Although sensitive in nature, community-driven information is essential for designing and delivering effective community-centric SRH services. This article provides an overview of the theoretical framework and methodologies used to investigate SRH needs, barriers, and challenges in service-delivery and utilization in the Rohingya refugee camps in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh. It also offers insights on important methodological and ethical factors to consider while conducting research in a similar context. A concurrent mixed-method study was undertaken in ten randomly selected Rohingya refugee camps between July and November 2018. The design consisted of a cross-sectional household survey of 403 Rohingya adolescent girls and women, along with an assessment of 29 healthcare facilities. The te...

I... more Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) Technology is growing popular in wireless communications. It can be used easily for security purposes using authentication protocol. In the literature, researchers proposed different types of RFID based authentication protocols to ensure security and privacy. RFID technology is used in IoT (Internet of things) for real time authentication like access control in offices, homeland security, and transportation and also in defense and sensitive medical organizations. In this paper we proposed a hash based mutual authentication protocol that can dynamically update secret key value between tag and the reader. This protocol is secure and immune to different kinds of attacks.

Three steps are followed here to resolve bullwhip effect. First, identify the causes. Fishbone diagram helps to classify the core reasons of it. The second part is to analyze the causes and discuss the effect of these causes and try to recommend some probable solutions. The third and last part is to observe the practical situation of bullwhip effect. Here, a case study is to be studied and apply the following solution of this supply chain system and observe how these solutions resolve the bullwhip phenomenon.

Adamjee jute mill was the largest jute mill in the world, established in 1950. But unfortunately, it has been shut down in 2002 due to some unavoidable and political reasons. Later government and many private entrepreneurs tried to revitalize this mill but failed, and at present only a few broken infrastructures exist as old memories. This ruined huge abandoned shade representing not only the jute culture in our country but also signifying our history. Nature changes with the time but the memory of space remains timeless if we preserve them. Rapid competition of development of our country creating threats for the survival and continuity of our heritage and culture. The purpose of this study is to point out the possibility and importance to revitalize Adamjee jute mill as a heritage site and raise awareness about the increasing demand for jute in the world market.

Even though patients’ expectations regarding ROP have increased during the COVID-19 pandemic, the psychometrically-validated ROP-Scale is difficult to apply in hospital settings. The goal of this study is to validate the existing ROP-Scale to measure the responsiveness of hospital physicians during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic in Bangladesh.MethodsWe conducted a cross-sectional phone survey involving 213 COVID-19 hospital patients, randomly selected from the government database. We applied the Delphi method for content validity, exploratory factor analysis for construct validity, Cronbach's alpha and corrected item-total correlation for internal consistency reliability, and Pearson's correlation between the scale and overall patient satisfaction for concurrent validity.ResultsAfter removing survey items based on data s...

There has always been significant challenges and hurdles in terms of achieving adequate and equitable inclusivity of persons with disabilities in all sections of social life. Education and employment of persons with disabilities were least focused which created more marginalization for the community. The long term impact of these marginalization has also led to the lack of jobs and social security of persons with disabilities, which is very clear now given the crisis in place. In low and middle income countries like Bangladesh the situation is even worse. To better understand the conditions of persons with disabilities in this crisis situation, the present study was initiated to explore the dimensions of livelihood with respect to income and wellbeing of persons with disabilities and to generate evidence for developing policies arou...

Population groups such as persons with disabilities are experiencing the worse outcomes in terms of managing their livelihoods, health and well-being. In this paper, we utilized publicly available information and data obtained from an ongoing research study conducted by BRAC University to discuss possible impacts of COVID-19 on the lives of persons with disabilities in Bangladesh. The paper focuses on documenting the livelihood struggles of persons with disabilities during the pandemic and the challenges experienced by them while accessing formal health care services and social safety nets. We also recommend strategies that can be implemented to minimize the impacts and improve the overall well-being of persons with disabilities during this unparalleled crisis situation.

Rarely, brain abscess formation has been reported following ischemic stroke. An increasingly utilized therapy for stroke is mechanical thrombectomy, and within this report, we present a case of brain abscess formation following this procedure. Case Description: A 78-year-old female presented to our center with a right total anterior circulation stroke (TACS) secondary to terminal internal carotid artery occlusion. An emergent mechanical thrombectomy was performed and the patient’s initial postoperative recovery was good. In the 3rd week after the procedure, however, the patient became more confused and following the onset of fever, an MRI brain was performed, which demonstrated an extensive multiloculated right-sided brain abscess. Burr hole drainage of the abscess was subsequently undertaken and pus samples obtained grew Proteus mirabilis, presumed second...

In this work, CoMoCAT (Cobalt Molybdenum Catalyst) SWCNTs, chirality-sorted by aqueous two-phase extraction, are utilized for the first time to deliver a drug/gene combination therapy and image each therapeutic component separately via chirality-specific SWCNT fluorescence. Each of (7,5) and (7,6) sorted SWCNTs were non-covalently loaded with their specific payload: the PI3 kinase inhibitor targeting liver fibrosis or CCR5 siRNA targeting inflammatory pathways with the goal of addressing these processes in nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), ultimately to prevent its progression to hepatocellular carcinoma. PX-866-(7,5) SWCNTs and siRNA-(7,6) SWCNTs were each imaged via characteristic SWCNT emission at 1024/1120 nm in HepG2 and HeLa cells by hyperspectral f...

We used data from four nationally representative Demographic and Health Surveys (DHS) conducted in 1999-2000, 2004, 2007 and 2011 in Bangladesh involving a total of 24 211 under-5s located in 1661 primary sampling units (PSU; geographical unit of analysis) throughout Bangladesh. The prevalence of stunting (height/length-for-age Z-score <-2), underweight (weight-for-age Z-score <-2) and wasting (weight-for-height/length Z-score <-2) at each PSU site and for each survey year were estimated based on the WHO child growth standard. The extent of spatial clustering was quantified using semivariograms. Whole of Bangladesh. Children under 5 years of age. Our results demonstrate that in 1999-2000 most PSU throughout Bangladesh experienced stunting, underweight and wasting prevalence which exceeded the WHO thresholds. By 2011, this situat...
