A total of 731 voluntary people (49.8% men, 50.2% women) were part of this study and agreed to do so confidentially. Based on results from an exploratory study, the scale was initially developed considering 178 items in order to assess maintenance of couple relationships with a 5-point Likert response style. The scale was divided into four subscales: Meaning (46 items, 6 factors), Motives (30 items, 4 factors), Strategies (46 items, 6 factors), and Consequences (56 items, 4 factors). Each subscale required its own psychometric analysis. Exploratory factor analysis and internal consistency analysis show a valid and reliable scale in all four subscales. These findings allow for a robust scale that allows the evaluation of maintenance
throughout several of its components. The development of instruments like the one presented becomes fundamental in the evaluation of dyadic relationships that in turn develop healthy couple relationships, as well as evidence-based interventions.

It is argued that the styles of power and the appreciation of the relationship and valuing itself are variables related to the retention of women in the relationship. Participants included 450 women, divided into three levels of violence: low, moderate and high. The results showed that while women are more focused toward the couple, not making decisions or have control over the couple employs styles can be negative as violent, be sharp, and therefore is likely to stay in relationship violence.

A sample of 908 voluntaries (454 men, 454 women), all residents of Mexico City, was used for this study. Results show the impact of positive instrumentality and positive expressivity (androgyny) is important for men and women to determine their positive attitude towards a successful woman

Given the impact of these changes in interpersonal relationships, the objective of the present research was to construct a scale which measures the attitude to a successful woman in men and women. A sample was applied to 618 volunteer participants, 304 men and 314 women. After obtaining the internal consistent and the discrimination of reagents, a factorial analysis of the principal components with orthogonal rotation was made. The results grouped 71 reagents in four factors: leader, affective-altruistic, self-sufficient and competent

But there is no scale to measure happiness in the couple, therefore, the objective was to develop and validate a scale of happiness in the couple, culturally appropriated and reliable. The research was conducted in two phases. In the first phase, a scale for happiness in the couple was developed and reliability and validity were obtained, in the second phase, we performed a second-order factor analysis. The results showed a valid and reliable scale that measures the evaluation of happiness in the couple as well as the elements needed for a couple to be happy

Research paper thumbnail of Are men universally more dismissing than women? Gender differences in romantic attachment across 62 cultural regions

Contrary to research findings previously reported in Western cultures, we found that men were not significantly more dismissing than women across all cultural regions. Gender differences in dismissing romantic attachment were evident in most cultures, but were typically only small to moderate in magnitude. Looking across cultures, the degree of gender differentiation in dismissing romantic attachment was predictably associated with sociocultural indicators. Generally, these associations supported evolutionary theories of romantic attachment, with smaller gender differences evident in cultures with high-stress and high-fertility reproductive environments. Social role theories of human sexuality received less support in that more progressive sex-role ideologies and national gender equity indexes were not cross-culturally linked as expected to smaller gender differences in dismissing romantic attachment.

Mate poachingromantically attracting someone who is already in a relationship-was most common in Southern Europe, South America, Western Europe, and Eastern Europe and was relatively infrequent in Africa, South/Southeast Asia, and East Asia. Evolutionary and social-role hypotheses received empirical support. Men were more likely than women to report having made and succumbed to short-term poaching across all regions, but differences between men and women were often smaller in more gender-egalitarian regions. People who try to steal another's mate possess similar personality traits across all regions, as do those who frequently receive and succumb to the poaching attempts by others. The authors conclude that human mate-poaching experiences are universally linked to sex, culture, and the robust influence of personal dispositions.
