Career strategies of employees are its integral part. The aim of this paper is to determine the changes in professional priorities of employees in small and medium-sized wood-processing enterprises in the area of motivation relating to career aspiration throughout the course of life. The research outcomes show significant correlation between age, gender, and motivation factors relating to career aspiration. Slovak women working in SMEs prefer motivation factors relating to finances, mutual relationships, work, and career aspiration. Motivation factors selected by men are almost the same. In terms of age, motivation factors relating to career aspiration are preferred mainly by women aged 30 to 40 years old. Mentioned factors become less important for respondents of older age groups. Following the questionnaires, the level of motivation in agricultural and forestry organizations before the COVID-19 pandemic in the years 2018–2019 and after the crisis in the years 2020–2021 was defined. The hypotheses were tested using the variance analysis with interactions. The analysed field (financial, social, work, and career-related) was presented by the dependent variable. The categorical independent variables were used to describe the age, gender, and the time before or after the COVID-19 pandemic. A reduction in the level of the requirements in all areas of motivation in terms of age and gender is the result of the study. Teaching is a specific type of profession with a specific mission. In this study, the motivation ... more Teaching is a specific type of profession with a specific mission. In this study, the motivation level of primary school teachers in Slovakia in the period from 2015 to 2020 was analyzed. A total of 1189 Slovak teachers with a stratified selection were addressed. Cronbach’s Alpha, Tukey’s HSD (honest significant difference), and ANOVA were used to analyze the data obtained. The research results confirm that Slovak teachers are motivated most by relationship and financial factors. Other important motivation factors are atmosphere in the workplace, a good work team, a supervisor’s approach, a fair appraisal system, and a basic salary. The research also confirms that, over the duration of the study, there was a significant change in the average level of motivation factors; however, there was no change in their relative proportion and structure. Using the Ward method, the Euclidean distance, we defined four groups of similarly motivationally oriented employees. The result of the analysis is a proposal for the creation of a group-individual motivational program, the content of which are common motivational factors for individual groups, which is specified by priority motivational factors for individual groups of employees. There are fundamental differences between different groups of employees.

The presumption if the level of education has influence on the career motivation factors is verified on the sample of 3,720 respondents. Corporate culture as a unique set of opinions, value systems and standards of behaviour is specif... more Corporate culture as a unique set of opinions, value systems and standards of behaviour is specific for each organisation. It can be observed in behaviour, mutual interaction, self-actualisation. It is necessary to familiarize with its principles and individual levels in order to understand this multilateral phenomenon. We want to mention the differences in corporate culture in medium-sized enterprises (up to 250 employees) and large businesses (more than 250 employees) in Slovakia in the year 2016 using the methodology OCAI. Following the results we define the level of corporate culture as a part of human resource management. Pursuant to the analysis of the sampling unit consisting of 108 medium-sized enterprises we found out that the dominant corporate culture in enterprises nowadays is the clan culture. On the other hand, hierarchical corporate culture is the most common corporate culture in large businesses (41 businesses with the number of employees over 250).

Therefore, searching job through social networks is highlighted as it is perspective way how to find a job. At the global level, social networks are used by more than 90% of companies in process of recruitment. Nowadays, social networks are beginning to be applied by Czech and Slovak companies as well. The objective of the research is to identify the differences in the using of social networks in job search in Czech and Slovak Republic. Findings indicate that, only 2% of Czech respondents preferred social networks as a significant way of finding a job. Following the results, social networks were identified less credible by Slovak respondents, but on the other hand more then 4% of Slovak respondents preferred social networks as a toll for job search. Among the most valuable features of SMEs is their flexibility, decision-making accessibility, implementation, innovation and high adaptability to the market environment. SMEs provide for acceleration and economic growth of the country and its regions. Investment in human capital in SMEs, (meaning investment into intangible assets of the company), it is one of the ways to support this sector. In the same manner as SMEs are considered to be a driving force of the economy, human resources can be seen as its driving force, the source of success, competitiveness and added value of businesses. Human capital is one of the most valuable components of any business and that is why investment in human resources becomes a necessary step ensuring that a business prospers in a changing market environment. Current trends also point to the growing importance of investment in human capital. The future will certainly belong to those companies which pay most attention to effective management of human resources, which, in terms of time factor is an important prerequisite for growth and competitiveness of a company.

Following the research carried out using 34,000 Slovak employees, the importance of motivation factors relating to finance was defined. Tukey’s HSD test, as a part of the ANOVA analysis, was used for extensive investigation into the most important motivation factors relating to finance. By means of the research conducted in Slovakia during the period from 2008 to 2019 on a sample of more than 30,000 respondents, we define the dependence of selected macroeconomic indicators and employee motivation. Employee motivation can lead to high employee performance, effectiveness, quality, subsequent organisation success, and development. The research aimed at defining the differences in perceiving the level of motivation in terms of selected socio-demographic features was conducted in the Slovak enterprises over the course of the years 2015-2018. The proposal presented is based on the results of actual research of the anthropometric measurements of the Slovak adult population, which indicate the trend of changes and the following modified dimensional requirements for the production. Our review of available scientific proposals for innovative calculation methodology proved the need for potential of concept of the variable costing at the base of cost classification to variable and fixed items according to capacity using. The practical imperfections of the information provided in the absorption costing system and its general rigidities was the reason of the application selected methodology. The authors proposed an alternative for calculation methodology by the determination of overheads rates and delimitation individual level of contribution margin.

Projects would not meet the needs of customers regardless their proportions. Therefore, anthropometric measurements are a key factor in manufacturing any products. Sampling unit consisted of Slovak adult population. Empirical measurements of selected attributes of actual population were conducted in the years 1993-2015. Sampling unit consisted of 3358 students. Gained data were processed and described using descriptive statistics. Results are based on calculations of arithmetic and weighted mean. Standard deviation, asymmetry coefficient, percentiles, standard error, symmetry, and pointing were used for further processing. Following the outcomes associated with the body dimensions of Slovak population, we can propose the dimensions of bedroom furniture corresponding to the dimensions of actual adult population. Bed dimensions must be 102 × 222 cm (95th percentile) to satisfy the needs of people, their comfort, and health. Therefore, testing must be focused on strength and structural properties of bed as well. Increase in dimensions can result in the increase in product price. Staff of the finance department must deal with this issue to prevent economic damage of the company.

Small and medium-sized enterprises constitute a significant part of Slovakia's economy with the g... more Small and medium-sized enterprises constitute a significant part of Slovakia's economy with the greatest potential for growth and the impact on economic stabilization and balanced development of the regions. The employee motivation has a major impact on the performance of employees working in these businesses. Research focused on the exploration of employee motivational preferences was conducted in all regions of Slovakia in 2017 and 2018. The sociological survey method was used through anonymous questionnaires. Overall, 2,646 respondents participated in the research. Based on the research results, it can be stated, that motivational preferences of employees working in small enterprises in Slovakia are changing over time. These are primarily motivational factors relating to the social needs and financial motivational factors.

Corporate culture research was conducted through questionnaires based on the Cameron and Quinn methodology. The questionnaires were distributed in 2017 to employees working in companies operating in Slovakia. The sampling unit consisted of 3,750 respondents. The aim of the research was to identify gender-based differences in the assessment of corporate culture in enterprises in Slovakia. Based on the results, we can state that there exist no differences in assessment of corporate culture based on gender.

The proposal presented is based on the results of actual research of the anthropometric measurements of the Slovak adult population, which indicate the trend of changes and the following modified dimensional requirements for the production. Our review of available scientific proposals for innovative calculation methodology proved the need for potential of concept of the variable costing at the base of cost classification to variable and fixed items according to capacity using. The practical imperfections of the information provided in the absorption costing system and its general rigidities was the reason of the application selected methodology. The authors proposed an alternative for calculation methodology by the determination of overheads rates and delimitation individual level of contribution margin.

Projects would not meet the needs of customers regardless their proportions. Therefore, anthropometric measurements are a key factor in manufacturing any products. Sampling unit consisted of Slovak adult population. Empirical measurements of selected attributes of actual population were conducted in the years 1993-2015. Sampling unit consisted of 3358 students. Gained data were processed and described using descriptive statistics. Results are based on calculations of arithmetic and weighted mean. Standard deviation, asymmetry coefficient, percentiles, standard error, symmetry, and pointing were used for further processing. Following the outcomes associated with the body dimensions of Slovak population, we can propose the dimensions of bedroom furniture corresponding to the dimensions of actual adult population. Bed dimensions must be 102 × 222 cm (95th percentile) to satisfy the needs of people, their comfort, and health. Therefore, testing must be focused on strength and structural properties of bed as well. Increase in dimensions can result in the increase in product price. Staff of the finance department must deal with this issue to prevent economic damage of the company.

Small and medium-sized enterprises constitute a significant part of Slovakia's economy with the g... more Small and medium-sized enterprises constitute a significant part of Slovakia's economy with the greatest potential for growth and the impact on economic stabilization and balanced development of the regions. The employee motivation has a major impact on the performance of employees working in these businesses. Research focused on the exploration of employee motivational preferences was conducted in all regions of Slovakia in 2017 and 2018. The sociological survey method was used through anonymous questionnaires. Overall, 2,646 respondents participated in the research. Based on the research results, it can be stated, that motivational preferences of employees working in small enterprises in Slovakia are changing over time. These are primarily motivational factors relating to the social needs and financial motivational factors.

Managers start to consider the corporate culture as an important factor in successful business especially in the area of human resource management. Corporate culture research was conducted through questionnaires based on the Cameron and Quinn methodology. The questionnaires were distributed in 2017 to employees working in companies operating in Slovakia. The sampling unit consisted of 3,750 respondents. The aim of the research was to identify gender-based differences in the assessment of corporate culture in enterprises in Slovakia. Based on the results, we can state that there exist no differences in assessment of corporate culture based on gender.
