The purpose of this paper was to study the psychometric properties of the Obsessional Beliefs Questionnaire-44 (OBQ-44) in nonclinical adolescents. Additionally, the factorial structure of obsessive cognitions and its relationship with obsessive-compulsive symptoms were also analysed. A sample of 508 adolescents was used, 49% of them being boys. The age range was 12-19, with a mean age of 14.9 (SD= 1.6). The results indicated that the OBQ-44 has good psychometric properties. The internal consistency of the subscales ranged from 0.77 to 0.86. Confirmatory factor analyses indicated that both the three-factor (Responsibility/Threat estimation, Importance/Control of thoughts and Perfectionism/Certainty) and the four-factor (Importance/Control of thoughts, Responsibility, Perfectionism/Certainty, and Threat estimation) models showed an adequate fit to the data. Likewise, a statistically significant correlation was observed between obsessive-compulsive symptoms and obsessive beliefs. Consistent with previous literature, obsessive cognitions presented a multifactorial structure and were found to be associated to obsessive-compulsive symptoms. Hence, the OBQ-44 can be considered an adequate measurement instrument for the assessment of dysfunctional beliefs in nonclinical populations.

The sample consisted of 1,794 adolescents (50.2 % males), with a mean age of 14.7 years (SD = 1.72). The results showed that the BITE is a measurement instrument which presents adequate psychometric properties. The level of internal consistency for the Symptom subscale was .95 whereas for the Severity subscale it was .70. The analysis of the dimensionality of the BITE using exploratory factor analysis revealed a one-factor solution. In addition, the confirmatory factor analysis showed adequate fit indices for the one-factor solution. This dimensional structure of the BITE proved to be invariant across gender and age. Statistically significant differences were found as a function of age and gender when the groups were compared in the latent means. Future studies should incorporate the new advances in psychological and educational assessment pertaining to Computerized Adaptive Testing as well as examine the measurement invariance of the tests which assess bulimic symptomatology across cultures.

The early detection of these "at risk" individuals requires using adequate measurement instruments that allow us to make solid and well-founded decisions based on score profi les. The main purpose of this instrumental study was to analyze the internal structure and reliability of the Oviedo Schizotypy Assessment Questionnaire (ESQUIZO-Q) in adolescents. The fi nal sample was composed of a total of 1,438 participants, 693 males (48.2%), with a mean age of 15.9 years (SD = 1.2). The analysis of the underlying internal structure of the ESQUIZO-Q revealed a three-factor solution specifi ed in the following components: Reality distortion, Anhedonia, and Interpersonal disorganization. The levels of internal consistency for the subscales ranged from .61 to .80. The results showed that the ESQUIZO-Q is a self-report with adequate psychometric properties for the assessment of schizotypy and that can be used as a screening method for the detection of adolescents at high risk for psychosis. Future studies should explore in more depth the psychometric properties of the ESQUIZO-Q as well as the development of computerized-adaptive versions.

Two hundred and fifty-nine adolescents from a secondary school completed the Adolescent Coping Scale (ACS; Frydenberg & Lewis, 1993) and the Bulimic Investigatory Test, Edinburgh (BITE; , as well as additional questions regarding the binge-eating episodes. The results show that the adolescents who reported binge eating used more avoidance coping strategies than those who did not engage in this behavior. Adolescents took into account mainly the amount of food eaten when defining a binge with few of them mentioning loss of control in their descriptions. The results of the study have implications for the prevention of this behavior. The development of constructive ways for solving daily problems and coping with stressors may be a possible prevention strategy for this behaviour in adolescence.

For this purpose, the Schizotypal Personality Questionnaire-Brief (SPQ-B; and Borderline Personality Questionnaire (BPQ; were administered. The results showed that schizotypal and borderline features are partially related at subclinical level. The exploratory factor analysis conducted on the subscales revealed a three-factor solution comprised of the following factors: Identity/Interpersonal, Lack of Control and Schizotypal. The canonical correlation analysis showed that schizotypal features and borderline personality traits shared 34.8 % of the variance. The data highlight the overlap between schizotypal and borderline personality traits in nonclinical young adults. Future studies should continue to examine the relationship and the degree of overlap between these traits in community samples.
