The compound was extracted by cold extraction and separated and identified on a AgNO3 impregnated silica gel 60 F254 HPTLC plates with dichloromethane:acetone (9.8:0.2 v/v) as mobile phase. The quantification of geremcare D was carried out by densitometry scanning performed at λ = 254 nm by reflectance scanning. This facilitated a well-resolved band for the compound with a Rf value of 0.46 ± 0.01. Linear regression concentration analysis data for mean calibration plots showed good linear relationship in the range of 1000-10000 ng/mL, with a correlation coefficient, slope and intercept of 0.9985 ± 0.0004, 21.62 ± 0.435 and 3308.87 ± 10.24, respectively. The minimum amount of germacrene D that could be authentically detected (LOD) and quantified (LOQ) were determined and found to be 212.07 and 521.23 ng/spot, respectively. The method was validated by considering the parameters linearity, precision, accuracy, specificity and robustness wherein, it is evident from the results that the proposed method was simple, safe and reliable.

Kudremukha and Donimalai is known for producing high grades of iron in Karnataka state. The present study aims to analyze the spectral signatures and volumetric determinations of iron ore deposits which were well developed and was being mined in Kemmanagundi of Bababudan hills in Chikmagalur district. Field random samples were collected for laboratory work and analysis in determining the spectral signature curves and volumetric content. The spectral signatures of any mineral will discriminated based on their characteristics features of absorption and reflectance curves. Volumetric analysis is generally one of the quantitative methods that deal with determination of amount of particular elements in tested sample. As demand of iron in India is expected to inc...

This imbalance provides a logical pathobiochemical mechanism for the initiation and development of several disease states. It is believed that several diseases, for instance cancer, diabetes, ageing, hypertension, obesity and cardiac dysfunction and other degenerative diseases in humans which involve oxidative processes are mediated by free radicals. [1-4] Various phytochemicals including lignans and their related natural antioxidants from tea, spices and herbs, have intensively been studied and reported for their most important part in suppression of reactive oxygen species. [5] Lignans are widely distributed polyphenol compounds isolated from diverse plants, trees or seeds. Being an essential class of natural products and second class of phytoestrogens, they have attracted considerable interest due to their fascinating biological activities.

The anti-inflammatory and ulcerogenic activities of the compounds were compared with naproxen, indomethacin, and phenylbutazone. In carrageenan-induced foot pad edema assay, benzophenone analogues showed an interesting anti-inflammatory activity. In the air-pouch test, some of the analogues reduced the total number of leukocytes of the exudate, which indicates inhibition of prostaglandin production. Side effects of the compounds were examined on gastric mucosa, in the liver and stomach. None of the compounds showed significant side effects compared with nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as indomethacin and naproxen.

Green Tea is one of the most ancient and popular therapeutic beverages consumed around the world.... more Green Tea is one of the most ancient and popular therapeutic beverages consumed around the world. This product is made from the leaf of the plant called "Camellia sinensis". It can be prepared as a drink, which can have many systemic health effects or an "extract" can be made from the leaves to use as medicine. This beneficial effect has been attributed to the presence of high amounts of polyphenols, which are potent antioxidants. In particular, green tea may lower blood pressure and thus reduce the risk of stroke and coronary heart disease. The aim of recent study was achieved to compare the antioxidant properties and phenolic contents. In this view the antioxidant efficacy of green tea extract and the effectiveness compared to the standard antioxidant, ascorbic acid based on many methods have been demonstrated.
