Response surface methodology (RSM) was applied for the design and analysis of experiments in the optimization of pH, temperature, initial concentration, contact time and adsorbent dose during the removal of the Cr (VI). The optimum adsorbent dose, temperature, initial concentration of Cr (VI), pH and contact time were found to be 0.8 g, 46.5 o C, 187.5 mg/L, 5.3 and 15.4 min respectively. Under optimal values of process parameters, high removal efficiency (>90%) was obtained for Cr (VI). Analysis of variance (ANOVA) of central composite design showed a high coefficient of determination value (R 2 = 0.96) and satisfactory prediction second-order regression model was derived. Maximum chromium removal efficiency was predicted and experimentally validated. The Langmuir, Freundlich and Dubinin-Radushkevick isotherms are subjected to sorption data to estimate sorption capacity. The results gained from this study were well described by the theoretical Freundlich. Three equations, i.e. Morris-Weber, Lagergren and pseudo-second order have been tested to track the kinetics of adsorption process. The results gained from this study were well described by the theoretical pseudo-second order. The removal of Cr (VI) by PPy was also investigated in a fixed bed column. Experiments were conducted to study the effect of important parameters such as bed depth (5-20 cm), flow rate (5-15 ml min −1) and initial concentration (50-300 mg/L). Also the PPy was used for the Cr (VI) removal from industrial wastewater and showed a high potential for the wastewater treatment.

This study aimed to evaluate the prevalence of HCV infection and related risk factors in the general population of two villages, Farmashkan and Akbarabad, of the Kavar City in Fars Province, Iran. A 34-month cross-sectional study was performed on all people of the villages aged ≥ 7 years from July 2007 to April 2010. Demographic information and history of HCV-related risk factors were extracted from their medical records. For each participant, the serum anti-HCV IgG was assessed by the commercial enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) kits. A total of 6095 participants (36.4% male and 65.6% female) with the mean age of 92 (7-95) and mean ± SD of 34.6 ± 17.3 years were included in this study. Fifteen persons (0.24%) were detected as HCV-positive and the highest prevalence was seen in age ≤ 12 years old (1%). A significant ass...

The subjects of the study were all infertile women, who came to infertility section of Motazedi hospital in Kermanshah. Using the convenience sampling and with the participants’ consent, it was asked from them to answer 4 inventories. Also using the convenience sampling, it was asked from 80 fertile women to answer the inventories. The results showed that: differences between infertile and fertile woman in depression and anxiety variables was significant; but in happiness and satisfaction variables was not significant. Also, 66/2 percent of infertile women and 46/2 percent of fertile women suffered a degree of depression. The results also showed that 77/3 percent of infertile women and 67/5 percent of fertile women suffered a degree of anxiety.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.3126/ijls.v8i4.10892
