In this paper, the three most popular cross-domain knowledge graphs (KGs), namely, DBpedia, YAGO, and Wikidata were empirically explored and compared. These knowledge graphs were compared from the perspectives of completeness of the relations, timeliness of the data and accessibility of the KG. Three fundamental categories of named entities were queried within the KGs for detailed analysis of the data returned. From the experimental results and findings, Wikidata scores the highest in term of the timeliness of the data provided owing to the effort of global community update, with DBpedia LIVE being the next. Regarding accessibility, it was observed that DBpedia and Wikidata gave continuous access using public SPARQL endpoint, while YAGO endpoints were intermittently inaccessible. With respect to completeness of predicates, none of the KGs have a remarkable lead for any of the selected...

Based on the findings, this study expands the key performance indicators (KPIs) of remote work and future policy decision including reorienting training practices that can be implemented to manage the workforce in a hybrid model. Design/methodology/approach Focus group interviews with the corporate executives and human resources (HR) managers of information technology (IT) sectors were conducted to pool critical success and challenging variables in various phases as in the initial and matured phase of work from home (WFH) followed by administering a structured questionnaire to identify employee perceptions toward work from office, home and hybrid mode among knowledge work employees. Application-based transportation including ridesharing apps, food and commodity delivery platform apps, and other consumer-facing services brought in the concepts of flexible work reshaping gig work into the mainstream creating millions of jobs in the areas of operation. Even though the gig economy provides flexibility in work, the real situation of the gig workforce seems very complex. The article discusses the impacts of the gig economy on labor markets by identifying the challenges faced by gig workers in the online labor market and the impact of gig economy on their health and well-being. A detailed field research conducted among the gig workers in the state of Kerala aided examining the labor market trends, motives, and effect beyond the gig economy. It further supple...

These modifications/changes are dealt with through configuration management (CM), which is a techno-managerial function. Conflicting interests of teams involved, complexity due to a long product life cycle spanning over years, R&D nature and techno-political compromises often end up in sub-optimal decisions during aerospace product development. In this article, an attempt is made to apply a scientific method to CM decision-making rather than leave it to techno-political compromises. The CM decision-making is modelled as a multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) problem and is solved using analytic hierarchy process (AHP). As an example, the CM change proposal on propellant tank material in aerospace is taken up and solved using the model. The authors believe that results of the study will also pave way for substitute develo...
A Novel Uni-directional Flow Circular Facility Layout for Effective Social Distancing

A well-designed facility layout planning is essential for the smooth functioning as well as to provide safe and convenient services to patients at the right time. A functional layout is suggested to optimize time and resources in the process of service delivery, reducing the challenges of patients and healthcare professionals involved in patient care. This article focuses on developing a new facility functional layout that promotes convenience, comfort and economy with enhanced quality of medical care. A pathway of patient movement is effectively designed for better health outcomes, especially when there is a huge inflow of patients seeking information about the choice of healthcare facilities and subsequent medical attention. A circular hospital facility layout with unidirectional flow is proposed, which will effectively prevent face-to-face movement of incoming and outgoing patients ...

Lean manufacturing philosophies help managers to identify and eliminate waste at every stage of operations in a systematic approach. The changes in culture have contributed to every lean failure. While prevailing research implies that successful lean implementations lead to a profitable organisation it focuses on the low numbers of successful lean conversions. The opulence of lean manufacturing will not be entirely based on application of appropriate tools and techniques alone but also on the participation of top management and their leadership, workers attitude, resources and the organizational culture.

The idea of shared e mobility will give solution to the rising fuel price, reduce the air pollution and reduce traffic congestion in the cities. India with the development in the information technology field has also developed and implemented sharing cabs like Uber and Ola platforms. Now this has expanded into another stage of sharing self-driven scooters and bikes in the major cities like Bangalore, Mumbai, and Hyderabad which helps to save the fossil fuel and helps in reduction of pollution. The paper focuses on investigating the perception and feasibility of a shared e-mobility and analyzes the operational strategies for its effectiveness in the city of Thiruvananthapuram.

In fact, it refers to the interaction between objects and human. There are a wide range of applications of IoT which is varying from smart wearable, smart homes to smart city, etc. It improves the quality of lifestyle for consumers. Industries like the Health, Education, Petroleum Industry, etc have started to use IoT applications to enhance the quality of the product, sales and customer satisfaction, etc. This paper focuses on the relevance of IoT automation in petrol bunks. For that, a thorough analysis was done by reviewing various articles, journals, blogs and projects. The improvement in the operational efficiency prior to and post deployment of IoT in petrol pumps is evaluated by conducting a survey. The statistical analysis of data is done through a paired t-test. COVID-19 is proving to be unique; a rolling combination of a health pandemic and a financial condition wrapping the tentacles on the globe in record time impacting a side shock to all of the key economies. The damage caused by the virus and also the policy responses it requires are deep and multifaceted. The economic side is terribly shattered with a setback in the core revenue sectors which will push the state into financial doldrums. The intensity of the impact will be beyond the expectation and almost every business/sector will face hard times in the coming days. The pandemic may be controlled but the impact it created on the economy takes many years to be revived. The paper focuses on the impact of the pandemic on one of the vital sectors-the higher education which has become a standstill due to the sudden disruption in the academic schedule and present information on the prospect in progressing education by creating an effective pedagogy of online education systems.

The whole of humanity is sharing a problem that is changing the world, and humans are living under more uncertainty. Most people have been feeling intense anxiety related to COVID-19 and the aftermath the world will leave in its wake. The paper intends to put up a deeper understanding of the anxiety reaction about various aspects of current life. Clear strategies for managing and turning off the anxiety response for short periods is developed based on the understanding of how one's brain reacts to crises along with some powerful tools for managing the pandemic. The paper explores some of the strategies to address mental health during COVID-19.

It rapidly reached almost every nook and corner of the world and the World Health Organization (WHO) has announced COVID-19 as a pandemic. The health care institutions around the globe are looking for viable and real-time technological solutions to handle the virus for evading its spread and circumvent probable demises. Importantly, the artificial intelligence tools and techniques are playing a major role in fighting the effect of virus on the economic jolt by mimicking human intelligence by screening, analyzing, predicting and tracking the existing and likely future patients. Since the first reported case, all the government organizations in the world jumped into action to prevent it and many studies reported the role of AI in taking decisions analyzing big data available in public sphere. Thereby, this review focuses on identifying the significant implication of AI techniques used for the COVID-19 disease management in the public sphere by agglomerating the latest available information. It also discusses the pitfalls and future directions in handling sensitive big data required for advanced neural networks.
