According to the Office of Violence Against Women (2007), this act occurs to anyone regardless of race, age, sex, or religion. The term is also known as domestic abuse, spousal abuse, battering, family violence, and intimate partner violence. Domestic violence is a pattern of abusive behaviour displayed by one in an intimate relationship like dating, marriage, or family. This abusive behaviour takes various forms, such as physical assault, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, domineering intimidation, and resource deprivation (Seimeniuk et al., 2010). In Nigeria, women experience more domestic violence than men; this view is supported by Amnesty International (2007), which reported that two-thirds of women are subjected to sexual, physical and psychological violence performed by their husbands, partners and family members (Oluremi, 2015). This act is promoted by jealousy, social stress, and social learning, as it creates fear, insecurity and discomfort among family members. With these ills, domestic violence must be considered and dealt with as an amoral practice, which the church needs to respond to through pastoral care towards victims and perpetrators.

Oriel Printer, 2023

This paper addressed pastoral care as a catalyst for alleviating crises during pandemics among me... more This paper addressed pastoral care as a catalyst for alleviating crises during pandemics among members of the Grace community, who are bona fide members of the body of Christ in the Christendom. The work established sufferings as inevitable during a pandemic. Moreover, a pandemic is controllable through psychological strategies of isolation, social restriction and distancing. Those procedures may bring physiological and psychological burdens of anxiety, loneliness, fear, hopelessness and depression to the populace; regardless of religion, culture, race or ethnicity, a pandemic outbreak poses health, economic, social and spiritual effects to members of the Grace community.
The crises experienced during pandemics make most victims dysfunctional; hence, a pastoral care approach or response is in need to alleviate the problem and enhance proper physiological and psychological growth and wellbeing. That is because enhancing wholeness and development, the primary goal of pastoral care is achievable through ministerial care functions of sustaining, educating, and guiding.

This increasing rate of poverty among Nigerians cut across all age groups, including youth. It is believed that poverty is leading most Nigerian youth into irrational thinking towards making wealth as they engage in amoral activities like internet fraud (yahoo plus), money rituals, and many more. The factors believed to be leading to increased poverty in Nigeria are misappropriation of national resources, corruption, unemployment, and high rate of population growth. The highlighted psychosocial effects of poverty are irrational thinking, inability to participate in social activities, and inferior feelings. This study adopted a descriptive survey research design of ex post facto type. The study population comprised 100 married men and women within Akwanga local government area of Nasarawa state, who were picked through random sampling techniques. The instrument used for data collection is a researcher-designed questionnaire titled "Marital Instability among Nigerians Questionnaire" (MINQ) with a correlation coefficient of 0.79. The mean score was used for analysing the data collected. Factors causing marital instability, as revealed by the study, are fragility of marital bonds, childlessness, unplanned marital life, unsatisfactory sexual relationship, and absence of effective communication. The revealed effects of marital instability are separation and divorce, spouse beating, hostility and aggressive behaviours, anxiety disorder/depression, and it affects family functioning. The American Marketing Association (AMA) officially defines marketing (approved July 2019; www.ama.org) as set of institutions, the activity and processes for creating, delivering, communicating, and exchanging offerings that have value for clients, customers, partners, and society at large. Marketing is an organisational function and processes for creating, delivering and communicating their value to customers and managing customer relationships to benefit the organisation and its stakeholders (Hughes & Dann, 2009). According to Wring (2002) the first usage of the term political marketing is regularly attributed to Kelley (1956), who viewed political marketing as virtually synonymous with propaganda because its essential goal was persuasion (185). However, from the definition of traditional marketing, political marketing can be described as a set of activities, processes, or political institutions used by political organisations, candidates, and individuals to create, communicate, deliver, and exchange promises of value with voter consumers, political party stakeholders, and society at large (Hughes & Dann, 2009, 359). However, political marketing is a hybrid sub-discipline that draws on the parent disciplines of traditional marketing and political science. Butler and Collins (1994) stated that political marketing is marketing ideas and opinions related to public or political issues or specific candidates (19). Political marketing is designed to influence people's votes in elections. Lock and Harris (1996) said political marketing is concerned with communicating with party
