Less invasive percutaneous techniques, performed by an interventional radiologist using ultrasonography guidance or computed tomography are fine-needle aspiration biopsy and tissue core biopsy. These are associated with lesser complications and high accuracy. Materials and Methods: The study was prospective in nature done in SKIMS, Soura, from August 2016 to August 2018. Aims and Objectives: (1) The aim is to determine the diagnostic accuracy of percutaneous image-guided tru-cut biopsy of the spleen. (2) To determine the complication rate of percutaneous image-guided tru-cut biopsy of the spleen using coaxial biopsy needle system. Results: A total of 18 patients underwent percutaneous tru-cut biopsy of the spleen. All patients underwent a single time biopsy. In this study, 17 (94.4%) patients had splenic lesions, and 1 patient (5.6%) had splenomegaly under evalua...

Coronary artery anomaly is the second most common cause of Sudden Cardiac Death (SCD) in young athletes. Cardiac Computed Tomographic Angiography (CTA) is a readily available non-invasive imaging modality that provides high-resolution anatomical information of the coronary arteries. Multi-detector row CT is superior to conventional angiography in defining the ostial origin and proximal path of anomalous coronary branches. Methods: This was a prospective study included 186 patients who underwent coronary CTA from December 2018 to November 2019 in Government medical College, Srinagar on a 256 slice CT. The indications for coronary CTA were an equivocal, or non-diagnostic stress test, atypical chest pain, suspected anomalous coronary, as well as the evaluation of cardiac cause of syncope. Results: Ramus intermedius was the most common an...

Background: Congenital sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL) is one of the most common birth defects ... more Background: Congenital sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL) is one of the most common birth defects with incidence of approximately 1:1000 live births. Imaging plays an important role in the work up of cochlear implant candidates not only to identify inner ear congenital and acquired abnormalities or cochlear nerve anomalies but also to detect temporal bone abnormalities or variations that may alter surgical approach. Preoperative evaluation of cochleovestibular anatomy is an important component of the cochlear implant evaluation. The objective of the study was high resolution computerized tomography (HRCT) assessment of congenital ear anomalies before cochlear implantation. Methods: This prospective study was conducted in the Department of Radio diagnosis and Imaging, GMC, Srinagar. 24 children in the age group of 1 to 12 years with unidentified causes of bilateral SNHL were subjected to HRCT over a period of 7 months from January to July 2019. Results: Eighteen patients had normal rad...

Our study compares the complications of two approaches in malignant obstruction. The objectives of this study was to assess and compare complications of PTBD.Methods: This study was a prospective hospital based study performed for a period of 2 years from 2016 to 2018.PTBD was performed either via right in 16 patients or left-ductal approach in 15 patients, on the basis of status of primary biliary confluence and atrophy of liver parenchyma. Results: Both minor and major complications were more common in right-sided approach as compared to left-sided approach with most common major and minor complication being cholangitis (16.12%) and fever (12.9%) respectively. Conclusions: PTBD is an excellent palliative procedure to drain the bile ducts in malignant obstruction. Althou...

The sensitivity of CT is 96% in acute abdomen. In order to decrease the mortality and morbidity rate, an efficient and correct diagnosis should be given for these patients. When investigations, like USG examinations are inconclusive, in such cases, multi-detector computer tomography is a widely accepted primary investigation of choice in patients coming with intense abdominal pain. The aim of the study was to evaluate the accuracy of MDCT in diagnosis of acute abdomen; document the sensitivity and specificity of MDCT; the incidence of different pathologies presenting as acute abdomen. Methods: Prospective study on 64 subjects with acute pain abdomen was subjected to MDCT in GMC Srinagar. The duration of this study was from January to May 2019.Results: About 36 patients were females and 28 were males. Youngest patient had an age of 7 years to eldest patient having age o...

Thoracic injury overall is the third most common cause of trauma following injury to the head and extremities. Objective. The objective of this study was to evaluate lung pellet gun injuries in patients of a conflict zone by a so called non-lethal weapon. Methods. The study was conducted in post graduate department of Radiodiagnosis and Imaging, Government Medical College, Srinagar Jammu and Kashmir. Our study was performed between the 6th January 2019 to the 22th May 2019. A total of 40 patients with pellet injuries were taken up for study. Inclusion criteria were patients with pellet gun injuries without any immediate life threatening injury like head injury; patient...
