodium in carrageenan edema and vascular permeability tests are 1.15 and 7.8 mg/kg, respectively, which represent more potent than in case of oral application. Its therapeutic effects in adjuvant arthritis were shown at 6 mg/kg i.m. and 3mg/kg p.o. Analgesic effect was shown to be more potent as given intramuscularly. Similar potency of antipyretic effects was shown in both administration routes. Considerably weak gastric damages were observed in intramuscular application.
