It is therefore important to develop interventions that improve healthy ageing, reduce disability onset and enhance life quality. Physical exercises can promote healthy ageing and help maintain independance, yet many older adults are inactive. Yoga is a form of physical activity that aims to improve health and may be particularly suitable for older adults. So purpose of this study to analyse the effect of balance training exercises as compared to yoga in prevention of fall in elderly people. Study Design: Pre and Post test Experimental design. Methodology: 60 subjects were recruited from age 60 years or above.Subjects were divided into 2 groups-Group A(Physical Exercises) and Group B(Yoga).30 Subjects in group A attended 4 weeks session for practicing Exercise(each session runs 20 mins). Also in Group B with 30 subjects attended 4 weeks session and completed within 30mins. Result and Conclusion: The subjects in group B (yoga) showed significantly better results in comparison with group A(Physical Exercises) by using Tinetti balance and gait assessment scale with p value 3.8.

Canada is one of the destinations preferred by Indian physiotherapy students. Indian students need to undergo credential evaluation as the education has to be substantially equivalent to Canadian educational level in order to register for masters. It is therefore imperative that analysis of the graduate curriculum of Canada and India needs to be undertaken to address whether the content meets the needs of the curriculum. So, the content inclusions of the two curricula were analysed and compared for their matchability and Nonmatchability. On comparison it is observed that the approach availed in the structuring of Canadian Curriculum is integrated teaching Learning approach as against segmented approach in the Indian curriculum. The competencies segregation in the Canadian Curriculum is therefore observed to be effectively linked ...

The study highlights the similarities and differences in the regulations of the two countries with India (NCAHP) with respect to 1) registrations of professionals and 2) Practice Standards for the profession and come up with recommendations that may be incorporated in future amendments in the NCAHP. The research methodology used is Rapid Appraisal literature review. On comparative analysis it is found that the Provisions on General, Provisional, Specialty, Limited and student Registration, scope of practice, Fitness to practice and Health and Competence Performance are not observed in NCAHP and are key requirements to ensure that health professionals are competent and t to practice their professions and hence come out as key recommendations for inclusions in the future amendments of NCAHP

Physiotherapy based rehabilitation program is an essential component for post COVID-19 patients in facilitating maximum functional recovery. Expert consensus statements are available from the developed countries. There is a need for a guidelines to manage post COVID-19 sequelae in Indian context. The objective of this consensus statement is to provide evidence informed guidelines for post COVID-19 physiotherapy management as a component of pulmonary rehabilitation. This consensus statement was developed by expert panel across India. Published literatures were appraised and used to prepare the recommendations. This is the first of its kind of work providing preliminary guidelines for post COVID-19 physiotherapy.

Deficit in balance can results in falls and fractures which can affect health-related quality of life. Menopause is also considered as a risk for fracture due to osteoporosis, which at later life becomes difficult to manage and causes higher morbidity. So, evaluation of balance and bone density is important in middle-age in women, so that we can plan and administer proper treatment strategies at an early stage which can reduce risk of falls and fractures. Therefore, the aim of the study was to assess and compare dynamic balance and bone density in premenopausal and postmenopausal middle-age women. Methods: Female participants in the age-group of 40-60 years were divided into premenopausal and postmenopausal group based on the criteria of cessation of menstrual cycles for minimum one year. Participants were assessed barefooted for dynamic balance by physical performance mobility tests such as narrow walk test (NWT), Figure-of-8 walk test (F8WT), obstacle walk test (OWT) and normal gait speed (NGS). Bone density was evaluated by using ultrasound bone densitometer at calcaneus in community setting. Results: The time taken to complete the NWT, F8WT, OWT was reduced significantly (p<0.05) in post-menopausal group, showing dynamic balance is significantly affected in postmenopausal women when compared with premenopausal women in middle-age group. Gait speed was also reduced in both the groups but it was significantly reduced (p<0.05) in postmenopausal group. Also bone density decreases significantly in post-menopausal group showing osteoporosis, premenopausal group also showed osteopenia when assessed by ultrasound bone densitometer in community setting. Conclusions: Dynamic balance and bone density significantly decreases in post-menopausal middle-age women as compared with pre-menopausal middle-age women.

Thirty participants were allocated into two groups, participants with even serial number were allotted for conventional therapy group A and those with odd serial numbers were allotted for Maitland therapy group B. Conventional therapy protocol included Ultrasound to shoulder joint for 7 days and Shoulder Mobility Exercises which were given 1 session (20 repetitions) per day for 15 days. Maitland therapy protocol included Ultrasound to shoulder joint for 7 days and Maitland mobilisation technique and Shoulder Mobility Exercises which were given 1 session (20 repetitions) per day for 15 days. Pre and post intervention scores were measured in terms of NPRS, SPADI, and ROM of the shoulder joint. The Shoulder mobility exercises included full (available) ROM exercises for shoulder joint and capsular stretching exercises.

Physiotherapists participated as frontline workers to contribute to management of patients in COVID-19 in reducing morbidity of these patients and aiding them to road to recovery. With infrastructure and patient characteristics different from West and lack of adequate evidence to existing practices, there was a need to formulate a national consensus. Materials and methods: Recommendations were formulated with a systematic literature search and feedback of physiotherapist experiences. Expert consensus was obtained using a modified Delphi method. Results: The intraclass coefficient of agreement between the experts was 0.994, significant at p < 0.001. Conclusion: This document offers physiotherapy evidence-based consensus and recommendation to planning physiotherapy workforce, assessment, chest physiotherapy, early mobilization, preparation for discharge planning, and safety for patients and therapist in acute-care COVID 19 setup of India. The recommendations have been integrated in the algorithm and are intended to use by all physiotherapists and other stakeholders in management of patients with COVID-19 in acute care settings.

Methodology: A cross-sectional observational survey carried out at Shri. Mahila Gruh Udyog Lijjat Papad, Nandanvan, Nagpur (2014). 50 female subjects were selected for the study. After taking permission from factory in-charge, the survey was conducted at the factory site and subjects were explained about the study in details in language they can understand. Consent form was obtained by subjects to participate. Data were collected by interview and clinical examination of women engaged in this occupation, As per proforma of musculoskeletal examination. Result: Almost 37 subjects out of 50 complaints about low back pain as a chief complaint followed by neck pain in 34, thoracic kyphosis was more profound postural deviation seen in 10 subjects. Paraspinal and calf muscle spasm is more common. Radiating pain and numbness more in dominant hand suggestive of involvement of median nerve were confirmed by Upper Limb Traction Test [ULTT]. Discussion: Socioeconomic status greatly influences the working needs of women. Shri. Mahila Gruh Udyog Lijjat Papad factory provides a platform for Women Empowerment. Faulty posture adoption for longer duration during work gives rise to various musculoskeletal problems. Conclusion: 74% of the study population has low back pain as a chief musculoskeletal problem. 34% present with postural deviation and 82% belong to poor socioeconomic scale.
