The center of the present study is to assess the contribution of open squander dumping in riparian soil contamination and its impact on plant assorted qualities in riparian corridor of river Varuna. Surface soil sample (n = 6 + 2) was gathered from both the open squander dumping and control site. The assorted qualities of vegetation were learned at both sites. Significant changes were seen in the soil attributes of the dumping sites. Soils at the dumping indicated high pH, TDS and EC regime in contrast with control site. The assorted qualities of vegetation were also learned at both sites. A comparable pattern was seen in plant assorted qualities. Control site indicated differentiated assortment of plants, i.e., 12 plant species while this number decreased at the dumping sites. The principal component analysis created three signif...

The study “Antibacterial Activity of Spices against Vibrio species isolated from Pond water” aims to identify role of certain spices which have significant activity against Vibrio species. Members of the genus Vibrio are defined as Gram-negative, asporogenous rods that are straight or have a single, rigid curve. They are motile; most have a single polar flagellum, when developed in liquid medium. Most produce oxidase and catalase, and ferment glucose without producing gas. Three species V. cholerae, V. parahaemolyticus, and V. vulnificus, are welldocumented human pathogens. Vibrio species account for a significant proportion of human infections from the consumption of raw or undercooked shellfish. The spices Black pepper (Piper nigrum) Cumin seed (Cuminum cyminum) Coriander (Coriandrum sativum) Cinnamon (Cinnamomum verum) and Green cardamom (Elettaria cardam...

Recently, it has been subjected to immense degradation and pollution as a result of receiving huge amounts of domestic and industrial wastewater as well as religious ritual activities and surface runoff. The present study attempts to study spatial and temporal changes in water quality of River Ganga while calculating its Water Quality Index (WQI) by analyzing 9 physico-chemical, 7 trace metal, and 4 microbiological parameters at eleven sampling stations, on the basis of River Ganga index of Ved Prakash. Thus it can assess water's suitability for drinking and irrigation purposes along with other human uses. The study is directed towards the use of WQI to describe pollution level in the river for a period of 1 year (from January to December 2014). It has been shown that index values as per CPCB class range between medium to good, while the ones as per NSF Index range from bad to good water quality. The study also identifies critical pollutants, affecting the river water quality within its course through the city. Finally, pH, DO, BOD, DO, EC, and FC have been found to be critical parameters for the stretch in each season of this research.

The principal component analysis created three significant components explaining 95.764 of the variance in the data attributable to open dumping effect. Hierarchical cluster analysis grouped six-dumping sites into three clusters having similar characteristics and source of contamination, i.e., moderate and highly polluted dumping sites.
