The theme of the spatial distribution of the pharmacies on the territory is closely connected to ... more The theme of the spatial distribution of the pharmacies on the territory is closely connected to urban planning and to services supply. In Italy, the regulatory change that took place in 2012, triggered partly by the need to adhere more to a constantly changing economic system, has led to a revision of the existing situation, consisting both on the method to quantify the pharmacies distribution and on the efficiency of the service. If Law 27/2012 has effectively allowed municipalities to increase the number of pharmacies that they can settle on the municipal territory, it has also started a process of rethinking the logic of pharmacies location and of their catchment areas. In this framework, the present paper aims to discuss the merits of a regulatory evolutions that sparked the process of liberalization of locations, integrating the law guidelines and goals with an operating logic process, usable and useful to translate goals into planning actions in a continuous dialogue between law and territory, constraints and opportunities, equity and accessibility of the care services. Following this logic operations, we have investigated the urban context of Castelfranco Emilia, assuming the location of new offices on the basis of pharmaceutical analyzes.

The paper presents an integrated approach to landscape analysis and planning by describing the ap... more The paper presents an integrated approach to landscape analysis and planning by describing the application of a new assessment method of landscape degradation in the case of Emilia-Romagna Region, in Italy.
Landscape degradation is intended as a change in the landscape charac- ter and quality, namely in the configuration of separate, identifiable and consistent set of elements that make each landscape different from another in perceptual and functional terms.
The identification of the major degradation phenomena of the regional landscape and their mapping is assumed as a necessary knowledge base for the definition of restoration and rehabilitation of significantly damaged or degraded areas.
The joint analysis of land use covers at different dates has provided a first indication of those landscapes that may potentially be more exposed to different types of degradation and it permitted to identify the main causes that have produced the degradation phenomena and a few major reasons, underlying landscape changes. Although the different phenomena have been investigated separately, the results show that they are not mutually in- dependent and they provide an important clues to design future approaches and guidelines for the rehabilitation or regeneration of degraded land- scapes, in compliance with the European Landscape Convention and the New Italian Code of Cultural and Landscape Heritage.

Even if the “compact city” can generally be regarded as a preferred urban form over the “dispersed city”, the strategy of densification is not applicable to any context, leaving aside the local conditions.
