Model Transformation (MT) is one of the main components of MDE. MT can be visualized as a program with models as inputs. Model evaluation and processing is automated by a Model Transformation tool. In this paper, we walk through the terminologies involved in MT and elaborate the benefits of MT with practical usage scenarios. The paper highlights the most recent challenges faced in the process to make model transformation more sophisticated. The intent of the paper is to portray a complete picture of model transformation in a way to relate the practical implementations with respect to the theoretical aspects of MT. The paper concludes by putting lights on some of the current trends in the field and the areas in model transformation where significant contribution is the needed.

Research paper thumbnail of Optimization of Apodized Fiber Bragg Grating for Sensing Applications

paper presents the modeling and characterization of an Apodized optical fiber Bragg grating for m... more paper presents the modeling and characterization of an Apodized optical fiber Bragg grating for maximum reflectivity and minimum side lobe power wastage and narrow spectral response. The modeling is based upon coupled mode theory together with transfer matrix method. This matrix approach is effective at treating a single grating as a series of separate gratings each having reduced overall length and different pitch lengths, and describing each with its own T-matrix. FBG sensors are based on the fact that Bragg wavelength changes with change in pitch of the grating and the change in refractive index. Thus, any physical parameter which cause change in above mentioned parameters can be sensed using FBG. In optical sensing, the broad spectral response can result in poor sensitivity. In order to improve and to some extent to tailor the spectral response of FBG length, refractive index change, apodization and FWHM is optimized based upon maximum reflectivity criteria.

The system is designed to detect the pollution at vehicle exhaust. The system informs the user about the concentration of CO and HC. It also displays whether pollution is under control or not. Commercial gas sensors having low power consumption are used in the design. For data acquisition, a micro-controller is used. Data processing is done using supervised learning of Artificial Neural Network (ANN). The results of ANN training are given, which is obtained using MATLAB. The system is calibrated using the actual field readings of PUC machines available. Five Different ANN training methods are also compared based on errors. GUI developed displays concentrations of CO and HC, a conclusive message and bars indicating present gas level.
