The subject of the research is teaching Russian as a foreign language in the Democratic People... more The subject of the research is teaching Russian as a foreign language in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. The object of the study is the methodology of teaching Russian as a foreign language. In the article, the author presents the results of the analysis of the textbook series "Russian language". The following research methods were used: a comprehensive analysis of the "Russian language" textbook series, analysis and generalization of methodological techniques used in the textbooks, and drawing of conclusions. The theoretical significance and scientific novelty of the study lies in the fact that the textbooks used for teaching the Russian language in the DPRK was considered and analyzed for the first time in a Russian scientific journal, the features of the methodology for teaching Russian as a foreign language in the DPRK and the presentation of educational material in the considered textbooks were identified, a number of recommendations were made regarding improvement the quality of the textbooks. The main conclusions of the scientific study are that when studying the Russian language in the schools of the DPRK, the main emphasis is made on memorizing phrases and developing the ability to reproduce them, but not on developing the ability to express one's thoughts. The ideological component can be traced quite strongly in the textbooks considered. The absence of native speakers in the team of authors led to a significant number of errors on the pages of the textbooks.

The article examines the phenomenon of lucid dreaming, which means a dream where a dr... more The article examines the phenomenon of lucid dreaming, which means a dream where a dreamer is aware of being in a dream state and can often influence the course of the dream to some extent. While some researchers of lucid dreaming compare the lucid dreaming state to a waking state and claim it combines cognitive elements of waking consciousness with the hallucinatory quality of dreaming, most recent researches suggest that some types of lucid dreams might be seen as a spontaneous meditative state. The research question for this article is if modern practice of lucid dreaming is a separate phenomenon that shares some characteristics of meditative experience. In order to answer the research question, both quantitative and qualitative research methods were used. Data collection was done with the help of online surveys. The author chose random sampling to sample a group of lucid dreamers. One hundred sixteen surveys were completed. Based on the research done,the author comes to the conclusion that lucid dreamers share the experiences typical of meditation practice. The author points out that lucid dreaming is not identical to being mindful in the dream state as well. Such commonly experienced sensations during a lucid dream as desire to control, desire to fly, and euphoria differ it from the state that ‘dream yoga’ or similar states in other religious traditions try to achieve.

In the article, the author studies the modern community of George Gurdjieff’s followers. The auth... more In the article, the author studies the modern community of George Gurdjieff’s followers. The author sees the core idea of George Gurdjieff’s teaching as a conscious evolution of a man, first of all through awakening from what he calls a semi-hypnotic “waking sleep,” in which he claimed people ordinarily live. The author compares Gurdjieff's concept of self-remembering with similar concepts in Buddhism and Hinduism. The research question is whether modern followers of George Gurdjieff’s teaching rethink the goal and methods of Gurdjieff’s teaching under the influence of Hindu and Buddhist concepts. In order to answer the research question, the author primarily uses quantitative research method. By analyzing the online surveys, received from Gurdjieff’s followers, the author comes to the conclusion that Gurdjieff’s followers tend to utilize some concepts from Hinduism and Buddhism that were not widely proliferated during the life George Gurdjieff. The author supposes his followers will continue acquiring elements from other teachings, or modern psychological theories.

The author assumes that lucid dreaming may have more in common with Gurdjieff’s remembering oneself and mindfulness than with the normal waking state. Based on the survey of modern western lucid dreamers and previous researchers done in this field the author comes to the conclusion that we can talk about an autonomous face of a modern lucid dreamer who is not much connected with Hindu and Buddhist concepts. Lucid dreaming, as practiced by modern lucid dreamers in the West, does not seem to have a goal of transcending one’s ego and achieving non-dual awareness, but it does have that general goal for some practitioners of Hindu and Buddhist philosophies. Russian-Chinese relations have at least 400-year history. Although there were rises and falls in... more Russian-Chinese relations have at least 400-year history. Although there were rises and falls in the bilateral relations during this period, Russian-Chinese relations hardly ever ceased to be an important factor of the foreign policy of the two countries. In recent years they are increasingly gaining global significance.
Contemporary Russian-Chinese relations can be characterized by intensive development, branched organizational structure, and dynamic connections at all levels. Russian-Chinese relations also have a sound legal framework which embraces more than 300 intergovernmental treaties and agreements on almost all spheres of cooperation between the two countries.

However, betting on demographics alone is unlikely to be enough to solve these problems.

The author assumes that lucid dreaming may have more in common with Gurdjieff’s remembering oneself and mindfulness than with the normal waking state. Based on the survey of modern western lucid dreamers and previous researchers done in this field the author comes to the conclusion that we can talk about an autonomous face of a modern lucid dreamer who is not much connected with Hindu and Buddhist concepts. Lucid dreaming, as practiced by modern lucid dreamers in the West, does not seem to have a goal of transcending one’s ego and achieving non-dual awareness, but it does have that general goal for some practitioners of Hindu and Buddhist philosophies. Many modern secular lucid dreamers in the West and other regions of the globalized world which have close cultural ties with the West do not practice any Hindu or Buddhist practices of witnessing and non-attachment in lucid dreams, and often see lucid dreaming as a fun activity for personal enjoyment and creativity.
