This relationship is critical for sustained organizational performance; however, this relationship can be challenged by the existence of employee silence in the organizational setting. Based on self-determination theory, this study measured the impact of transactional leadership on job satisfaction as well as the part of employee silence in the leadership–satisfaction relationship in a public organizational setting. The study sample consisted of employees working at the Ministry of Justice in Jordon, and 450 questionnaires were applied with 357 useable questionnaires being returned. The data were tested through confirmatory factor analysis, correlation and regression analyses, and structural equation modeling. The results showed a strong positive relationship between transactional leadership and job satisfaction, though employee silen...

Design/methodology/approach: The respondents of the study were academics engaged in the education sector in North Cyprus. Structural equation modelling (SEM), regression analysis and bootstrapping technique were employed to test the model and the hypotheses. Findings/results: The statistical findings confirm that the presence of an ethical leader encouraged and motivated employees to develop a politically transparent environment, which in turn encouraged academics to develop organisational citizenship behaviours and reduce social loafing intentions in their workplace. Practical implications: The results demonstrated that organisations aiming to increase organisational performance through encouraging employee discretionary behaviours are recommended to hire and promote ethical leaders and develop strategies to measure perceived levels of organisational politics. Originality/value: This study fills a gap in the literature by asserting that the complete chain effects of an ethical leadership network enhance employee positivity and reduce negative discretionary behaviours. It also highlights that the effect of ethical leadership on organisational citizenship behaviours (OCBs) and social loafing was partially contingent on perceived organisational politics.

CSR is a key concept for banks to attract, retain, satisfy and increase the loyalty of customers. Structural equation modeling was conducted to test the proposed relationship. The questionnaire was filled out by 389 banking sector customers. The findings suggested that customer identification mediates the relationship between the economic development dimension of CSR and customer satisfaction and loyalty. However, customer identification did not show a mediating effect between social equity and environmental protection dimension of CSR and customer loyalty and satisfaction. The findings are expected to provide insights into the importance of CSR for the banking industry in order to enhance favorable customer attitudes.

In the existing literature there are different types of preference relations, mainly fuzzy preference relations, linguistic preference relations, etc. In the existing literature preference representation formats that consider the self-confidence of the decision maker is neglected. In this paper we investigate the personnel selection decision making problem, specifically choosing the best candidate for a vacant faculty post taking into account the self confidence level of the decision maker. A numerical example with 5 criteria and 5 alternatives is provided.

Job satisfaction, which is a complicated multi-dimensional concept, has been a popular topic of research for many decades. The interest in this topic has been embraced by psychologists, management scholars, and more recently even economists. Unfortunately, in existing studies job satisfaction is investigated using only exact data not taking into account uncertainty and vagueness of obtained initial information. In this paper we suggest a fuzzy logic approach to the evaluation of job satisfaction taking into account that it is not always possible to deal with exact data or data with sharply defined boundaries. More specifically, we propose a fuzzy rule-based approach to evaluate the job satisfaction in an organization. The factors/facets of job satisfaction were collected thro...

The quantitative cross-sectional study design was utilized to gather information from a study sample which consisted of 428 front-line employees (FLE) working at banks located in North Cyprus. Specifically, the study uses confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), correlation, structural equation modeling (SEM), and bootstrapping techniques to test the hypothesized relationships. The results reveal that both AL and PP have a significant positive effect on SIB; AL has a positive impact on PP of FLE, and PP plays a partial mediating role between AL and SIB of FLE. By relating the study findings, authenticity and proactivity in the banking sector in North Cyprus play a critical role in fostering the innovative behaviors of FLE. Service-oriented OCB has been somewhat ignored (Yoon & Suh 2003); however, with the growth of the service industry, the behaviour of service-oriented employees' has come to light. Serviceoriented employees are constantly engaged in direct contact with their customers (Bartel 2004); therefore, the OCB of service-oriented employees can increase their performance and enhance service quality. Even though there is a lack of research on the influence of OD on individual behaviours, research on other organisational practices exists and indicates the influences of these practices on creating positive behaviour, which has been seen to improve organisational performance. The banking sector is a service-oriented sector in which performance is realised through providing superior customer service. However, research on OCB in the banking sector is not very evident in the literature and represents a significant gap. In this sense, the main objective Background: It has been said that organisational democracy influences the improvement of behavioural orientations related to being good organisational citizens. Objectives: The main purpose of this study was to provide empirical evidence on bank employees' perceptions towards organisational democracy and their organisational citizenship behaviour, in addition to indicating whether a relationship exists between organisational democracy and organisational citizenship behaviour. Method: Data were collected through the use of a questionnaire. The population of the study consisted of bank employees working at branches of a private bank located in the province of Istanbul, Turkey. A total of 240 bank employees took part in the study. Data analysis entailed the computation of descriptive statistics, as well as t-test, analysis of variance (ANOVA) test, correlation analysis and regression analysis. Results: The study results indicated that a statistically significant relationship exists between the bank employees' perceptions of organisational democracy and their organisational citizenship behaviour. Conclusion: Through this study, it can be concluded that organisational democracy is an important variable that can be used by managers to facilitate the favourable behaviour of employees and to promote the sense of citizenship that employees feel towards their organisation, which in turn will positively influence organisational performance.

Structural equation modelling and hierarchical regression were used and the model was tested through the collection of data from questionnaires completed by high school teachers in Northern Cyprus. The findings of the study indicate that teachers are more intrinsically satisfied with their jobs when compared to extrinsic and overall job satisfaction, and that teachers display a high degree of organisational citizenship behaviour. The findings also show that, as hypothesised, teachers’ job satisfaction (overall, intrinsic and extrinsic) positively influences organisational citizenship behaviour, however intrinsic job satisfaction is the most influential. Practical implications for both organisations and education institutions a...

The leadership styles identified for the study were autocratic, democratic, laissez-faire, and charismatic. The demographic factors were gender, nationality, education level, management level, and job experience. A total of 120 managers participated in the study. The results indicated that charismatic leadership is the dominant leadership style and there is a statistically significant relationship between laissez-faire leadership style and the nationality of managers. However, no statistically significant relationship exists between leadership styles and the other demographic variables examined namely, gender, management level, education level, and work experience.
