The analysis explores key similarities and differences, emphasizing their implications for businesses and individuals. The EU GDPR, implemented in 2018, stands as a landmark regulation governing data protection and privacy for individuals within the European Union and the European Economic Area. In contrast, the United States lacks a comprehensive federal data privacy law. Instead, it relies on a patchwork of sectorspecific laws and state regulations, such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and the

This review examines the comparative analysis of urban resilience strategies in Lagos, Nigeria, and New York City, USA, focusing on their responses to environmental disasters. Both cities encounter distinct environmental hazards, including flooding, hurricanes, and heatwaves, albeit within different socioeconomic contexts. Lagos, Africa's most populous city, grapples with rapid urbanization, inadequate infrastructure, and informal settlements, exacerbating its vulnerability to environmental disasters. In contrast, New York City, a global financial hub, confronts challenges posed by its dense urban fabric, aging infrastructure, and coastal exposure. Despite differing contextual factors, both cities strive to enhance their resilience through various strategies. Lagos employs a mix of top-down and bottom-up approaches, emphasizing community engagement, early warning systems, and infrastructure improvements to mitigate flood risks. Initiatives such as the Lagos State Resilience Strategy and the implementation of green infrastructure projects signify efforts to enhance adaptive capacity and reduce vulnerability. Conversely, New York City adopts a multifaceted approach, integrating policy frameworks, technological innovations, and community-based initiatives to bolster resilience. Post-Hurricane Sandy, the city launched the "OneNYC" plan, emphasizing infrastructure upgrades, coastal protection measures, and climate adaptation strategies to withstand future shocks. Comparative analysis reveals both convergences and divergences in urban resilience strategies. While Lagos prioritizes grassroots involvement and lowcost solutions, New York emphasizes institutional coordination and investment in resilient infrastructure. Challenges persist in both contexts, including funding constraints, governance issues, and socioeconomic disparities, underscoring the need for holistic and inclusive resilience frameworks. Understanding the nuances of urban resilience in diverse contexts can inform policy interventions and best practices transferable across cities globally. By examining the experiences of Lagos and New York, this review contributes to the discourse on building resilient cities capable of navigating environmental uncertainties and safeguarding the well-being of urban populations.

The relationship between an employer and employee though governed by various laws and regulations... more The relationship between an employer and employee though governed by various laws and regulations can still at some point witness some disagreements and dispute. Labour disputes are not uncommon neither are they peculiar to a particular industry in a country. Usually, trade disputes are hinged on agitation of employees for compensation, good working conditions, job stability and agitation against unlawful termination or dismissal of from service. Over the years, employees have adopted different ways to exhibit their discomfort and grievances in order to convey their message such as strike actions, peaceful protest and so on. There's no doubt that these disputes will drastically reduce the level of productivity and overall beneficial impact of the industries in the economic growth of the country. Hence, there's a need to adopt strategies for resolving these labour disputes. Some industries have applied round table discussions, arbitration, mediation, collective bargaining as well as grievances remedial processes. This work will provide an overview of the causes of disputes in the corporate sector, examine the features of the Nigerian and United States disputes resolution system and also juxtapose the strategies for resolving labour disputes in the two countries. Furthermore, it will provide recommendations to effectively addressing labour issues within the business sector.

The primary aim was to discern the role of NGOs in fostering sustainable community development, especially in the Niger Delta region, a hotspot for oil exploration with its attendant environmental and socioeconomic challenges. Through a comprehensive literature review, the study examined the historical context, the socioeconomic landscape, and the environmental degradation resulting from oil activities. The methods employed involved a critical analysis of existing literature, supplemented by case studies and empirical data. Results highlighted the pivotal role of NGOs in addressing the challenges faced by communities in the Niger Delta. However, the ethical dimensions of their interventions raised pertinent questions about sustainability, the nature of their engagement, and the broader socio-political implications. The study underscored the concept of reciprocal responsibility, emphasizing the importance of co-created solutions and active community participation. In conclusion, while NGOs have made significant strides in community development, the ethical foundation of their initiatives determines their lasting impact. Recommendations include fostering informed consent, protecting vulnerable populations, nurturing genuine community partnerships, and prioritizing research into emerging ethical considerations. The paper paves the way for a more ethically grounded approach to community development, ensuring that interventions resonate with the aspirations and well-being of the communities they serve.
