Leakage characteristics were presented with a given range of pressure difference under cryogenic as well as room temperature conditions. For cryogenic tests, liquid nitrogen was used as analogic fluid of liquid oxygen (LOX) while water was used instead of kerosene for room temperature condition. Test results showed that IPS had satisfactory leakage performance. In this study, we empirically raise the issues of identity fraud in MMORPGs. In principle, the online game classification system controls the scope of users' activities with regard to the level of age appropriateness. However, the results from this study cast doubt on the effect of the current classification system in that distinctive behavior differences were not found to exist from one age group to another. Specifically, the econometric and multivariate analyses show that the behaviors of the group whose ages are around 40 is very similar to those of the group whose ages are under 14.

Mass customization on top of the Internet infrastructure is expected to explain these changes of product concentration. In this paper, we empirically analyzed the micro-transactional data of a Groupon-like daily deal web site to identify the changes of product and customer concentration. The results show the long tail pattern aligned with the previous research on the e-commerce literature on the long tail. We find that the notification setting on email or SMS about daily deal influences the patterns of sales concentration.

Prior information systems (IS) studies on online game focus primarily on user behavior. However, there is a growing need to investigate the effects of regulation policy on dynamic changes of games or service providers instead of ad hoc heuristic approaches on individual behavior. Going beyond the approaches of previous studies, this study empirically tests the regulation policy effect with three theoretical perspectives: social influence, prior experience and perceived switching cost. A vector autoregression (VAR) methodology is used to forecast game usage and to model several patterns of the co-movement of online games. Evidence is also provided of strong Granger-causal interdependencies within games and service providers. This study provides one of the first empirical evidences that examine the effects of regulati...

The ability to understand intentions becomes a central issue. The objective of this study was to present and test an Entrepreneurial Intentions (EI) model. Drawing on a generally utilized paradigm, the theory of planned behaviour and Shapiro’s model of the entrepreneurial event, we show the impact of individual and contextual factors on intention development. Relying on the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) data, we test an EI conceptual model. The EI conceptual model is tested using the GEM dataset from over 30 countries and 3 subgroups. All the variables of interest indicate positive and significant effects on EI. Our results indicate that EI is influenced by perceived opportunity, perceived capability and government support and policy.

The scaling relationship between the number of crimes and the population size for the maximum of 758 cities with more than 50,000 inhabitants in the United States from 1999 to 2014 was analyzed. For the total group of cities, the relationship is superlinear for both violent and property crimes. However, for the subgroups of the top 12, top 24, and top 50 largest cities, the relationship changes to sublinear for both violent and property crimes. Results from the panel data analysis are in support of these findings. Along with population size, income per capita and population density also influence the outcome of crime counts. Implications from these findings will be discussed.

We test the convergence in energy intensity using a large recent dataset: a 151-country sample during the period of 1980-2010. In addition, time phase and income are examined to identify the factors that influence a country's aggregate level of energy intensity. With income time-phased analysis, we discovered a pronounced convergence during the period between 1980 and 1990 and then a moderate convergence later during the period. With the subgroup analysis, middle income yields the most rapid convergence. Furthermore, high income's negative role is so pervasive that non-convergence or divergence may take place.

At the same time, the effects of popularity information are found to vary across product types. In this study, we attempt to identify the effects of popularity information on product sales through an analysis of the subgroups of category and price. Two sequential field experiments in an online apparel store on Alibaba's Tmall, the most dominant online brand marketplace in China, are conducted to capture the causal effects of the popularity information on sales. After observing the possible existence of popularity information effects through a pilot test of 17 products, we conduct the main experiment with 290 products, recording the daily sales for each by posting selected products on the hit list. The difference-indifferences method and propensity score matching are used to analyze the effects. The results show that once the products are displayed on the hit list, product sales increase by an average of 1.3 units per day. One subgroup of the niche product category is found to be influenced more significantly by hit list information than are other subgroups in the broad appeal category. Furthermore, after the hit list information is presented, more units of mid-price products are likely to be sold than units of products with high and low prices.

Durability study of the structures need the damage analysis with the creep-fatigue effects. In this paper, the damage analysis is studied for a turbine blade in the turbopump for a liquid rocket engine which is operated under high temperature condition. First of all, the load cycle is required for defining the operational characteristics of turbopump. The thermal stress analysis is done for a turbine blade of the turbopump. The stress analysis results are used to judge damage due to the creep and the fatigue. The strain-life method with miner rule is used for fatigue damage analysis. The Larson-Miller parameter master curve and robinson rule are used for the creep damage analysis. The linear damage summation method is used to consider creep-fatigue effects of turbopump turbine. Finally, the analysis results for fatigue and the influence are compared to figure out the damage phenomenon of the turbopump turbine.

Starting with Groupon, most daily-deal sites required that voucher sales be higher than a predetermined number before deals become active. This feature, known as the "tipping point," was a unique characteristic of the daily-deal business and is identified as one of the most prominent features of social shopping. Most daily-deal sites also required that a redemption period start after a deal was over and be fixed, usually 90 days, presumably to maximize the promotional effect of deals by encouraging rapid voucher redemption. The question remains, however, whether such features actually contributed to the success of the daily-deal industry. Using individual-level panel data from a major dailydeal site in Korea, we analyze whether consumers' purchase and redemption behaviors were affected by these features and how consumers changed their behaviors as they continued to purchase and redeem vouchers over time. We find that the presence of the tipping point did not boost voucher sales and likely deterred new customers from buying deals right away. We also find that new customers tended to redeem their vouchers quickly, and this likely caused the small businesses that offered deals to become overwhelmed. It is not surprising, given our findings, that both Groupon and the Korean daily deal site abandoned the use of the tipping point and modified redemption rules.

Social Commerce can be defined as the electronic commerce triggered by social media. It has been growing very rapidly with enormous discount rate, quality services and precise information. This research analyzes effects of posted numeric information on daily sales volumes. Hetrosckedasticity arises with the real transaction data that was acquired from TicketMonster which is one of the biggest Social Commerce sites in Korea. Therefore, GLS model was applied to have results that original price, discounted price, minimum quantity to have discounted price, and maximum units of sales are statistically significant. Minimum quantity of sales to meet the requirement to have discounted prices has threshold effect on the purchase of consumers like the ways they have group buying on the Internet. However, additional studies are required to identify if this correlated information can be results of reasonable estimates by the vendors and the intermediary or play a role of signal to attract sales. More research opportunities are addressed on services types, consumer groups and information richness.
