Most of the intoxications are accidental whereas suicidal attempt is rather rare after ingestion. This case report is about three persons who landed in our emergency department after consuming Aconite accidentally as an herbal medicine. Two of them were managed immediately while one was declared dead on arrival.

Filicide-suicide is a variant of homicide-suicide which includes the killing of children by a parent. We bring here a rare case of a father with his two children found hanging in a shed with a use of single ligature material, nylon rope. The children were of age three and five years. It happened when wife of the man had run away with another man leaving them behind for 15 days.

The composition and vulnerability of the atherosclerotic plaque determines the development of acute coronary syndromes.1 Inflammation has a key role in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis and it is supported by numerous factors such as modified LDL, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, free radicals and, in particular, by infectious agents such as Chlamydia pneumoniae.2 Atherosclerosis is characterized by intimal lesions called atheromas, agents such as Chlamydia agents lesions called atheromas, atheromatous or fibro fatty plaques, which protrude into and obstruct vascular lumens and weaken the underlying media.3

Therefore, all physicians who treat such patients have a legal duty to accurately document injuries as part of medical treatment. The study aimed to find out the prevalence of mechanical injury among medicolegal cases in the Department of Emergency in a tertiary care centre. Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted among patients admitted to the Emergency Department of a tertiary centre from May 2018 to April 2020 after obtaining ethical approval from the Institutional Review Committee (Reference number: 356). Convenience sampling method was used among patients who met the eligibility criteria. All relevant data were extracted using hospital records. Point estimate and 95% Confidence Interval were calculated. Results: Out of 3486 medicolegal cases registered in the Department of Emergency, 856 (24.55%) (28.37-29.96, 95% Confidence interval) were cases of mechanical injuries. Males 616 (71.96%) outnumbered females for all types of mechanical injuries. Road Traffic Accident 527 (61.56%) was the leading cause of injury and laceration 351 (29.52%) was the most common pattern of injury. The majority 628 (73.36%) of the injuries were simple in nature. Conclusions: The prevalence of mechanical injuries among medicolegal cases was similar in comparison to other studies done in similar settings. The majority of the injuries were caused by traffic accidents, which could have been prevented if a safe system approach to road safety was followed.

This study is meant to know the opinion of doctors and nursing professionals regarding euthanasia which is an important component for practising euthanasia in Nepal, which is a debated topic in the whole world and Nepal is no exception. Methods: A descriptive study design was used to conduct this study. ATE scale was used which includes ten questionnaires. Results: The ATE scale used in this study showed to have internal consistency, with Cronbach alpha at 0.736. Men were found to be more supportive of Euthanasia. Conclusion: Overall, this study suggests that health professionals from Pokhara have a positive attitude towards Euthanasia with patients request taken as more important.

Objectives: To determine the age of epiphyseal fusion of the lower end of radius and ulna in the Nepalese population which is important from a medicolegal point of view. Methods: An analytical cross-sectional study was conducted on patients undergoing X-rays of hand and wrist attending Manipal Teaching Hospital, Pokhara in a one-year period from January 1, 2019 to December 31, 2019. Total sample was 90 cases. The X-rays were assessed as appearance and not-appearance of epiphysis and different phases of skeletal maturity were graded according to McKern and Stewart classification. Results: Mean age was relatively higher in males in fusion of radius. Whereas in ulna, no difference was recorded in mean age in the fifth stage. In male the correlation coefficient for stage of fusion for radius and ulna with age (years) was 0.90 and ...
