Background: COVID-19 pandemic, a global issue, enforced education system to shift with distance l... more Background: COVID-19 pandemic, a global issue, enforced education system to shift with distance learning mode. This study assessed students' satisfaction with emergency distance learning. Methods: A cross-sectional survey was done among 200 nursing students studying in five nursing campuses of Tribhuvan University. To collect data, questionnaires containing 28 statements measuring students' satisfaction with online learning on a five-point scale was used. The electronic link of the questionnaire was shared to the participants via their emails, vibers and messengers. Descriptive analysis of data was done using SPSS software. Finding and Conclusion: Distance learning classes were taken through Zoom, Microsoft team, email, viber and messenger. Only 49% students were enjoying online platform applications and >90% of them felt need for training regarding use of technology for distance learning. The learning environment was comfortable for >2/3 rd of the students, 74.5% were satisfied with the instructor's encouragement for active learning and >1/3 rd had issues with the instructor's pace of punctuality. The classes were interrupted due to technological error. The internet charges were expensive and students refused practical classes through distance learning mode.

This study aimed to find out the mental health status and factors associated with it among senior citizens. METHODS The study design was a cross sectional survey. Among the senior citizens residing in Tansen Municipality, Palpa, 245 participants were selected randomly from the list of senior citizens, enrolled in senior citizen allowance scheme. Data was collected by doing face to face interviews using Geriatric Depression Scale -15 and Geriatric Anxiety Scale-10. The data was entered in Epi Data 3.1 and transferred to SPSS version 16 program for analysis. RESULTS The mean age of the participants was 78.33 years. Parental awareness plays a significant role in the prevention of child abuse. The objective of this study was to find out the awareness of mothers regarding child abuse. MethodsThis descriptive cross sectional study was carried out among mothers attending a Pediatric Outpatient Department of Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital Kathmandu, Nepal. A total of 162 mothers having their children of aged one to 16 years were selected as a sample using non-probability convenient sampling technique. This research administered a structured questionnaire to assess awareness of Tharu adults on mental illness. Data were collected in September and October 2018. The collected data were analyzed by using descriptive statistical methods where the researcher calculated mean, standard deviation, percentage, and frequency. Chi-square test was used for inferential statistics.

Young people aged 15-24 years are the HIV/AIDS at risk group. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of an educational interventional program on knowledge on HIV/AIDS among adolescent students of higher secondary school in Kathmandu, Nepal. Methods: The study was the pre test-post test experimental study design with an experimental and a control group conducted in the randomly selected eighteen higher secondary schools. The intervention, educational package on HIV/AIDS, was provided to all grade twelve students in the intervention group from 1st September, 2017 to 2nd January, 2018. In total, 321 from the intervention group, and 283 from the control enrolled at baseline and over 95% of these were followed up at posttest. The data were collected from self-administered questionnaires in English version and analyzed by using independence t-test and paired t-test. Results: Overall pretest knowledge of both intervention and control groups was comparable with 27.58 ± 4.05 and 28.53 ± 3.77 mean ± standard deviation respectively. But statistical analysis showed significant higher knowledge (P = 0.03) among control group. After the educational intervention, the mean knowledge score of control group increased by only 0.47, whereas the same score increased by 11.57 and reached 39.15 ± 3.7 in post-test for intervention group. The difference in post-test score was statistically highly significant (P < 0.001). The finding indicates that the educational intervention was effective in changing the HIV/AIDS knowledge How to cite this paper:
