This knowledge assists in sharing and learning of an institution. For the successful set up of an Institutional Repository, strategic planning is required with a predetermined goal and scope as well. This paper is a case study of setting up a digital Institutional Repository at Maharashtra Education Society's Institute of Management and Career Courses [MES's IMCC], Pune an Indian Management Institute using the open source software D-space. The basic objective of this paper is to provide a roadmap for setting up an institutional repository in an academic institution. The paper also discusses the role of librarian in setting up a digital Institutional Repository, problems faced and major milestones to cover in the venture.

Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) systems have been used in libraries. These applications can lead to significant savings in staff costs, enhance service, prevent book theft and easy to stock verification, provide a constant update of library collections, holding management, but also attain real-time services. Due to the issues about reliability, insufficient, interfere with noise, cost and without killer application, therefore major library only experiment with RFID for holding management. RFID provided with these characters of batch access, storage mass data, and reprogram that were barcode cannot archive. Integrate both parent and holding with functions of RFID to extend various application. Just replace barcode and magnetic strip then archive there advantages for book identification, for the sorting and conveying of library book...

All the synthesized compounds were characterized by elemental analysis, FT-IR, 1H NMR and 13C NMR spectral data. All the synthesized compounds were screened against six bacterial pathogens, namely B. subtilis, C. tetani, S. pneumoniae, S. typhi, V. cholerae, E. coli and for antifungal activity against two fungal pathogens, A. fumigatus and C. albicans using the broth microdilution MIC method. Some of the compounds were found to be equipotent or more potent than commercial drugs against most of employed strains, as evident from the screening data.

It aims to discuss the digitisation process of manuscripts adopted in the Jayakar Library, University of Pune in India and also to evaluate the digitisation software used in this project.Design/methodology/approachThe paper explains different steps of the digitisation process. It also explains the process for creating metadata fields for easy retrieval of manuscripts and evaluates the digitisation software.FindingsDigitisation of manuscripts is a difficult process because of the fragility and discolouration (yellowishness) of manuscripts. Creation of metadata and especially subject headings for manuscripts is difficult and time consuming. QuickScan software is good for image capturing and DSpace is good for providing access to digital contents.Originality/valueThe project details and use of different software in this project may be useful for others carrying out digitisat...
