The materials were characterized by the methods of scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and UV-Visible and FT-IR. The average diameter of new nano-particles was estimated to be about 60 nm. A novel Nafion-riboflavin membrane was also constructed and characterized by the methods of SEM, TEM and UV-Visible spectroscopy. The estimated average diameter of the new nanoparticles was about 60 nm. The functional membranes of Nafion-riboflavin and Nafion-methylene blue showed a quasi-reversible electrochemical behavior, on the gold electrode, with a formal potential of-562 ± 5 and-305 ± 5 mV (vs. Ag/AgCl), respectively. Some electrochemical parameters were also estimated, indicating that the systems present good and stable electron transfer properties. Our data proved that Nafion can be an interesting and helpful material in constructing nanoparticles of different electro-active materials and in their stable immobilization.

Research paper thumbnail of The Comparison of Normal and Drug-dependent Soldiers Concerning Problem-solving Styles

Accordingly, this research aimed to compare problem-solving styles in normal and dependent soldiers in a cross sectional form of study in 2010. Methods: It is a descriptive-comparative study with a sample of 100 subjects (50 drugdependent soldiers accompanied by 50 normal ones). The tools in this study were scale of problem solving (Long and Cassidy) plus demographic questionnaire. Then, the data were analyzed using methods of descriptive statistics (frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation) and inferential statistics (mean comparison, ANOVA) using SPSS software. Results: Findings showed that two groups were different in all domains of problem-solving styles and drug-dependent group got higher means in the areas of helplessness, problem-solving control and avoidance style. The mentioned group had lower means in creative problem-solving style, problem-solving confidence and approach style (p<0/001). Conclusion: According to the results, it is recommended training the youth prone to danger in skills of increasing self-esteem, resistance against psychological pressures and finally relaxation and coping with stress for better interpersonal relationships.

Research paper thumbnail of Effects of utilization of the components of learning organization in higher education

Using the view of the components of the learning organization by Marquardt (Knowledge management, capacity building, technology application, the dynamics of learning and organizational development) is among such methods. The principles of the university as a learning organization and development of quality processes of higher education have the great impact. This paper describes an analytical method for studying the effects of student organizations of the university and tries to analyse the basic concepts of a learning organization in connection with the Higher Education and offer some recommendations to improve its learnable rate.

Research paper thumbnail of An Investigation into the Interface of Critical thinking, Personality Factors and Gender on Reading Comprehension Ability among EFL Learners

Global Journal of Foreign Language Teaching, Nov 26, 2014

The aim of the current study was twofold: first of all to identify if the interaction effect of Introversion/ Extroversion and CT skills, (high, low and intermediate) affected the comprehension ability of advanced EFL learners. Secondly, it scrutinized the interaction effect of gender and CT skills on reading comprehension ability of advanced EFL learners. To fulfill the aforementioned purposes, a 34-item Persian translated version of California Critical Thinking Test, brief version of Eysinck Personality Test and a TOFEL Reading comprehension test were utilized. The results indicated gender and personality factors did not mediate CT on reading comprehension ability, however, a statistically significant difference among different levels of CT and reading comprehension scores was observed. Therefore, the results suggest a curriculum and content reform so as to assist language learners to become acquainted and adopted with trends and new technologies in an attempt to be able to realize truth from falsity in this hazy world of globalization.
