The novel Mendayung Impian contains the persistence of a character to achieve goals, while the Chiang Mai novel contains the search for the identity of a young man in facing life. The method used in this research is qualitative research. The validity of the data is in the form of theoretical triangulation. The results of this study are that there are three values of character education that stand out, namely hard work, social care, and being friendly.

The correlating factors discussed in this research were students’ reading comprehension skill, vocabulary mastery, and attitude toward language. The study applied quantitative approach with simple and multiple correlation and regression techniques. The samples of the study were 100 students taken using stratified random sampling technique from a population of 2000 junior high school students in Surakarta City. The data were collected using multiple choice test for students’ reading comprehension skills and vocabulary mastery, writing assignments, and questionnaires for their attitudes toward the Indonesian language. This research was a descriptive qualitative study with an ethnographic approach. In obtaining data, researchers used interview, observation, and documentation as techniques. These data were processed and tested using triangulation. Then the data is analyzed using the interactive analysis technique model of Miles and Huberman. The results showed that the traditional ceremony of Ngunjung or Sedekah Bumi, Karangreja Village in Cirebon Regency is a form of local color associated with the Adipati Waringin Legend.

The data of this research are sentences from the Bumi Cinta novel text which contains a transcendence dimension. The identification of the text of the transcendence dimension, giving meaning, as well as careful exploration of the meaning is carried out using the hermeneutic method. The results of the research are as follows: First, there are three elements of transcendence in the Bumi Cinta novel, namely (1) recognition of human dependence on God seen from worship rituals in the form of prayer and remembrance, (2) there is an absolute difference between God and humans, and (3) the acknowledgment of absolute norms from God that do not come from human reason. The effectiveness of teachers in speaking using polite language in learning Indonesian to junior ... more The effectiveness of teachers in speaking using polite language in learning Indonesian to junior high school students by referring to the theory of politeness principles according to Leech (1983), Lakoff (1972), Brown and Lavinson (1978), Fraser (1978). This study uses descriptive qualitative methods to obtain naturalistic data, data collection using competent and free listening techniques and record techniques. The data analysis technique uses the interactive model of Miles and Huberman (2014) which has three components of analysis: data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions or verification. The results of the study found 4 forms of politeness, namely: 1) maxim of wisdom, 2) maxim of generosity, 3) maxim of agreement, 4) maxim of modesty, while forms of violation of politeness principle are 2, namely: 1) maxim of generosity.

Pengumpulan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah content analysis dan expert judegment . Analisis data menggunakan teknik triangulasi sumber data dan triangulasi teori. Hasil pembahasan menunjukkan bahwa terdapat empat bentuk tindak tutur berimplikatur dalam percakapan pada acara Mata Najwa yang berupa representatif, direktif, ekspresif, dan komisif. Ditemukan sebanyak tujuh fungsi dari implikatur dalam percakapan acara Mata Najwa , yaitu memberi penjelasan, menyatakan harapan, memberikan usulan, memberikan saran, mengajak untuk melakukan sesuatu, menunjukkan perasaan, dan berjanji.

The results shows that there are structure error and Indonesian language usage error on the persu... more The results shows that there are structure error and Indonesian language usage error on the persuasion text written by students at grade 8 of Junior High School in Surakarta. Those errors on the incomplete structure of persuasion text especially in the reaffirmation section. The Indonesian language usage errors include spelling error, diction error, and grammatical error. The most common errors of spelling comprises capital letters and punctuation marks usage particularly full stop and comma. The most-found errors of diction comprises improper diction selection and nonstandard diction. Grammatical error is mainly caused by ineffective sentence. Those errors are caused by some factors. The factors are (1) students do not understand the structure of persuasion text, (2) students have lack of spelling and diction knowledge, (3) the lack of examples given by teacher, (4) the lack of writing practice, and (5) student lack motivation within writing.

The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative method. The data source in this research is the novel Merindu Baginda Nabi. Data collection techniques in this study using documentation study techniques. The validity of the data in this study used the theoretical triangulation technique. The data analysis technique in this study used interactive data analysis techniques. The results of the study found that there are three forms of transcendence found in the novel, namely the recognition of human dependence on God, there is an absolute difference between God and humans, the recognition of absolute norms from God that do not come from human reason. The results of this research can be used as references in the field of literature, especially with regard to the prophetic dimensions that exist in a literary work, and become a contribution to knowledge and can be applied in literary studies that are useful for further researchers.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan dan menjelaskan: 1) bentuk-bentuk implikatur perca... more Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan dan menjelaskan: 1) bentuk-bentuk implikatur percakapan pada acara Mata Najwa di Metro TV dan 2) fungsi implikatur percakapan pada acara Mata Najwa di Metro TV . Pengumpulan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah content analysis dan expert judegment . Analisis data menggunakan teknik triangulasi sumber data dan triangulasi teori. Hasil pembahasan menunjukkan bahwa terdapat empat bentuk tindak tutur berimplikatur dalam percakapan pada acara Mata Najwa yang berupa representatif, direktif, ekspresif, dan komisif. Ditemukan sebanyak tujuh fungsi dari implikatur dalam percakapan acara Mata Najwa , yaitu memberi penjelasan, menyatakan harapan, memberikan usulan, memberikan saran, mengajak untuk melakukan sesuatu, menunjukkan perasaan, dan berjanji.

The results shows that there are structure error and Indonesian language usage error on the persu... more The results shows that there are structure error and Indonesian language usage error on the persuasion text written by students at grade 8 of Junior High School in Surakarta. Those errors on the incomplete structure of persuasion text especially in the reaffirmation section. The Indonesian language usage errors include spelling error, diction error, and grammatical error. The most common errors of spelling comprises capital letters and punctuation marks usage particularly full stop and comma. The most-found errors of diction comprises improper diction selection and nonstandard diction. Grammatical error is mainly caused by ineffective sentence. Those errors are caused by some factors. The factors are (1) students do not understand the structure of persuasion text, (2) students have lack of spelling and diction knowledge, (3) the lack of examples given by teacher, (4) the lack of writing practice, and (5) student lack motivation within writing.

The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative method. The data source in this research is the novel Merindu Baginda Nabi. Data collection techniques in this study using documentation study techniques. The validity of the data in this study used the theoretical triangulation technique. The data analysis technique in this study used interactive data analysis techniques. The results of the study found that there are three forms of transcendence found in the novel, namely the recognition of human dependence on God, there is an absolute difference between God and humans, the recognition of absolute norms from God that do not come from human reason. The results of this research can be used as references in the field of literature, especially with regard to the prophetic dimensions that exist in a literary work, and become a contribution to knowledge and can be applied in literary studies that are useful for further researchers.
