Researchers have been studying pre-service and in-service language teacher identity for more than... more Researchers have been studying pre-service and in-service language teacher identity for more than two decades across countries. However, there is few research conducted in Indonesia regarding in-service language teacher identity in an international school. The present study aims at investigating international school language teachers’ prior experience and current teaching enterprise in redefining their professional and personal identity. The study employs qualitative method embracing questionnaire and in-depth interviews. There are 6 participants including teachers of Indonesian, English, Chinese, French, and Spanish language subjects. This study found that language teachers at AHS perceived their professional identity through the production of metaphors and the recalling of past and present teaching enterprise. Further exploration on the language teacher identity construction in Indonesia is then needed. DOI : 10.24071/ijiet.2020.040110

To facilitate quality teachers to support individual learning and encourage students to use techn... more To facilitate quality teachers to support individual learning and encourage students to use technology, the Indonesian Ministry of Education has launched the National Instructor Teacher Program. Although the primary objective of the program is not limited to ICT, the instructor teachers’ existence is driven by the demand for technology use in classrooms. This qualitative paper aims to investigate National Instructor Teachers’ perspectives toward the use of ICT in education. Data were gathered by interviewing two National Instructor teachers from two provinces, namely Jawa Tengah and Yogyakarta. The results of this study showed that National Instructor teachers had a positive attitude towards the use of ICT. They were able to share and collaborate with other teachers and could find their own solutions related to the barriers in implementing ICT in their classes. The city, however, has also received a backlash as many deem the city planning fail in sustaining the environment. Environmental organizations have then begun to raise an awareness on the effects of “jumpstarted” development to environment sustainability. Some youth movements opt to use music as a media to instil the message. This study examined the effectiveness of songs containing the message of the importance of environmental sustainability intended to the young generation in Yogyakarta. The writer studied the influence of radical youth organization (Ketjil Bergerak) and Hip-Hop crew (Jogja Hiphop Foundation) in raising the awareness through music.
