Students lacking the spirit to learn science, pretend to understand the teacher's explanations. To overcome this, then do action research in order to improve the results of junior high school students learn science through learning model Think Pair Share for Class VIII.1 second-semester students of SMP Negeri 2 Metro in the academic year 2012/2013. Thematic learning carried out in elementary schools has not trained students' high-level thinking... more Thematic learning carried out in elementary schools has not trained students' high-level thinking skills as a whole due to the use of learning models that tend to be monotonous and make students bored. This study aims to determine the effect of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model on HOTS (Higher Order Thinking Skillls). The research method used is quantitative experiments with the design of nonequivalent group design. The results showed that the teacher's implementation was sufficient in accordance with the syntax of the PBL learning model so that it could influence HOTS students. The difference in HOTS scores between the two classes is indicated by the average post-test scores. The use of PBL models should be implemented for students to be able to train HOTS students. Abstrak: Pembelajaran tematik yang dilaksanakan di SD belum melatihkan kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi siswa secara keseluruhan dikarenakan penggunaan model pembelajaran yang cenderung monoton dan membuat siswa jenuh. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model Problem Based Learning terhadap Higher Order Thinking Skillls. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu kuantitatif eksperimen dengan desain nonequivalent group design. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa keterlaksanaan guru sudah cukup sesuai dengan sintaks model pembelajaran PBL sehingga dapat berpengaruh terhadap HOTS siswa. Perbedaan skor HOTS antara dua kelas ditunjukkan oleh rata-rata nilai post-test. Penggunaan model PBL hendaknya dapat diimplementasikan kepada siswa agar dapat melatih HOTS siswa.

This study aimed to find out the effect of guided inquiry learning model with mind mapping on sci... more This study aimed to find out the effect of guided inquiry learning model with mind mapping on science process skill and achievement of students with different prior knowledge. This research used quasi experimental design with 2 x 3 factorial design. The data of the students' prior knowledge were obtained from a prior knowledge test, the data of science process skills were obtained from a science process skills test and performance test, and the data of science achievement were obtained from a science achievement test. The result showed that: 1) there was a difference in science process skills among students taught using guided inquiry learning model, students taught with guided inquiry learning model with mind mapping, and students taught using direct instruction model, 2) there was a difference in science process skills of students with different prior knowledge, 3) there was an interaction between learning model and prior knowledge on science process skills, 4) there was a difference in science achievement among students taught using guided inquiry learning model, students taught using guided inquiry learning model with mind mapping, and students taught using direct instruction model, 5) there was a difference in science achievement of student with different prior knowledge, and 6) there was an interaction between learning model and prior knowledge on science achievement.

This research was an explanatory mixed method design which aims to analyze the influence of disco... more This research was an explanatory mixed method design which aims to analyze the influence of discovery learning assisted by moodle on the problem-solving skills and ICT literacy of SMA Negeri 1 Purwoharjo student. The research subjects consisted of 37 XI grade students from each experimental class and the control class. Instruments test was in the form of five description questions to measure problem-solving abilities and performance questionnaires to measure ICT literacy skills. The results of the manova statistical test showed that the value of wilks lamda has Sig. (0.005) < (0.05). This shows that discovery learning assisted by moodle influences ICT problem solving and literacy ICT skills.

This research was focused on the influence of the strategy of cognitive conflict based on the stu... more This research was focused on the influence of the strategy of cognitive conflict based on the students pre-test to reduce misconceptions on the concept of mechanical wave. Method which is used in the research was quasi-experiment. The research used two subjects which are experiment class and controlled class. Each classes have 32 students who have same abilities based on their pre-test scores. To analyze the data, Anacova was used for statistical analyzing. The result of this research showed that the strategy of cognitive conflict successfully reduced the misconceptions of the students. Abstrak: Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengetahui strategi konflik kognitif ditinjau dari kemampuan awal siswa untuk mengurangi miskonsepsi pada materi gelombang mekanik. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan kuasi eksperimen. Subjek penelitian kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol dengan jumlaah 32 siswa seiap kelasnya yang mempunyai rata-rata kemampuan awal sama. Data diolah dengan menggunakan analisis anacova. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kelompok yang diberi perlakuan dengan strategi konflik kognitif mengalami penurunan miskonsepsi yang lebih tinggi daripada kelompok yang dikontrol, dan siswa yang mempunyai kemampuan awal yang tinggi pun juga mengalami penurunan miskonsepsi lebih tinggi daripada siswa yang mempunyai kemampuan awal yang rendah.

The research design used was quasiexperimental type pretest-posttest control group design. Hypothesis test in research using Anacova (Analysis of Covariance). The results showed that (1) there is a difference in science process skill of experimental class and control class where the science process skill of experiment class student is higher than control class student; (2) there is a difference of understanding of optical material concept of experimental class and control class where the students' understanding of optical concept of experimental class is higher than control class students. Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui ada tidaknya perbedaan keterampilan proses sains dan pemahaman konsep pada materi optik antara siswa yang dibelajarkan dengan pembelajaran inkuiri terbimbing dan pembelajaran discovery learning. Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah quasi experimental tipe pretest posttest control group design. Uji hipotesis dalam penelitian menggunakan Anakova (Analisis of Covariance). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) terdapat perbedaan keterampilan proses sains siswa kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol dimana keterampilan proses sains siswa kelas eksperimen lebih tinggi dibandingkan siswa kelas kontrol dan (2) terdapat perbedaan pemahaman konsep materi optik siswa kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol dimana pemahaman konsep optik siswa kelas eksperimen lebih tinggi dibandingkan siswa kelas kontrol.

Efforts to overcome the misconceptions of Newton's Laws with Problem Based Learning (PBL) have be... more Efforts to overcome the misconceptions of Newton's Laws with Problem Based Learning (PBL) have been carried out by many scientists. However, there are still many students who experience misconceptions about Newton's Laws to this day. For this reason, PBL is carried out by contextualizing the problem. This research uses mixed methods Concurrent Triangulation design. This study used a sample of two classes by applying PBL, equipped with contextual problems. Quantitative data were obtained through pre-test and post-test with the FCI instrument of 30 reasoned choice questions. Qualitative data were obtained through in-depth interviews after pre-test and post-test, as well as interpretation of the video results of student discussions. The results showed that there was a significant difference between the pre-test score and the post-test score. Reduction of student misconceptions on Newton's Laws before and after PBL learning with contextual problems is 69,28%, while the misconceptions that persist are 22,89%. Problem-based learning with contextual problems, is able to bring the daily life of students into the classroom, so as to be able to maximally reduce students' misconceptions about Newton's Laws. Thus, to reduce misconceptions about physics material such as Newton's Laws, it is recommended to use Problem based learning with contextual problems.

The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of the 5E learning cycle model on critical t... more The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of the 5E learning cycle model on critical thinking skills and mastery of concepts. Learning activities are carried out online using Microsoft 365. This study was conducted on science content with the subjects were the fifth-grade students. The research design used a one-group pretestposttest design. After the analysis prerequisite test was met, the data were analyzed using paired sample t-test. The results of the study showed that there was effect of the 5E learning cycle model on students' critical thinking skills and mastery of concepts. Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model pembelajaran learning cycle 5E terhadap keterampilan berpikir kritis dan penguasaan konsep. Kegiatan pembelajaran dilakukan secara daring menggunakan Microsoft 365. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada muatan IPA dengan subjek penelitian siswa kelas V. Rancangan penelitian menggunakan one-group pretest-posttest design. Setelah uji prasyarat analisis terpenuhi, data dianalisis menggunakan paired sample t-test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat pengaruh model pembelajaran learning cycle 5E terhadap keterampilan berpikir kritis dan penguasaan konsep siswa.

This research was focused on the influence of the strategy of cognitive conflict based on the stu... more This research was focused on the influence of the strategy of cognitive conflict based on the students pre-test to reduce misconceptions on the concept of mechanical wave. Method which is used in the research was quasi-experiment. The research used two subjects which are experiment class and controlled class. Each classes have 32 students who have same abilities based on their pre-test scores. To analyze the data, Anacova was used for statistical analyzing. The result of this research showed that the strategy of cognitive conflict successfully reduced the misconceptions of the students. Abstrak: Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengetahui strategi konflik kognitif ditinjau dari kemampuan awal siswa untuk mengurangi miskonsepsi pada materi gelombang mekanik. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan kuasi eksperimen. Subjek penelitian kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol dengan jumlaah 32 siswa seiap kelasnya yang mempunyai rata-rata kemampuan awal sama. Data diolah dengan menggunakan analisis anacova. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kelompok yang diberi perlakuan dengan strategi konflik kognitif mengalami penurunan miskonsepsi yang lebih tinggi daripada kelompok yang dikontrol, dan siswa yang mempunyai kemampuan awal yang tinggi pun juga mengalami penurunan miskonsepsi lebih tinggi daripada siswa yang mempunyai kemampuan awal yang rendah.

Thematic learning carried out in elementary schools has not trained students' high-level thinking... more Thematic learning carried out in elementary schools has not trained students' high-level thinking skills as a whole due to the use of learning models that tend to be monotonous and make students bored. This study aims to determine the effect of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model on HOTS (Higher Order Thinking Skillls). The research method used is quantitative experiments with the design of nonequivalent group design. The results showed that the teacher's implementation was sufficient in accordance with the syntax of the PBL learning model so that it could influence HOTS students. The difference in HOTS scores between the two classes is indicated by the average post-test scores. The use of PBL models should be implemented for students to be able to train HOTS students. Abstrak: Pembelajaran tematik yang dilaksanakan di SD belum melatihkan kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi siswa secara keseluruhan dikarenakan penggunaan model pembelajaran yang cenderung monoton dan membuat siswa jenuh. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model Problem Based Learning terhadap Higher Order Thinking Skillls. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu kuantitatif eksperimen dengan desain nonequivalent group design. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa keterlaksanaan guru sudah cukup sesuai dengan sintaks model pembelajaran PBL sehingga dapat berpengaruh terhadap HOTS siswa. Perbedaan skor HOTS antara dua kelas ditunjukkan oleh rata-rata nilai post-test. Penggunaan model PBL hendaknya dapat diimplementasikan kepada siswa agar dapat melatih HOTS siswa.

Learning activities are carried out online using Microsoft 365. This study was conducted on science content with the subjects were the fifth-grade students. The research design used a one-group pretestposttest design. After the analysis prerequisite test was met, the data were analyzed using paired sample t-test. The results of the study showed that there was effect of the 5E learning cycle model on students' critical thinking skills and mastery of concepts. Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model pembelajaran learning cycle 5E terhadap keterampilan berpikir kritis dan penguasaan konsep. Kegiatan pembelajaran dilakukan secara daring menggunakan Microsoft 365. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada muatan IPA dengan subjek penelitian siswa kelas V. Rancangan penelitian menggunakan one-group pretest-posttest design. Setelah uji prasyarat analisis terpenuhi, data dianalisis menggunakan paired sample t-test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat pengaruh model pembelajaran learning cycle 5E terhadap keterampilan berpikir kritis dan penguasaan konsep siswa.
