In this paper, we propose a two dimensional (2D) multi-track detector for a four-grain TDMR channel model [2, 3] by utilizing the soft information from the detection of the side tracks. Simulation results indicate that at areal density approximately equal to 2.37 Tb/in 2 , the proposed scheme provides a significant performance improvement if compared to a conventional scheme, which does not exploit the sidetrack information in decoding process.
