We examine continuous Galerkin-Petrov (cGP) time discretization schemes for nonstationary incompressible flow. In particular, we implement and analyze numerically the higher order cGP(2)-method. For the space discretization, we use the LBB-stable finite element pair Q 2 /P disc 1. The discretized systems of nonlinear equations are treated by using the fixed-point as well as the Newton method and the associated linear subproblems are solved by using a monolithic multigrid solver with GMRES method as smoother. We perform nonstationary simulations for a benchmarking configuration to analyze the temporal accuracy and efficiency of the presented time discretization scheme.

Such patients are difficult to manage by most of the dentists. Thus, one of challenging skills during the treatment procedure is the management of the gag reflex. The purpose of this study is to introduce a simpler and a convenient chair side method to manage these patients, i.e. by using lignocaine local anesthetic solution cartridges, which are readily available in the clinics for attainment local anesthesia and block administration. Methods: Total of 80 patients were selected, and divided into two groups of 40 each. Alginate impressions were made for both of the groups. In group A, one cartridge of lignocaine solution was incorporated and in the group B two cartridges were incorporated in the material. Results: In group A, 21 (52.5%) moderate and 19 (47.5%) severe gag patients and in Group B, 16 (40%) moderate and 24 (60%) severe gag patients didn't show any gag reflex when the lignocaine was mixed with alginate impression material. Conclusion: Little modification in the impression material can give better results, making patient more comfortable during the impression procedure.

To make the study accounts for a practical problem, constant heat flux is applied at the bottom of the cavity which is covered by a thin porous layer subjected to a cold impingement air jet. Darcy-Forchheimer model is used for the porous layer and its porosity range was taken to ensure thermal equilibrium between the fluid and the porous matrix. Finite element method is adopted for the numerical solution. Results show that the best thickness of the porous layer should be as minimal as possible, where increasing the porous layer thickness from 0.1 to 0.3 reduces the average Nusselt number by 17% when Darcy number is 10−3. It is found also that the trapezoidal cavity serves in attaining the fully developed condition early.

The study was mixed method and data were gathered with a questionnaire and semistructured interviews. The validity and reliability of the scales were ensured through experts' opinion, pilot testing and Croanbach Alpha score. The population comprised the students of M.S/M.Phil and Ph.D. A sample of 800 students was selected randomly from 10 Universities. The statistical tests like mean, standard deviation and correlation were used. Results revealed that digital literacy had significant effects on communication skills, research skills and confidence of the students and insignificant effect on students' CGPA.

Upon photoexcitation, the intramolecular proton transfer reaction of alizarin occurs in 70-80 fs, which is confirmed both by the population growth and the frequency and bandwidth changes of skeletal vibrational modes of alizarin. Interestingly, the vibrational frequencies of ν(C=C) and ν(C=O) show opposite shifts during the reaction, which may implicate changes in the resonance structure of anthraquinone and the attached carbonyl group. Vibrational relaxation in the potential surface of the proton transferred tautomer of alizarin and the population decay occurring with two distinct time scales were also observed in addition to the solvation dynamics of DMSO solvent molecules.

Democracy and development are normally associated with the experience and conditions of Western E... more Democracy and development are normally associated with the experience and conditions of Western European modernity. As mentioned in the introduction to this volume, Western powers presented democracy and its promises to the newly decolonized third world, partly to dissuade them from joining the ranks of communism and partly as a means of achieving social and economic development. In the second half of the twentieth century, democracy became part of the discourse on human rights, as access to basic necessities was termed a human rights issue that only democracy could address. It was however unclear as to how democracy was supposed to promote human development and protect people’s rights. The general ways in which we understand this connection is that democratic societies give rise to a secular public sphere, called the “civil society,” where social actors vie for power and interests and in the end reach a settlement that is beneficial for all: the invisible hand of Adam Smith, sort of. The belief in this magical power of democracy in bestowing such qualities on the public sphere are, however, not misplaced as European experience does point to this very effect of democracy in many Western liberal and social democracies. But as mentioned in the introduction of this volume, democratic experiences tend to be contextual, and what works in one context may not necessarily work in others. Despite this, we saw an increased association of democracy and development aid throughout the world in the dying years of the last century. Clearly, as anthropologists have shown, such a coupling is not only simplistic and false, it can be counterproductive and violent when implemented (Lewis, 2005; Sardon, 2005).

Achievement goals were further divided into two types: mastery and performance. The participants were 119 students enrolled in M. A. Education, Department of Education at the University of Sargodha. The questionnaire used in the original study, along with Urdu translation, was administered to the participants. The questionnaire consisted of three sections measuring mastery goals, performance goals, and meta-cognition, respectively. The academic achievement record was taken from the Office of Department of Education. Academic achievement was taken as marked and obtained at the Matric, Intermediate, Bachelors, and M.A. levels. It was concluded there is no significant correlation between mastery goals and academic achievement. Similarly, there was no significant correlation between performance goals and academic a...

Sixty secondary school teachers were selected as a sample. The qualitative data in the form of interview responses were collected to explore teachers’ perceptions about democracy, problems in the smooth running of democracy and remedies to these problems. Five-point Likert-type attitude toward democracy scale (ATDS) was developped to assess the attitude of secondary school teachers toward democracy. The data were analysed by applying one sample t-test. The study provide discussion at concusions drawn about democratic values and attitude of teachers toward democracy.
