Their interrelatedness is inspected through a case study of one particular creative hub, the former Volkskrant building in Amsterdam, and through analysing its transformation into a ‘creative’ hotel. Based on intensive qualitative fieldwork in 2012 and 2013, we argue that the importance of such temporary hubs lies beyond the fact that these places provide professionals in the creative industries with desk space. By mobilising the concept of engagement, we draw parallels between the ways in which creative urban professionals shape the physical spaces they use, and the ways digital media users appropriate virtual spaces. We argue that an understanding of the changing practices of creative workers might benefit from a revisiting of the concepts ‘loose space’ and ‘Thirdspace’, as these n...

We highlight some nuanced differences or shortfalls across Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden, and give some policy recommendations to national governments and industry in order to maintain a professional Nordic standard. The article identifies a degree of social, cultural, and economic coherence in the Nordic context that allows for the Danish, Finnish, Norwegian, and Swedish influencer industries to be viewed as a collaborative entity. It then reviews the status of income and tax procedures, and the regulation of commercial disclosures for influencers in the Nordic region. It is hoped that this research contributes to strengthening the integrity and rigour of the Nordic influencer industry to serve as a model for other regional networks of influencers.

Esports players belong to teams that are sponsored by business organizations, and the field constitutes an expanding industry where stakes are growing, infrastructures are being built specifically for spectating, and investors and gamblers are getting in on the game. In both academia and popular media, esports are still contrasted with regular sports, especially when finances and viewership ratings are discussed, but there are also great differences – especially in terms of their regulatory frameworks (e.g. Taylor 2012; Karhulahti 2017; Scholz 2019). These frameworks are the topic of this paper.
