We find that it modifies the potential part of the Hamiltonian in such a way we get the Kratzer potential instead of the Coulomb one and this is similar to add a dipole potential or to consider the extended charged nature of the proton in the nucleus.

Design/methodology/approach – The Analytical Hierarchical Process (AHP) and the Analytical Network Process (ANP) are used for the selection of the most appropriate maintenance strategy in a local newspaper printing facility in Turkey. Findings – The two methods were shown to be effective in choosing a strategy for maintaining the printing machines. The two methods resulted in almost the same results. Both methods take into account the specific requirements of the organization through its own available expertise. Practical implications – The techniques demonstrated in this paper can be used by all types of organizations for selecting and adopting maintenance strategies that have higher impact on maintenance performance and hence overall business productivity. This method enables the adaptive determination of the most important human factors criteria and of the generation of recommendations for improving the hospital service quality. This method is illustrated and validated by

ABSTRACT The primary aim of this study is to determine critical factors of knowledge management (... more ABSTRACT The primary aim of this study is to determine critical factors of knowledge management (KM) and to measure their effect on organisational performance. The design of the study is based on a survey composed of questions related to the KM processes. Following refinement and retesting the initial questionnaire development, the final questionnaire was subjected to 83 managers from various ranks based on personal interviews. The variance-based structural equation modelling reveals that there is a strong positive relationship between KM implementation and non-financial performance, while there is no significant influence of KM implementation on financial performance. With only a mediating effect of non-financial performance, the KM implementation has a strong positive impact on financial performance. This study presents uniqueness in that it is the first and foremost one that analyses effects of KM practices on financial performance both directly and indirectly via the mediating effect of non-financial performance factors.

As the economy of these countries grow rapidly, their energy consumptions increase substantially. Turkey's high growth rate in the last decade resulted with significant increase in energy consumption. Policy makers should give critical decisions and develop new strategies for meeting this growing energy demand. Apparently, accurate predictions of the future energy consumption are vital for developing such strategies. In this study, we have used the state of the art computation methods to forecast the electricity consumption of Turkey. The forecast results are compared with real consumption values to measure the performance of the methods.

ABSTRACT Enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems that aim to integrate, synchronize and centra... more ABSTRACT Enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems that aim to integrate, synchronize and centralize organizational data is generally regarded as a vital tool for companies to be successful in the rapidly changing global marketplace. Due to its high acquisition—purchasing, installation and implementation—cost and the wide range of offerings, the selection of ERP systems is a strategically important and difficult decision. Since there is a wide range of tangible and intangible criteria to be considered, it is often defined as a multi-criteria decision making problem. To overcome the challenges imposed by the multifaceted nature of the problem, herein a three-stage hybrid methodology is proposed. The process starts with the identification of most prevailing criteria through a series of brainstorming sessions that include people from different organizational units. Then, due to the varying importance of the criteria, a fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process, which handles the vagueness inherent in the decision making process, is used to obtain the relative importance/weights of the criteria. These weighted criteria are then used as input to the Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution method to rank the decision alternatives. As a real-world illustrative case, the proposed methodology is applied to the ERP selection problem at Turkish Airlines. Because of the collaborative and systematic nature of the methodology, the results obtained from the process were found to be highly satisfactory and trustworthy by the decision makers.

With the right ERP system, it is easier to provide coordination between the units, eliminate waste and make faster and better decisions. Adopting an ERP system is a significant investment decision for a firm, therefore a great deal of attention should be given to the selection of the right system. Since there are a large number of criteria to consider in selecting an ERP system, the process itself is regarded as a complex multi-criteria decision making problem. In this study, two prevalent multi-criteria decision making techniques, Analytic Network Process (ANP) and Preference Ranking Organization Method for Enrichment Evaluations (PROMETHEE), are used in combination to better address the ERP selection problem. First, ANP is used to determine the weights of all criteria, and then, the obtained weights are used in the PROMETHEE method for optimal ranking of the alternative system choices. To demonstrate the viability of the proposed methodology, an application case is performed on the ERP selection problem for the Small Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in İstanbul, Turkey. The proposed hybrid methodology successfully ranked the alternatives and identified the best ERP system based on the information obtained from a number of SMEs participated in this study.
