Due to the declining party loyalty of voters, once stable constituencies have become increasingly volatile and the importance of campaigning has increased. Parties are now thought to be more likely than in the past to opt for negative campaigning. This paper examines the postings that parties or top candidates made on the social media sites Facebook and Twitter during the 2019 National Council election campaign. The results suggest that-at least on social media sites-the cost-benefit analysis of the parties might turn towards negative campaigning, as the average popularity of negative campaigning posts was higher than those that were not tagged with negative campaigning.

Taking Vienna and Barcelona as examples, this paper tries to find out, how modern cities deal with these current challenges. The basis for this quantitative content analysis are the so-called "Urban Development Plans" (UDP), which record not only the current situation but also future developments. The UDP can thus be used as a basis for advising politicians by urban planners and serves the political leadership as an instrument or as a decision-making or orientation aid. It can ultimately be concluded that modern cities have a crucial role in sustainable development and thus play a central position in the application of advanced technologies to support sustainable urbanisation. In short, urban growth raises a variety of issues that threaten the sustainability of cities, as it places a huge burden on urban systems and ecosystem services. Clearly, major advances in urban design are needed to address these problems and specific issues. In this regard, modern cities are required to develop or implement more innovative solutions and sophisticated approaches, as this is necessary not only to monitor cities, but rather to understand, analyse and plan them. Ultimately, this work tries to find out whether there are differences in the smart city strategies of Vienna and Barcelona, or whether both citiesalthough spatially separated-have the same points on their agenda.

For political parties, elections are the time to get in touch with their voters. With the proliferation of social media sites like Facebook and Twitter, Web 2.0 has become a reality and is increasingly used by parties. Using the example of the 2019 National Council election in Austria, this paper examines how parties use social media and which issues they specifically address in the election campaign on Facebook and Twitter. The following hypotheses are examined in this work: (1) Economic parties tend to focus on popular topics such as environmental protection, society or politicians in general news coverage on the social media sites Facebook and Twitter-compared to nationalist parties.(2) Environmental parties also focus on issues such as environmental protection on the social media sites Facebook and Twitter.(3) Negative campaigning plays a bigger role on Twitter than on Facebook.(4) The top candidates Sebastian Kurz and Pamela Rendi-Wagner also focus on the core topics of the parties (ÖVP = economy, SPÖ = welfare state) on the social media sites Facebook and Twitter.

It is precisely the new media that enable parties to bypass the gatekeeper function of the classical mass media and set the agenda themselves. This paper examines - using the example of the Austrian National Council election campaign 2019 - how "dramatizing" parties design postings and whether there is a difference in topic setting between left-wing and right-wing parties.

Especially in difficult times, politicians tend to give simple answers to difficult questions-in short, populism seems to be the "measure of all things" especially in election campaigns. Using the example of the 2019 National Council elections in Austria, this paper examines how populist the election campaign is conducted on the social media sites Facebook and Twitter.

with the Austrian government's actions during the Covid 19 pandemic. We surveyed
entrepreneurs using a 5-point scale and found that while entrepreneurs were very satisfied
with the measures, they were not satisfied with the government's communication. Our
results showed that deficit spending reaches entrepreneurs in times of crisis, but that government communication should have the same priority as government aid.

This paper will use national communications in Nigeria, Niger and Ghana to examine the measures that have been taken to address desertification, drought and migration.

To achieve that, the respective COVID-19 measures taken by governments in March and April 2020 in the V4 countries will be analysed using the VUCA model. VUCA is an acronym, and it includes four English terms: volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity. Using the VUCA model, a Framework of VUCA Factors has been created in this article, which can be used as a basic model to further identify innovative leadership strategies during pandemic situations.

Thousands of people, mostly from Syria and Afghanistan, have set out with the hope of asylum and a better life. The "refugee question" has become the all-important matter that has since determined the political debate and the media agenda. The fact that media coverage influences public opinion and political decision-making has often been emphasized in the past. This master thesis examines the communication of Vice Chancellor Heinz-Christian Strache on Twitter (@hcstrachefp) and tries to find out whether the political communication (in relation to migration and populism) has changed. In order to be able to evaluate the communication on Twitter, the qualitative content analysis according to Mayring has been extended by elements of critical discourse analysis. The evaluation of the data showed that the communication of Strache ...
