All registered type 2 diabetes mellitus patients attending Urban Health Centre, were subjected to complete systemic examination and dermatological examination between January and December 2016. The presence or absences of skin lesions were noted and follow-up was done to document new manifestations. Among 180 study participants, prevalence of cutaneous manifestations was 48.8% and cumulative incidence was 47.77 per 100 Diabetics. Most common lesion were skin tags (47.7%) and tinea paedis (21.5%).

It was industrially synthesized by traditional process which generates more waste and used hazardous organic solvents. Hence, it is need to develop environmental benign catalytic synthesis of ibuprofen. We synthesized pearl necklace shaped gold nanostructured material with diameter about 4 nm. Gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) were prepared and tested for the activity in the catalytic reduction of 4-nitrophenol (4-NP) to 4-aminophenol (4-AP) showed excellent catalytic performance. Further, using AuNPs we catalytically synthesized 1-(4-isobutylphenyl)ethanol which is important drug intermediate for the widely used Ibuprofen. The rate constants was determined at room temperature 0.167 ± 0.003 per minute. The recyclability study of AuNPs in the reduction of 1-(4-isobutylphenyl)ethanone (IBPEON) to 1-(4-isobutylphenyl)ethanol (IBPE) in six consecutive reaction cycles found to be (92%), (89%), (86%), (85%), (81%), (77%), respectively. Experiments are being conducted to ascertain the influence of wettability on recovery efficiency in representative Alaskan cores, and demonstrate how influencing is the wettability through injection of fluids with different salinity and composition can be used to improve recovery efficiency. Effects of salinity on wettability and residual oil saturation during water flooding are of particular interest in the ongoing experiments. It is very evident that changing the wettability conditions of ANS reservoirs by means of injected brine composition and salinity may be a viable, economical means to achieve significant improvements in the EOR efficiency in Alaskan reservoirs. A number of waterfloods were performed in secondary mode (low salinity brine injected from initial water saturation) at partial reservoir conditions (i.e. reservoir temperature and reservoir brine). Experiments thus far showed reduction in residual ...

Research paper thumbnail of Primary care-based prevalence of cutaneous lesions among type 2 diabetes mellitus in urban areas of Belagavi, India

International Journal Of Community Medicine And Public Health, 2020

Background: Diabetic complications affects every organ and skin is no exception. Cutaneous signs ... more Background: Diabetic complications affects every organ and skin is no exception. Cutaneous signs are extremely valuable to physicians as some alert the diagnosis of diabetes mellitus and reflect on glycemic control and lipid metabolism. To estimate the prevalence of cutaneous lesions in urban areas of Belagavi and to find the associated factors. Methods: Data was collected from type 2 diabetes mellitus patients attending Primary care Urban Health Centre. Current diabetics from the Diabetic Register, maintained in the Urban Health Centres were included, and patients’ medical records were reviewed for information regarding duration, medications and complications of diabetes. Information about socio-demographic profile, general physical examination, systemic and cutaneous examination were recorded using validated, predesigned and pretested proforma. All patients were asked detailed history regarding skin complaints, duration of type 2 diabetes mellitus, family history and treatment o...

Research paper thumbnail of Synthesis of Ibuprofen intermediate using alcoholic silver nanoparticles and its kinetics: A greener approach towards drug synthesis

Chemical Physics Letters, 2017

Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) were prepared and tested for the activity in the catalytic reduction... more Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) were prepared and tested for the activity in the catalytic reduction of 4-nitrophenol to 4-aminophenol showing to be exceptionally active. Further, using AgNPs we catalytically synthesized 1-(4-isobutylphenyl)ethanol which is important drug intermediate for the widely used Ibuprofen. The rate constants were determined at temperatures 298K, 303K, 308K, 313K, 318K, 232K correspond to 0.29 min-1 , 0.37 min-1 , 0.40 min-1 , 0.43 min-1 , 0.50 min-1 , 0.68 min-1 , respectively. The activation energy of AgNPs is 23.25 KJ/mol. The number of collisions of reactants in the term of frequency factor was found to be high 1.99 × 10 8 min.-1 and average heat of reaction is 26.1 KJ/mol. The recyclability study of AgNPs in the reduction of 1-(4-isobutylphenyl)ethanone (4-IBPEON) to 1-(4-isobutylphenyl)ethanol (4-IBPE) in six consecutive reaction cycles found to be (0.91g, 90 %), (0.89g, 88%), (0.87g, 86%), (0.84g, 83%), (0.84g, 83%), (0.81g, 80%), respectively. We promisingly minimize the waste generated in the synthesis of 4-IBPE by calculation E-factor and atom efficiency and was found to 0.57 and 81.56%, respectively. Reported experimental results were directly relevance to develop theoretical concepts.

Research paper thumbnail of Buckling behaviour of underwater vessels by experimental, numerical and analytical approaches

The shells were tested for buckling under hydrostatic loading and microstrains as a function of applied hydrostatic pressure were measured. Numerical analysis was performed for critical buckling pressure based on Block Lancoz buckling analysis and for Von-Mises stresses and strains based on static analysis using ANSYS. Von-Mises stresses corresponding to hydrostatic pressures were computed analytically by Reduced Stiffness Matrix method. The numerical results of critical buckling pressure for 10 mm thick vessels showed 7.12 % deviation from the experimental results. The microstrains predicted by FEA were in good agreement with the experimental strains. Von-Mises stresses predicted by FEA agreed well with the analytical computations.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.3329/jname.v11i1.16087
