Research paper thumbnail of The Effect Of Individual Counseling Toward Knowledge, Attitude and Behavior of Pregnant Woman about The Ante Natal Care in East Ciputat Public Health Center Year 2016

Proceedings of the 1st International Integrative Conference on Health, Life and Social Sciences (ICHLaS 2017), 2017

There are many etiology of low birth weight, and most of them are preventable if pregnant women do antenatal care (ANC) during pregnancy. Aim of this research is to determine the knowledge, attitudes and behavior of pregnant woman at East Ciputat Public Health Center (Puskesmas) about ANC to take care their pregnancy until birth. Experimental design with pretest and posttest study type. The research was conducted in polyclinic of mother and child Health in East Ciputat Puskesmas, Pamulang, South Tangerang during August 2016. The population are pregnant woman who control to Puskesmas Ciputat Timur in August 2016. The total sample are 31 respondents, with consecutive sampling and analyze by Wilcoxon. Result: The results after we give individual counseling, we have been getting a decline of the respondents who have low knowledge 22.6%, increasing of the respondents that have moderate knowledge 3.2%, and 19.4% for the increasing of the respondents with high knowledge. We have 31 respondents with positive attitude which is increase 16.1%. We got decreasing 19.4% respondents who have negative behavior, and increasing 19.4% respondents who have positive behavior. The "P" value for the knowledge, attitude and behavior is 0.002 ; 0.000 ; 0.002. This shows that the individual counseling to the respondents is meaningful.

Research paper thumbnail of Confidence as a diagnostic tool for perceptual aftereffects

Prolonged and repeated exposure to a constant stimulus (adaptation) can impact responses to subsequent test stimuli, compared to a non-adapted test stimulus. Researchers often infer, based on changes to response patterns, that sensory encoding has been changed by adaptation. However, it can be ambiguous whether a given aftereffect changes sensory encoding, decision processes, or both. We propose that confidence estimates can be used as a diagnostic tool to identify whether aftereffects arise either partially or entirely from post-perceptual processes. In three experiments, we demonstrate the utility of confidence judgements in determining whether an aftereffect results from sensory or criterion changes. Given the simplicity of our approach, this tool could readily be applied to resolve contemporary controversies regarding the origins of aftereffects and the penetration of perception by cogni...

Research paper thumbnail of Targeting Clinically Viable Protein Tyrosine Phosphatases with Rationally Designed, Small Molecule Inhibitors and Artificially Induced Protein-Membrane Anchors

Protein tyrosine phosphatases (PTPs) regulate the phosphorylation state of many important signali... more Protein tyrosine phosphatases (PTPs) regulate the phosphorylation state of many important signaling molecules and are increasingly viewed as integral components of signal transduction cascades. PTPs have been implicated in the development of type 2 diabetes, breast cancer and neurodegenerative disorders, and thus have been extensively explored as a potential therapeutic target. This thesis explores the functional components required for engineering novel modalities to successfully target protein tyrosine phosphatase 1B (PTP1B), the most well studied member of the large family of PTPs. In the first part of this thesis, a screen of a library of compounds identified potent salicylic acid inhibitors with promising single digit micromolar activity. In silico computational analysis drove the design and synthesis of a second generation of disalicylic acid inhibitors, and new, more selective and potent inhibitors have been identified. The second part of this thessis explores the first ever application of artificially induced protein-membrane anchors designed to target PTPs. iii Contributions of Authors The work described within this dissertation has been reported in two peer-reviewed publications. The introduction is an original composition. Chapters 2, and 3 are based heavily on my published or in preparation manuscripts. The final chapter consists of my own concluding thoughts and reflections.
