In order to develop such a framework, the paper reviews the key concepts that define knowledge management practices, and attempts to understand the constraints that currently limit the application of these practices in the development sector, as well as the emerging opportunities offered by the growth of web 2.0 technologies. The result of this effort has been the establishment of the Triangle of Dichotomies. By moulding the strengths of web 2.0 technologies to the uniqueness of the development sector, the Triangle of Dichotomies offers development practitioners a lens to assess strengths, weaknesses and latent opportunities of web-based knowledge management structures according to specific user needs and contextual particularities. You can't manage knowledge-nobody can. What you can do is to manage the environment in which knowledge can be created, discovered, captured, shared, distilled, validated, transferred, adopted, adapted and applied. Indian women have excelled in almost all fields they are storming Information and Technology field , the number of women in computing and internet industries has registered a sharp rise. While presenting the hardcore figures about the women’s enrollment in higher education system in different faculties; relative presence of women as scientific and technical staff in various institutions; recognition by various reputed national agencies; motivation and constraints to opt for science are also focused in this study. As an output Indicator, Publication analysis of Women scientist has also been presented.

A man with a roaring voice who could influence everyone with his charismatic discourses and in depth knowledge on any conceivable topic. A stalwart whose persona was larger than life, indeed a living legend and example for many not only in the profession but outside of it too.

To combat the problems of pollution, environment, energy, biodiversity, health and nutrition, many countries in the world, particularly the developing countries, need cooperation and support from other developed countries. Thus, collaboration in S&T is fast emerging as the keyword in the scientific world. India had recognized the importance of international scientific collaboration quite early and considers it an important instrument for the development of S&T in India. As a result, India has signed a number of collaboration agreements on S&T with many countries, including South Asian countries. In this article, a study on the outputs of S&T collaborations is presented through the analysis of co-authored research papers published during the period 1992-99 in the journals covered by the Science Citation Index. The tremendous growth in the size is coupled with cost escalation of the primary journal literature. The rise in size and price has subsequently resulted in the current scholarly communication system becoming more and more unaffordable and has forced academic libraries over the last several decades to cancel existing serial titles and buy fewer books. The situation attributes that the crisis in the scholarly communication system not only intimidates the welfare of libraries, but also it perils the academic community’s aptitude to do world-class research.

In the recent past due to the advancing technologies/resources cropping up on all fronts, we have moved from data deficit to data deluge . The real challenge is in deriving benefits from the data tsunami for public good. Thus, it is imperative to build infrastructure to store and process humongous data. It is equally important to evolve innovative mechanisms for data analytics to draw inferences that can facilitate smart research and good decision making landscape. The paper dwells on some of the core elements of the big data ecosystem and endeavors to present the current scenario by identifying and portraying various initiatives to address big data boom.

The relevant literature scanned by him gets subsequently reflected in his papers . This being the usual practice, it can be assured that the references cited by an author indicate the availability of literature to him - recent or otherwise. Again, it has been generally found that the older scientific literature is used to a lesser extent than the recent ones - this phenomenon has been demonstrated in the "time distribution of the scientific literature references" [1], in the "received citations of journal articles" [2] and in the "library use data" [3]. In other words, generally the decrease in the number of citations is connected with the decrease of scientific value, barring a few exceptional cases. Investigating the "citedness of science literature" from the past 100 years, De Solla Price came to the conclusion tha...

The present paper is based on the deliberations of an international brainstorming seminar on Mobilising the Information and Knowledge Society (IKS), with Indo-French crossed perspectives as the initial funnelling concepts relating to the core issue of IKS. Endeavours have been made in this paper to highlight the critical issues that would eventually form basis for conducting research and addressing some of the challenges rising during the seminar and have been included in this paper. The paper also projects the possible risks associated with the knowledge crash. Finally attem...

In 1988 only 11 Indian journals were covered in SCI. This figure varies from year to year. The present study shows that the impact factors of Indian journals obtained from JCR are probably not true reflections of the quality of Indian journals

Over exploitation and Abstraction of water for various purposes coupled with direct discharge of untreated wastewater has completely deteriorated the quality of water. In comparison to other pollutants, industrial effluents are the most dangerous threat to the natural ecosystem of the Holy river. The paper focuses on Tannery industry which is categorized as red-category industry. These tanneries no longer use environment-friendly vegetable dyes for tanning leather they instead use highly toxic chromium which is discharged directly into the river untreated. The paper has also tried to explain the effects of the pollutants on the environment and the natural ecosystem of the river and suggested to adopt some innovative measures like generation of biogas from the waste, adopting phyto-remediation technology and development of integrated plan for waste water disposal and treatment.
