The patterns reflected in the media mostly deal with stereotyping females in very limited roles, and frequently as sex objects. Magazine content could be a crucial source in the issue of adolescent socialization. Magazines directed to adolescent female consumers orient the audience with the explicit and implicit messages of socioeconomic lifestyle. Teens' relying on the subjective as well as objective comprehension of these magazines is crucial to their growing up. Therefore, it was essential to understand the factors that are influential for much of adolescent socialization. In this regard, a content analysis of Goffman's stereotypical categories was examined for the contemporary teen magazines. Coding on two magazines — Seventeen and Teen Vogue (2014 issues) was done using the frameworks of Goffman's scale categories. Two more variables from Kang's (1997) categories were added.

While the roles of females are going through far-reaching changes in society-at-large, advertisements nevertheless have remained as stereotypical. The females' portrayal in the teenage magazines was mostly inclined towards the essence of deferential dispositions and was rarely about self-assurance and independence. There was almost a nonexistent depiction of women in positions of power and in occupational frames. The stereotypical categories that were rife with examples were in the categories of Ritualization of Subordination, Feminine Touch, Independence/Self-Assurance, Licensed Withdrawal,
and Body Display. It could be noted that with these stereotypical portrayals of images, especially with the increased sexualization of teenage girls, there is a huge possibility of limiting the teenage women's self-definitions and potential to grow up into resolute and strong-minded individuals. The racial representation was not been duly addressed, according to the sample results. A more realistic representation of the races in the teen magazines could hold more promise of monetization as the racial groups like the Black Americans, Asian Americans, and the Hispanics have the growth potential over the next few decades. If there is the lesser objectification of women in the magazine contents, the lesser would be the likelihood of alarmingly dangerous tendency of far-reaching problems like sexual coercion.

Not all students can adjust in an alien culture with ease. This research on Asian students' experience of culture shock and coping strategies offers an understanding of the international students' needs, adjustment difficulties, managing of anxiety and coping strategies. The research will be beneficial in generating ideas for better management of culture shock. In this study, Asian students of collectivist culture were recruited from the existing international student body of a university in the United States. The students willing to spare nearly an hour of their time for in-depth interviews were invited to participate. The data gleaned from the interviews were interpreted and analyzed using a theoretical thematic analysis following the work of Braun and Clarke (2006). Salient themes emerged while applying constant comparison technique in relation to the research questions. It was found that the Asian students' culture shock closely followed a W-curve theory of transition pattern of stages suggested by Zeller and M osier (1993). It is natural for the Asian students to experience a roller coaster ride of cultural adjustment cycle once they embark on a journey abroad for education. Knowing about this pattern could make the transition easier. While students may at times find different cultural values in the host culture frustrating, yet there are positive sides in every approach to life.

Fearing this additional hike in the tuition fees, thousands of mostly middle class students protested that this would add to the already existing burden on their families in supporting their education. The country's socioeconomic backdrop of culture and economic scenario was such where the parents had to bear a lot for their children's expenses for a long time until the children became independent. On top of such already overpriced expenses, the question of bearing VAT became exorbitant for the families. Therefore, the question of this added cost became a burning issue that the student activists chose to fight. The students vowed to continue peaceful protests and demonstrations until their demands were met. Activism found a new dimension with digital and social media. A literature review was conducted to explore the existing research regarding the issue in question and to identify any research gaps. When looking at the recent developments in the scenario of fundamental freedom, the countries once thought as invulnerable to authoritarian temptations are now imposing restrictions on basic rights and autonomy. Thanks to digital media and advancements in technology, the conversation on the internet, especially via social media, changed the mode of public conversation for good. This research incorporated the Southeast Asian perspective of activism in creating a desirable change in public opinion and the resultant policy reform as the after-effect of widespread dissension. This research revolved around starting with answering research questions like how the #NoVATonEducation campaign developed over time and then presents an overview of the media communication tools that were used in the campaign, followed by a focus on the role of social media. v Table of Contents I. The consumers of today have become smarter than before. Running hard-hitting and stylish advertising campaigns is no longer any guarantee that they would catch the intended audience’s attention! Today’s consumers now have more sophisticated gadgetry to avert unwanted and unsolicited commercials. With the advent of interactive media like TiVo and other digital video recorders, the viewers now have numerous options to free themselves from the commercials they think maybe annoying or uncalled for.

The popping up of advertisements on the television screens can no longer create a roadblock effect to grasp the attention of consumers anymore. Besides, today’s consumers’ attention is getting splintered by their simultaneous use of different new interactive media while the
passively viewing medium like television is switched on. Marketers are constantly being challenged with the dilemma of how to break away from the sea of clutter in making a mark with their brand. This thematic paper is going to suggest ways to do away with this disarray of clutter with the strategies that could be adopted to break away from the sea of
advertisement clutter in the face of media fragmentation.

This paper is literary in nature. The input for this study was gleaned from literature and secondary sources. To inculcate validity and reliability, expert opinion through interviews was obtained. While collecting and interpreting data and information, personal experience regarding marketing communication also worked as a major source of contribution in this paper.

Coding on two magazines -Seventeen and Teen Vogue (2014 issues) was done using the frameworks of Goffman's scale categories. The stereotypical categories that were rife with examples were in the categories of: Ritualization of Subordination, Feminine Touch, Independence/Self Assurance, Licensed Withdrawal, and Body Display. It could be noted that with these stereotypical portrayal of images, especially with the increased sexualization of teenage girls, there is a huge possibility of limiting the teenage women's selfdefinitions and potential to grow up into resolute and strong-minded individuals. iii The racial representation was not been duly addressed, according to the sample results. A more realistic representation of the races in the teen magazines could hold more promise of monetization as the racial groups like the Black Americans, Asian Americans, and the Hispanics have the growth potential over the next few decades. If there is lesser objectification of women in the magazine contents, the lesser would be the likelihood of alarmingly dangerous tendency of far-reaching problems like sexual coercion.

Following the examination of trends in contemporary female teenage magazines, this chapter is going to illustrate how a greater part of female models are being shown in agreeable, subordinate and sexualized ways using nude, half-clad appearances of men and women. These models are shown in overtly sexual dispositions, as well as using of sensual suggestions with sexual suggestiveness or innuendos with the placement of sexual cues in these ads.
