Resource Tapping is a novice method that draws on elements from the Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) model and can be taught as a self-help technique. A range of self-reported measures were utilised to cover the domains of difficult behaviour, depression and personal difficulties symptoms. Twenty adolescent males, aged 12-17, were randomly assigned to either a Tapping (n=10) or a LI-CBT (n=10) group, situated in secondary school settings. The students were allocated through consecutive referrals to psychological services and parental consent was obtained. All students received up to four individual sessions over a four-month period. Mixed between-within subjects ANOVA and repeated measures ANOVA tests were utilised to test the hypotheses. Both approaches produced reduction in two out of three measures on pre- and post- assessment scores (Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire pre/post mean = 20.38, df = 6.479, p = .020, Child Trauma Screening Questionnaire pre/post mean = 2.227, df = 2.190, p = .000). Treatment gains from Tapping were reached in fewer sessions. There were no significant differences between the types of intervention: both groups made improvements and no model specific therapeutic benefits were identified.

A betweensubjects cross-sectional correlational design was utilised. Attachment orientations were measured with the Experiences in Close Relationships-Revised (ECR-R) Scale; mental wellbeing was measured with the WEMWBS (Warwick-Edinburgh Mental Well-Being Scale); and relationship satisfaction was measured with the Relationship Assessment Scale (RAS). 118 students (50.5% female and 49.5% male), recruited through opportunity sampling, participated. Attachment anxiety and attachment avoidance were negatively correlated with relationship satisfaction, while increased well-being was positively correlated with it. The theoretical and practical implications of the results contribute towards the effort for global improvement in affective human relationship functioning.
